I was just thinking that I wish Shadows House was more popular and gets a third season.

Yes, that would be nice.

I should probably talk more about it myself.
Initially I only got into the series because the first ED and the second OP are some of my favorite songs by ReoNa, but I really enjoyed it. Shadows House has such a nice setting and atmosphere. I once had a conversation with someone who was recommending me the manga, but I never actually read it^^ (I really should)

Hardly anyone talks about Hyperdimension Neptunia and Senran Kagura. I wonder why that is the case?
@DesuMaiden Wow that's a throwback lmao I was a huuuuuuge Neptunia fan back in the early 2010's. Still got all the PS3 special editions both English and Japanese. I don't see much marketing for it anymore from my experience also when they switched exclusively to PS Vita games and not making more Animation it slowly fell out of my interest.

Space Dandy, its overshadowed by its more popular counterpart Cowboy Bebop. Follows the same style as a episodical space bounty hunter.

@Mew2000 Both were airing when i was a kid (well Sailor Moon reruns were airing) but i never really got into Sailor Moon, Mew Mew on the other hand i really liked the characters, especially Mew-Mint, i could really relate to her, so i was instantly drawn to the series

I actually grew up with a lot of magical girl anime, and magical girl inspired cartoons such as Winx Club, i just haven't added them to my list yet as i haven't watched them in years and want to give them a re-watch before adding and rating

My fav of all time though has to be Pretty Cure, from the OG series to Heartcatch that is like my entire childhood, OG Pretty Cure is actually the one and only anime i caught every episode of as it was airing on TV, it aired before school when i was in 2nd grade, every day would be glued to the tiny box TV, and every day was late xD Heartcatch aired when i was in highschool and one of my classmates nicknamed me Chypre after one of the mascotts of the season

On Sailor Moon, getting into it now, i'm gonna guess the main reason i didn't get into it as a kid was that it is in a way a lot girlier than other magical girl shows, in the sense of how the everyday life scenes play out, it's a lot of talking about fashion and crushes and (90s version product of the times) diet culture, well the latter all exept Usagi, and to a rough tomboy all that did not sound particularly interesting. Of course other magical girl series also had such elements that interest most girls in them, they are shoujo afterall, but i felt like they had a better mix of different themes and topics that where also incorporated in them. I apreciate Sailor Moon a lot more now, though the very heavy typical girl chatter is still a bit much for me
@DigiCat That's interesting what you said about Sailor Moon. I know some people who like certain magical girl shows also thought Winx Club was too girly for them

I'm curious, what made you find Tokyo Mew Mew less girly than Sailor Moon in comparison? I'm curious to hear why from what you've seen of Sailor Moon. Tokyo Mew Mew is my favorite series and I loved how girly it was, so i'm curious what makes Mew Mew less girly than Sailor Moon

@Nekosawrus Neptunia Rebirth games are being made for PS4 and there was a new Neptunia game that was said to have more info later this year.

Shounen Onmyouji, it's a pretty good anime and even though it received a manga adaptation 2 years ago which is still ongoing and even got licensed in English recently I don't see anybody talking about it.

there's a bunch, like baccano and durarara which are both by narita.
@ryzxgum that reminds me of the time every anime had a fanart version of that durarara ending art. It seemed so popular at the time, crazy how it's kind of buried now. I feel old.

Like 90% of my watches. I love shoujo and iyashikei stuff and that often gets overlooked.

Some vastly underrated anime from the more recent years I'd like to shout out are Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast for Spirits, Bibliophile Princess, The Demon Prince of Momochi House, Waccha PriMagi, Himitsu no AiPri and, of course, the continuing Pretty Cure franchise. My favorite PreCure happens to be Kira Kira Pretty Cure A La Mode which is not most people's favorite.

@Sheol01 It's annoying trying to figure out which streaming service you need for everything now-a-days (Though through browing wikipedia I have just learnt that Madlax had a spin off light novel)
@deltahalo241 Truly, I learned that 3 months ago looking for Slayers Revolution. LOL Also, when I wanted to watch Call of the Night & had to watch it on You Tube.

Surprisingly, I'm not gonna be the first person on this thread to mention it, but R.O.D THE TV is my #1 favorite lesser-known series. Great characters, amazing plot and cool fights. What more could you ask for? Plus the English dub hired an actual UK actor (who would later voice Bayonetta) and a child to play a British character and a child, which is great for immersion.

Magical Girl Raising Project is also incredibly underrated. It seems, even with the second season announced, that people only remember it as "that magical girl anime I heard about one time and decided to skip because people told me it was a Madoka Magica rip-off." Which is a shame, because I implore anyone with an interest in battle-game anime to give it another shot. Surprisingly, all of the light-novels are officially translated despite the series's lack of popularity, and while the series does abandon the death-game formula from the third arc (5th volume) onwards, they are still very much worth the read, IMO.

Ninja Nonsense: The Legend of Shinobu is just a very solid comedy anime, especially if you have a more crude sense of humor. The first episode's kinda "eh", but the remaining episodes very much redeem it.

While I wouldn't call them super obscure or anything, A Place Further Than The Universe and School-Live! seem to me to have been super popular when they were airing, but not mentioned often since their conclusions. The two of them are easily among the best slice-of-life anime ever produced IMO, and are also among the saddest anime I've seen. The two of them (especially School-Live!) are best enjoyed without any knowledge of what happens in them, but I will caution bringing tissues.

@WeaponArchitect I've watched both, but I do feel the OG TV series kind of lost the plot when Alucard went off in chase of that other vampire. In Ultimate, we get the answers. I do like it's OP though.

But I do think the diverging plot wasn't that bad

@Mew2000 Not really less girly, it's more of a there was a focus on other things along with the girly stuff

I really like when the characters backstories, emotions and psyche are explored, this universal to any demographic, and i don't really see that aspect much in Sailor Moon (at least as far as i've watched)

I'm quite surprised to hear that about Winx, i always found that Winx almost gave more off a superhero vibe than a magical girl one with it's storytelling style and OST, especially earlier seasons

Winx absolutely exploded in popularity when it first aird in italy, literally everyone watched it, i mean the guys knew the lore better than the girls lol

@LoveLetterAnime Which one? Kageki Shoujo!!? Well, now I'm disappointed at the internet. I thought that ACCA 13 might be a reach already because the mangaka is reasonably well-known, but I fully expected the shoujo community to be talking about Kageki Shoujo!!. Whichever it is, I hope you enjoy it. Both of them are in my favorites.

Girls und Panzer - Good luck trying to find a fan of this series who isn't playing World of Tanks or a history buff. Hell, I bet that without its unique premise, GuP would have fallen into obscurity outside of Japan.

But GuP seems super popular when compared to the Space Battleship Yamato remake.

I barely ever see anyone talk about Shaman King (which oddly enough similar to the show you mentioned was also a show dubbed by 4kids). There was a little bit of a boost a few years back with the remake that was trying to be more manga faithful, but since that remake was kind of mediocre and had a bad release schedule here in the US, it kind of killed public discussion of the franchise once it ended. They still are making sequels to the remake anime based off the manga sequels, but nobody really talks about those either.

I sometimes see people mention Noir in anime discussions, but Madlax and El Cazador barely get brought up at all.
