For me, I love Tokyo Mew Mew. I don't see people talk about it really and that upsets me. There are anime much older than it that have been talked about a lot more and even with Mew Mew having a reboot, it still didn't get talked about much

I've only ever seen one other user here on MAL say anything about Ganbare Genki, which is very easily Toei's closest equivalent to Ashita no Joe. Though I guess not having any English subtitles past episode 9 (As of literally three months ago) will hurt an anime's chances of being talked about.

I watched a few Mew Mew episodes and thought it was pretty great. Eventually I'd like to go through them all. Is it by the same person who made Rayearth and Cardcaptors? The creepy monster designs reminded me of those series.

For me, probably KO Century Beast Warriors. It's a fun OVA, though it's not particularly novel, so I'm not surprised that it goes unnoticed/undiscussed. It has a great OP though, people definitely ought to check that out at least.

I barely ever see anyone talk about Shaman King (which oddly enough similar to the show you mentioned was also a show dubbed by 4kids). There was a little bit of a boost a few years back with the remake that was trying to be more manga faithful, but since that remake was kind of mediocre and had a bad release schedule here in the US, it kind of killed public discussion of the franchise once it ended. They still are making sequels to the remake anime based off the manga sequels, but nobody really talks about those either.

Quite a few, actually.
My favorite anime is Selector Infected WIXOSS, and let's say that, in terms of popularity, WIXOSS is to Symphogear what Symphogear is to anime in general. I hope you understand that phrase.

You could say that most of my 9/10's fall on that (But hey, not my fault this community doesn't have as good taste):I don't wanna just spam anime, but that also happens to some of my 8/10's, such as Granbelm.

Tsuki ga Kirei is probably one of my favourite (romance) anime ever. I don't know why cause there's nothing particularly special about the story, buts its just so perfect and should be appreciated more.

tbh didn't pick Mew Mew because the synopsis for it is a mahou shoujo full of alien fights, like the Precure. It didn't sound like solving problems for other people and the girls themselves like Healer girl, Ojamajo, Sugar Sugar Rune, and Sakura do.

Some of the indies I like do get talked and recommended around. So I feel ok, even about the ones that aren't. Like welcome to the ballroom and pompoko.

I sometimes see people mention Noir in anime discussions, but Madlax and El Cazador barely get brought up at all.

A very niche anime i got into recently is Youkai Ningen Bem, it's a 60s horror anime which is relitively unknown but gained quite the culf following in italy to the point of getting a complete series DVD release, which i bought at my local comicon, and recently also got a BluRay edition

Am also collecting Tokyo Mew Mew DVDs/VHSs

Aside from those a lot of oldschool shoujo (2000s and earlier) have been kinda forgotten, some i grew up with are Aishite Knight, Lady Georgie, Kodomo no Omocha, Ashita no Nadja, Sugar Sugar Rune, Kirarin Revolution

Oh and on the shounen side Let's & Go and Whistle are some childhood favs

Among my favorites are Chuuka Ichiban which is still the best cooking anime I've ever seen and Jewelpet Twinkle which is cute magical girl anime that has surprisingly enjoyable story.
...
but since they are both quite niche and quite old I understand why almost no one talks about those two anime and that doesn't upset me at all, maybe even delighted instead :)

Hidden gems better stay hidden~

@Sheol01 Madlax was actually a series I hadn't watched either until very recently, I watched El Cazador and Noir in pretty quick succession of one another and then for one reason or another kept putting off Madlax. Around a decade must have passed before I eventually got around to watching it. I don't even recall why at this point. I did enjoy it a lot so I would encourage you to watch it as well.

@JaniSIr El Cazador has always been my favourite, though that might have been coloured by it being the first in the trilogy that I watched but I recall liking it a lot, the only thing I felt kind of disappointed about was the ending as I felt the final confrontation with Rosenberg was a bit weak.

Chained Soldier - only 1 year old, but rather low numbers.
Full Dive - wacky humor, but rather low scored.
Saiki K - good score, many members, but heavy radio silence, barely gets mentioned anywhere.
Sleepy Princess - the score for it keeps dropping as more and more people watch it, truly an enigma, I found this hilarious.
Last but not least KINGDOM! - I'm glad this is loved in Japan, if it weren't for them, we would never get sequels, the West totally ignores this. The weak CGI in S1 must be the reason why everybody ignores this? Grow some balls and sit through it, it only gets better with each season! Ajin CGI is also on the low quality, but the antagonist Mr.Satou is 1 of the best villains out there.
Kingdom Come Deliverance II GOTY 2025

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is another worthy GOTY contender I tip my fedora to Sandfall Interactive, excellent debut gentlemen!

@DigiCat I'm kind of surprised you haven't watched a whole lot of Sailor Moon, yet you've seen all of Mew Mew the original anime since Sailor Moon is way more popular and iconic. How come you haven't watched a whole lot of Sailor Moon? I'm also curious to know how come you haven't really watched a whole lot of magical girl anime all the way through aside from Mew Mew? I'm just curious as to why. I have no problems with this by the way. I actually find this fascinating

@Mew2000 Both were airing when i was a kid (well Sailor Moon reruns were airing) but i never really got into Sailor Moon, Mew Mew on the other hand i really liked the characters, especially Mew-Mint, i could really relate to her, so i was instantly drawn to the series

I actually grew up with a lot of magical girl anime, and magical girl inspired cartoons such as Winx Club, i just haven't added them to my list yet as i haven't watched them in years and want to give them a re-watch before adding and rating

My fav of all time though has to be Pretty Cure, from the OG series to Heartcatch that is like my entire childhood, OG Pretty Cure is actually the one and only anime i caught every episode of as it was airing on TV, it aired before school when i was in 2nd grade, every day would be glued to the tiny box TV, and every day was late xD Heartcatch aired when i was in highschool and one of my classmates nicknamed me Chypre after one of the mascotts of the season

On Sailor Moon, getting into it now, i'm gonna guess the main reason i didn't get into it as a kid was that it is in a way a lot girlier than other magical girl shows, in the sense of how the everyday life scenes play out, it's a lot of talking about fashion and crushes and (90s version product of the times) diet culture, well the latter all exept Usagi, and to a rough tomboy all that did not sound particularly interesting. Of course other magical girl series also had such elements that interest most girls in them, they are shoujo afterall, but i felt like they had a better mix of different themes and topics that where also incorporated in them. I apreciate Sailor Moon a lot more now, though the very heavy typical girl chatter is still a bit much for me

Saki, Ro-Kyu-Bu and Inugami San to Nekoyama. It's sheer cuteness one way or another -there is no tension in plot-, so I think it's hard to talk about them. At least, Saki can be talked within mahjong or yuri circles, but it's niche and it's starting to be a slow-paced very old series.

@deltahalo241 Unfortunately, as is commonly the case in these things, Crunchy doesn't have it. It has the other two. Don't know why that is missing. Of course, they have removed shows I have meant to finish they used to have, also. Sony really hasn't done that site any favors.

Medabots. It was part of a huge wave of Pokémon-like shows which likely got overlooked for that reason and because of the art style, but it's very funny and has a unique twist. My favourite Medabots character doesn't even hit 25 favourites, though Phantom Renegade is one of the funniest Team Rocket like loser criminals.

Power Stone has an amazing opening theme, but only aired in Canada, so this one being obscure is understandable. But it's worth watching for shonen fans.

Healer Girl is overlooked even though it has the same director as FMA: Brotherhood, technically qualifies as a magical girl anime, and got released close to Love Live Superstar between its first two seasons. It's pretty fluffy, but a nice watch that's reminiscent of Aria or Love Live. Also has an amazing opening theme that gets the full version treatment in the end.

I see a lot of people still cosplaying this and making dance covers of their songs. Though I guess it's because it has the "Sunshine" 2nd entry curse (like Super Mario Sunshine) where it's not as iconic as the first entry or as emotionally impactful as what came immediately after?

Princess Principal. A 1900's themed spy series with a rather well developed plot. Character's outfits and their weapons are really fitting (Enfield rifles, Webley revolver, old British weapons in general) It's not bad though, less toxic fanbase than major fanbases aside from a rabid few shippers.

An underrated anime I like is Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru. It is about a binge eater (Hibike Sakura), Russian exchange student (Gina Boyd), part-time cosplayer & full-time sensei (Tachibana Satomi), boxer (Uehara Ayaka), and muscle fetishist (Souryuuin Akemi) who all join a gym. Harnold Dogegenschonegger (a ripoff of Arnold Schwarzenegger) is a character.
