Long ago, harmony across the galaxy was maintained by a sacred star known as the Mother Planet. But that peace was shattered when the Mother mysteriously exploded and vanished without a trace.

In the aftermath, the galaxy plunged into chaos and conflict. Yet from the scattered remnants of the Mother Planet, new beings were born—sentient fragments known as the Galverse.

Now, these Galverse girls, each imbued with extraordinary powers and an unstoppable gal spirit, rise to confront the evil organization "Space End Society." As they battle across the stars, they begin to uncover the truth behind the galaxy's collapse—and the fate of the Mother Planet itself.

I'm part of the Galverse team!

We have been working on this project for the last three years, and the OVA is a really wonderful piece of work that Ayaka and a team of 100+ people have put their heart and soul into.

Please keep an eye out for it. I'm happy to answer any questions people have too.

I was very interested to see this art style but I instantly lost interest when I saw that it was made using pyramid scams like web3. Sorry and no offense to the ''creators'' but I will never support zero effort productions. Bye Bye

This is the NFT collection this anime is based on. https://opensea.io/collection/galverse
They made 8,888 of these copy paste avatars and are selling them for cryptocurrency equal to about $50-$13,000 each.
This anime is a tie-in product made in attempt to enhance the value of these NFTs.
The anime itself might turn out fine but I don't like the level of mindless consumerism that is behind it.

@Absurdo_N Hey Absurdo, there was no AI used in the creation of the Galverse anime.
A team of over 100 people in Japan have created this, of course the majority of that are animators.
As we're trying to capture the nostalgic look, we used as many hand-drawn techniques as possible (cel animation is no longer done anywhere, but director Ayaka spent a lot of time trying to recreate the look and feel of cel anime).

@GrumbleDango

Hey Grumble,
We used web3 to crowdfund the anime. At the time, it was a much friendlier model than Kickstarter which takes 5% of the amount raised.
The avatars are hand drawn and took us five months to create, they were created by Ayaka the director of the anime.
They were used as a behind the scenes pass where people have watched us make the anime for the last three years, as well as contributing ideas and concepts like character designs, character names, and other creative stuff to the production.

We don't receive any benefit from people buying and selling them nowadays, so it's nothing to do with the price of the Galverse PFPs.

We just set out to make a great anime based on the world and characters that Director Ayaka has created. Please watch it when it comes out and make up your own mind - we're not selling anything here and there's no attachment to the NFTs if you don't want to be part of that.

Hey Absurdo,

Galverse is a fan funded anime production.

We have a small team (three of us on the core team including the Director of the anime Ayaka Ohira, with a handful of helpers in Japan and globally for things like events, tech, etc) that have been working on the production for a few years now.

The anime itself has been a massive production with over 100 staff in the studio (SoK) and other companies helping, with Ayaka directing it, and I have been working sort of like a producer and project manager there.

We also have a VTubing app and VTuber characters, and some other tech projects alongside the anime production, which are exploring different ways to have fun and create things with a brand new IP.

In short, we're a small, independent creative team making anime in a way no one has before! At the end of the day though, all that really matters is if the anime is good. Ayaka is an amazing creator, and everything is looking and sounding great as we finish up production, so I hope you watch it and enjoy it.

If you have any questions, just tag me anytime and I'll write back ASAP!

@Piromysl I've seen poor callbacks. This doesn't seem like one of them.

Also, 90s anime has cemented itself as its own style by this point. That's a sign of true graceful aging.

Looking forward to this !! The team worked several years on this project.
And yeah, even people deep in Web3 often think most NFTs are scams or just overhyped. Yeah, a lot of NFTs are scams or hype traps — but not all of them. NFT is a good tech and can be used as various ways, Shinsei Galverse actually used NFTs as a way to help fund part of their anime production, using blockchain tech as a tool, not just as a cash grab. I bought the NFT to have the background scene of anime making, i learned a lot.

Yes it's web3. No it's not genAI, no it's not a scam. There was a real hardworking team behind this project.

here to support @wailoaloa and the team

some thoughts:
- wouldn't say it's relying on 90s nostalgia when that's is the direction that they intended to create in the first place.
(creators on IG/TikTok/YT have creative directions with their content as well, are they reliant on those too?)
- saying MAL being owned by web3 company without any source is wild, what's wilder is thinking a passion project individual team owning MAL. icl ts pmo
- by gals for gals cuz there are local JP gyarus in the team, met with the team when they had a gathering in Shibuya back in early Aug 2024, vibes were immaculate
- wild to include "0 effort" and "productions" in the same phrase ngl

as a trader myself, I can understand the stigma towards NFTs and web3 given my time spent there and how the number of bad news headlines overshadowed the good ones.

I'm happy all the staff's hard work will be available for all to see soon, ESPECIALLY as a lover of the 90s anime aesthetic~ Ayaka's art is amazing + an original anime at that! STACKED staff on the production as well (people who've worked on Re:Zero, Jojo's, Death Note, Fruits Basket, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, and Oshi no Ko)~

@SuperAdventure Researching Ayaka and the many people on the staff who have worked on well-known anime (Satashi Ishino for example ) would show that "AI stylizing" is simply not true. Claiming it's AI without proof disregards all of the people who have worked on it.

@AngelAngel124 If you're referring to the production being able to be funded because of the original NFT project, then I would offer the idea that it is not inherently unethical because of NFTs. NFTs (like all technology) are a tool, and while many people have used them to exploit people, this does not seem to follow any of those trends.

It's unfortunate that the widespread misuse has given anything close to NFTs a controversial reputation. I would just encourage those who immediately think this is one of those unethical uses to do a bit more research.

Hey everyone,
We just released the theme song for Galverse.
It's made by Taku Takahashi from m-flo, and the vocals and lyrics are by KAMIYA. She is a gyaru hyperpop artist from Tokyo that the whole team really love.

Director Ayaka asked for a 'neo eurobeat' track, something high energy that recalls retro anime soundtracks, para para type eurobeat hits, but also sounding new and modern.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1X35rkB51w

We hope you love it too.

Thanks for the information.
@Absurdo_N

Hi, hope you doing well today.

As for the people you tagged, I think most of them, they don't have good knowledge of what web3 is (basing this from their comments - or only limited knowledge). Cuz based on their replies, they know only a few things, mix things up, focus only on the bad sides or on what they heard here and there, and they take shorcuts to label everything originating from "web3" as scam, unethical, etc.

Yes, there are lots of bad & scammy stuffs in web3 - trust me, people involved in web3 (like me) absolutely hate these bad sides too. However, the issue is when attacking the wrong people and the ethical projects with hard-working teams without doing research, it basically spreads fake information and damages the real people behind real projects.

They didn't do any research on Shinsei Galverse: the team behind, the amazing community behind, the origins of the project up the build up until now, who is working on this project, and how it was an innovative way to create an anime by involving a whole Community of fans who had a real impact and a say on the artistic work itself. Galverse's lead artist has worked in anime industry in Japan for long time too. And many other things have been done (including involving technology) and more will be to come. If you are interested to know the reality behind Galverse, I invite you to do some research of your own (visit pages on X or Discord channel for example).

Example: You asked Deg about "web 3", and Deg's reply is so incomplete that it made you think that this anime is made of AI. LOL.
The art is made by a lead Japanese artist who has been working in the industry for so long. For the anime, a great team of people are involved: from the production to the animators to the sound engineers, etc. And for the music and soundtrack, iconic partnership. For the voice actors, we know the lead VAs and it's only reputed and famous VAs recognized by their peers. Actually, all the aspects of the anime production and creation involve people recognized by their peers in the industry!

You think that these people would align and jump in to get involved in this anime project if it was made of fake stuff & scammy stuff???? Put their reputation on the line for this?

Please think again.

Also, as Deg pointed out that, MAL is owned by a web3 company. So it's quite funny to see some of the people commenting and hating but using MAL everyday lol.

Now, people can lack information, and not have time to research: no problem, of course it's natural. But replying and giving false info to fud an anime project just because they want to do some virtue-signaling doesn't help at all. Especially attacking one of the only real anime projects originating from the web3 space. Really, they couldn't be more wrong about Galverse.

If you have the time, I invite you to discover more about Shinsei Galverse, the team behind, the community. Some of the people in community gently pointed it out in some comments. Please don't base your opinion on Shinsei Galverse from a bunch of people who did little to no research and mix things up.

I took the time to reply with long comment cuz at least I care and I have been in the community (but I'm not part of the team): seeing incomplete / false info spread by people here made me frustrated. It's really an amazing & innovative anime project, and the team behind and the artist behind deserve all the credit, along with all people involved. If you want more information, feel free to ask! People in the Shinsei Galverse community are very nice and welcome anime fans with open arms - led by its incredibly friendly core team!

Have a great day and take care.
