| Companies only invest in something that they think will be profitable for them. New company ownership will more than likely implement unwanted changes that will try to bring in more money for them, but annoyances for us - potentially such as more ads, higher membership fees, pushing nfts, selling data acquired by AI scrapes, etc. I want to know how this is actually a good thing for us, the users. This is a family, a close-knit community and I don't want it violated by intruders that start rewriting the rule book. A few site feature upgrades with new investment can be delayed if it means I don't have to see my fave site slowly destroyed. EDIT: Just in case this site goes to hell, my Anilist link is in my profile if anyone wants to add me. I already had an account there but use it secondary compared to MAL. |

| @BronJosesMeowing That reminds me, MAL still divides new anime into multiple entries if they go a couple of months without airing new episodes. They don't do that with old anime, and I wish they had never begun the practice. I already requested something else in this thread, but combining split cours is just as important to me. The current inconsistency is infuriating. |

| Whatever you do PLEASE don't mess with the ui. This place becoming just another shitty "modern" styled website would kill what makes it stand out from it's competitors. Also add more job titles to choose from when adding anime staff information. It's really frustrating when more niche job titles aren't an option so you have to resort to either putting whatever is closest to what is correct, and then putting the correct title in the "details" section (i.e having chief director in parentheses next to the director title), or just straight up having to ignore some positions all together if none of the options come close enough. |

| I want to see MAL turned into a gacha game peddled to children with the goal of getting them addicted to gambling at an early age. This seems to be the general frontier of capitalism these days and hopefully we can help pioneer these developments to become a part of history. On a serious note, I just want the DB and list functions to remain intact. Don't mess with DB guidelines or the UI too much so things can stay the same on that front. And, ideally, get people to manage the DB who get actually paid for it which will hopefully lead to less delays and shorter queue times. I really feel like having it all done by volunteer mods who get nothing in return is very outdated considering how big MAL has become. It's becoming less and less feasible, especially on the manga side of things. I strongly doubt that will happen, but a man can dream. |

| @Yubisoft That filter is just there because mods got annoyed at large quote pyramids with responses like "^this" and "i agree". Quote pyramids started becoming collapsed so it became irrelevant. It is too long though since many topics can be answered with short responses and it doesnt even tell you when you type what your character count is. |

| Apparently, Gaudiy has a trailer, and it is so over the top that I feel cynical about this company. Also, after reading their website, I can see how acquiring MAL fits with their plan. They plan to make these "Fan Nations" where everyone could be happy. I think AI will help users find communities that they would like. (I feel like social media has already been doing that forever, but okay.) And there's something about creating an "economic ecosystem." Does that mean I will get two cents for giving my two cents? Probably, but I am not excited for it. |

I've only kept MAL because I still have a couple of mutuals and friends in here, but if the new changes are going to break what never needed to be fixed, then it's going to be devastating. I wonder what kind of people support MAL, or moderates MAL, for it to become such a letdown of a website? For the last decade, this site has been nothing but heavily questionable decisions.
