I thought Nakamaru would be involved in the case but it doesn't seem like it.

Unless she is dating the arsonist (Hiya?) or collaborating with Osanai in some way.

I really wonder did Osanai really forgot her book with that recepiet or Did she do it intentionally because she had 3 Questions for Urino and just asked two of them.

Was the third question related to the arson case ? Did she trying to make him feel like she is the arsonist ?
Anyway the build up for next ep is crazy .

Also , saw that break up coming . She is really a bitch also the smile from Kobato being unfazed was crazy and really not make him an "ORDINARY PERSON".

Ahh I've really loved this arc but I'm very excited to see how it'll all play out next episode. Also as an aside it's funny reading so many incel fuelled comments towards Nakamaru that at the same time completely ignore the sociopathic behaviour coming out of Jougorou.

Yeah she obviously wronged him, but people are not realizing his behavior and that he is in somewhat of a rat chase with his ex.

You can interpret whether or not Jougorou is chasing Osanai or is acting purely out of justice. I think it's a mix of the two, and he basically said as much in a previous conversation with Doujima. Putting his efforts and attention to the arson case over his relationship just because his ex is involved is strange behavior to say the least.

It's a great arc/addition to the theme of the MCs failing to become normal, veiled with Nakamaru's wrongdoing towards Jougorou. I really like how it was executed, as it felt tense but didn't hit a high too high of a climax. It just came and went and leaves you a bit to think about.

I had a potential interpretation that Nakamaru falsely gave the rumor to Yoshiguchi as a "test" of sorts to Jougorou, but as she softly admits to it in the conversation, that's out of the cards. It would have been an interesting angle, however, and would have further highlighted Jougorou's mistakes as a boyfriend, while still being slightly snakey from Nakamaru.

Sorry to yap, but found those comments funny as well and appreciate that someone else can see the nuance of the writing in this arc!

Can’t believe that Nakamaru had the nerve to put all the blame on him—a person like her, going around the neighborhood spreading STDs like freebies, and then has the audacity to say she’s in love? Acting like she actually cared about her relationship with him?

It left such a bitter taste seeing that she was the one who ended things. But for once, I’m actually grateful—knowing Kobato, he would’ve kept the relationship going until Nakamaru had enough fun with him and tossed him aside. It’s sad to see that Kobato himself doesn’t even care about this—he was literally getting cheated on and didn’t give a damn.

If you noticed, she revealed that her other boyfriends used to get flustered over the rumors surrounding her—this shows how severe her actions were, and that Kobato isn’t her first victim... and definitely won’t be the last.

So it seems like the next episode will finally bring an end to the arson incidents—and the reason behind them. We’ve gotten a strong hint that Osanai is behind it all. Does that mean Osanai left the book that gave some kind of clue to Urino about her involvement—or was it pointing to someone else? And does that mean Urino’s suspicious best friend, Hiya, wasn’t behind it all? Or maybe only some of them? There are just so many questions that still need answers.

Osanai controlling Urino's friend to start the fires. Next

But is that really it? I might have to burn some brain juice to predict what's gonna happen next episode

wow so Kobato just didn't care one bit, yeah that's pretty cold
but she didn't deserve any better
it is pretty obvious he's still hung up on Osanai (probably not even in a romantic way), so far she was the only one who could match his genious

it's funny watching Osanai trying to be as suspicious as possible in front of Urnio, she's leading him by his nose, question is: to where?
the most suspicious person is Urino's friend, he has some very detailed information about the acts of arsons, for someone who's always in cram school and never available at the times of the arsons
@imSOunique I'm sure Kobato saw her intentions and true self a mile away (from my perspective)

I believe Osanai really cared for Urino, like a pet, that’s why she’s trying to support his ambitions in the newspaper club. But, I think she also believe Urino is too innocent in catching the Serial Arsonist who could be really dangerous. She really did try to dissuade from pursuing the Arsonist and wanted an "ordinary person", but Urino don’t want to listen.

So she put into herself to catch the Serial Arsonist. Much like Hannibal Lecter, it takes a psychopath to catch psycopath. As we see in first season Osanai is ruthless when she wanted to catch her pray.

Of course this would leave Urino to think that Osanai is the suspect, after all those suspicious clues of going late at night. Naturally, Kobato is much smarter and probably knew who the real Arsonist is, in-spite of that.
@inisipis I think Osanai at first didn't care too much about Urino, just started to go out on a whim, but then as we see she started to grow fond of him in episode 2 and 3 (waiting for him), but then Urino messed it up
so now that's over and she's using him in some kind of plot
but idk, she might still care, or just like Kobato, never cared at all

anyway next episode we finally get answers, I have no idea what's going on lol

@imSOunique - From what I get from last season, the reason Osanai and Kobato must break up, because that being together makes it impossible for them to be "Ordinary life". So to Osanai having an "Ordinary" boyfriend might be a good step to that. Osanai is fine to helping with Urino’s ambition to be successful with the News Magazine Club, even becoming President. However, Urino was too ambitious and wanted to Capture the arsonist himself, which is going beyond what a News reporter, much less a High-school student should be doing.

In their Corridor talk, Osanai heavily "hinted" that she wanted to have an "Ordinary life and an Ordinary boyfriend", but Urino didn’t want that before trying to kiss Osanai. That’s when Osanai did that "Book receipt trick", mockingly Urino with that "You’re no Daisy, you’re no Daisy…. you’re just high-strung." Smile*.

Smiling like that the whole time while being broken up with sure is creepy:

Meanwhile, it seems like Urino has been neglecting doing actual Newspaper Club work and just focusing on catching his "Fireman"/"Firewoman".

They've been trying to hype up this case by prolonging it like how an action anime does its fights into a big finale for some reason. This case has gone on for too long, for no reason. So does Urino think its Osanai who is the culprit thanks to her giving him false hints back at the club room? Anyway hopefully we be done with this.

The Main thing that I remember from this episode is that Kobato's girlfriend broke up with him, Apparently according to the forum replies she was literally CHEATING ON HIM. Cmon Kobato you deserve better than that, you don't solve useless mysteries for nothing.

@phantomfandom also, the receipt of the book Osanai "forgot" in the club room shows that the store where it was bought is in the same area where the arson happened in July
@diegontijo She had a different receipt last episode too; one used to block the kiss.

Tokiko was right about Kobato. Dating a girl he has 0 interest in for an entire year; giving 0 f's whether she's loyal or a cheater, and having that appalling NPC smile 24/7, it's really disturbing and that's why he indeed SUCKS. I see comments bashing Tokiko, but at least she's honest about herself and knows she's a bitch. Doesn't change the fact Kobato sucks too.

Oh, So Dojima quit the newspaper club as the fall guy, huh. So I was wrong in that he left the club for academic reasons. Although it probably coincided with them entering their 3rd year soon so maybe it just worked out that way.

I was wondering who Yoshiguchi was, and had to look it up. She was the short-haired girl from the first season, I believe.

Nakamura the ex gf is for the streets! Is Kobato a psychopath? Maybe. Who knows. But a two-timer cheater or town bicycle is infinity worse.

Urino's article, combined with Itsukaichi's way of interpretation, certainly raises hairs of the arsonist being referred to as the "Fireman" to keep mum about potential copycats and only speak about the truth, he does have quite the forward thinking going for him. Thankfully with Hiya providing another POV depth, Urino can then further confirm whether he's on the right track or not, though Osanai reads the article like she found an inherent minor mistake within it. Still, the confidential information that Osanai request Urino for, as a way to keep her innocence with her love for sweets, the 3rd item on her list was defintely holding out a mystery yet unknown.

With the way of Jogoro chooses to prioritize the minute details, as compared to Urino focusing on the big picture, and Osanai's inclusion in the matter as Doujima had sufficed to the police when he was called for questioning, more than protecting Urino and the kouhais, the plan in two different executions, still has to go on. However, the tense confrontation coming from Nakamura that Jogoro didn't put effort into the relationship, more than his poker face that gives off a nonchalant attitude towards the girl that has been cheating on him, no matter how genuine she turns out to be, she sees through him and ends the relationship there and then.

The rat race between Jogoro and Doujima against the newspaper club to figure out the arsonist, it's definitely a race against time that has pride on the line (at least to Urino), and though the clear culprit being Osanai, what's her role in leading the latter club astray?
