Well, that Grace girl is more sensitive than I had expected. She's not even a main character but got relevance this episode.

Philia taking on the role of a tutor was not on my bingo book this season. She does get along well with Grace so her personality isn't holding either of them back.

Philia finally gets her first student—Grace. She seems to love Philia deeply, as her writing was her salvation during difficult times. Grace comes across as a kind and thoughtful character who sees Philia's true worth, unlike her parents and Julius, who only view her writing as shameful and as a way to boast about her achievements. Most importantly, Philia begins to accept that not everyone sees her that way—some genuinely appreciate what she does.

Philia’s aunt Hildegard’s teaching methods are terrifying—they go beyond extreme.

It's sad and bittersweet that Reichardt came to visit his beloved Elizabeth’s grave, while Julius, in contrast, hated her and sold off her fiancé. Still, it’s cute to see Emily working hard to set Philia up with Oswald.

I knew it was coming—the idiots would ask for Philia to be returned. But I’m sure neither the princes of Parnakorta will agree to such a ridiculous request, since they’ve already purchased Philia, nor would Philia want to return willingly. Either Mia has run away, or they’ve finally realized they need Philia to handle all the work she once did. Still, I doubt they truly value her.

“The world I lived in was so small wasn’t it” 😢 best episode by far. Philia getting a student was arguably the best thing to happen in her entire life. She’s finally realizing what I been screaming at my tv the last month. Just because your parents didn’t appreciate you doesn’t mean you haven’t had a massive impact on the world and people around you! Your sister idolises you, Grace idolises you, the maid and butler idolise you and Prince Osvald adores you! So happy for her.

Grace being a massive Philia stan is so cute. The way she hangs onto every word Philia says like it’s gospel has me smiling so hard. Philia doesn’t even realize how much of the ideal big sister she is to two girls now. I’d love to see Mia and Grace meet and just bond over how much they stan Philia 😂 Grace, as the youngest sister, can sort of empathise with Philia too over their mistreatment. Grace’s dad seems cool, but her other sister seem to ignore and not think highly of her.

Heart breaks for Prince Reichardt. He and Elizabeth situation reminds me a lot of an arc from Shiroseijyo/Saint Cecilia and pastor Lawrence. Wish they could’ve got a happy ending 😔

“If your parents won’t acknowledge you I’ll acknowledge all you’ve done in their stead.” Ahhhh Osvald is such a natural romantic I love this dude he knows exactly what to say and he’s so understanding of Philia’s trauma. You can tell he doesn’t want to be too pushy and wants her to slowly open up on her own terms which she did there by showing the most emotion we’ve seen yet!! Love this ship

Lmaaooo Giratona must be smoking crack if they think there’s a return policy on saints. You sold her, that’s the end of that. Should’ve thought better about it and treated her better 👍 it’ll be interesting to see how this turns out

Everything was going fine, a perfect and chill episode with Philia bonding with her new pupil Grace, knowing the tough past/love she had from her teacher, and also about why one of the heir to the royal throne has a particular hobby, I'm telling you a great episode imo, but then 30 seconds away from the finish line those fuckers, the Girtonia kingdom sent a letter demanding Philia back to them. Fuck those guys, they can get nuked for all I care, (except Philia's sister, she deserves better too).

They should just answer to Girtonia: "F*** off!"
But, does Philia want to go back? It is, after all, her home and her sister is still there.

Oswald to Philia: I want you to do less job
Also Oswald: I want you to be a tutor
Royal hypocrisy at its best.

I'm not too worried about Philia returning to her old kingdom since she technically receive the same treatment anywhere she go, poor her.
What I'm worried, is that someone prevent her from returning to her old kingdom. Because that'd mean she no longer has a freedom of movement.
But I don't blame Oswald and his kingdom for a bit, since they buy her, it's very logical that they'd want her to stay with them at any cost.

So now all of the sudden, the kingdom of Girtonia wants Philia back? I was so happy for her that she's finally out of that hell hole, but now.. what will they do?

I am glad Philia is gradually opening up, she finally realized there's much bigger world out there

2/5 episode, if I’m gonna be honest—at least to me. Like, it’s understandable that Parnacorta and Bolmem are on good terms, but when kingdoms are that close, the deals should be mutually beneficial. So Philia teaching Grace for free feels a bit weird to me. Not that I’m complaining about Grace as a person—she’s a bit spoiled, yeah, but also very cute, so it balances out. My issue is more with Philia, who has just started being treated decently, only to now be told to work unpaid overtime? I know it’s not nearly as bad as what she went through in Girtonia, but still—it feels a bit exploitative, is all.

Exploitation aside, I never imagined there was another kind and considerate relative of Philia besides Mia. I’m glad Hildegard taught her everything Philia is now capable of, especially since, surprisingly enough, she literally called it years ago. So, chapeau to Ms. Hildegard for basically predicting the future.

Hildegard aside, I have to apologize for making fun of this episode’s title in the previous poll, just because it resembled Golden Frieza from DBS. The reason I’m apologizing is because I almost cried—first, during Reichardt’s story to Grace and Philia about his heartbreaking relationship with Elizabeth, and again when Oswald told Philia how depressed he used to be. I couldn’t relate personally, but I can’t imagine how painful it must be for those who can. Seriously.

Reichardt aside, I’m really happy that Oswald and Philia’s romance has finally started—this episode felt like its official prologue. They haven’t really spoken much these past few episodes, but for the first time since the anime’s actual prologue, someone finally managed to make Philia feel flustered—and that someone is Oswald. Let’s go, baby. The romance has begun.

Romance aside, I totally called that cliffhanger from a mile away. It was so predictable, considering Girtonia’s been reaping what they sowed for the last few episodes. Serves them right, honestly—they took Philia for granted and tossed her aside like she was nothing, even selling her to another kingdom. I really hope Parnacorta rejects Girtonia’s request to return her, because they honestly deserve eradication. The only one I’m worried about is Mia. I really don’t get why she declined Himari’s offer to escape together. If that offer gets brought back, I really hope she accepts it.

Generally a good episode with a bit more insight into the two princes which I feel was needed to appreciate their characters more which I do a little more now. The real kicker was the ending now they just want her back like wtf.

Im assuming something happened between Mia and her parents or that bratty prince and now they want her back. I guess we will find out next episode

As I understand it, even if she wanted to return (and why would she?), she can't return without collapsing the grand ritual and exposing the kingdom to danger again, which they wouldn't agree to.

No Mia this episode? 0/10, Jk, it was a decent episode, characters are still fine, but they really aren't written well enough for this show to hold up. Plot is "moving" but it's still really unclear where the heck this wants to go, really hoping this gets better as it goes on because the show is struggling to go anywhere meaningful right now.

@Marinate1016 Honestly this show so far definitely feels like someone took Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence, mixed it with My Happy Marriage, then kinda butchered the plot into nothingness, and then tried to flatten the characters personalities to make them a bit less interesting.

It kinda feels like they don't have a clear direction for this show to go unlike Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence, as nothing here is really focused on, nor is anything taken that far in depth either, makes me kinda worry that the plot that this show does have is gonna be pretty meaningless in the end.

Not everything needs to have a complex plot. It’s very clear the point of the story rn is Philia’s emotional development after being stunted for so long. That takes time. Then the other plot involves the reborn demon lord who is probably behind some of the Julius stuff. Not everything needs to happen in 2-3 episodes lol.

Calm ep

Philia gains a new student named Grace who is very eager to learn.

Nice to see how much the prince honorably honors his fiancé despite being such a busy man.

Great moment between Philia and Oswald, blushing Philia is quite adorable.

Lmao, that goofy prince thinks she's coming back, though im sure philia might go bc of her sister; who knows.

Surely Philia needs to stay because of that barrier she set up. Also, what would happen if they refused? They'd get attacked by an army previously established to be shit?

Looks like the next episode will be a Mia episode and that she's already put an end to the prince's days of doing whatever he wants.

@Marinate1016 I get that it's supposed to be part of the show's focus, but the writing makes it REALLY hard to take the emotional stuff seriously most of the time. Like I get that the emotional development is important for Philia's character, but the way Julius and her parents did stuff was just written so poorly that it's hard to take anything involved with that seriously, like there's stupid & poorly written characters and then there's whatever the heck Julius is supposed to be.

My Happy Marriage for example had a (somewhat) more reasonable and realistic "excuse" for the way the parents treated Miyo, as the step mother didn't like the child that wasn't her own, and Miyo was born in a family that took great pride around their "gifts" when Miyo ended up having none. Not saying the writing was perfect either, but they had reasoning behind their treatment of her that was taken seriously and wasn't just a "I don't like you because you" type of statement and furthermore Miyo was absolutely not "useful" or "essential" to the family so getting rid of her wasn't a problem for them, but in this case Philia is holding the entire kingdom up not just her family and the parents just throw her away and act like they don't need her when they obviously really do. The way acted and what they did to Philia is pretty pathetic and mostly just outright nonsense and had nothing backing it, hence why I call it bad writing as the "emotional" parts of the show have basically no impact or value due to it.

I'm not saying everything needs to have a complex plot, nor does it need to have complex characters, but having writing like this is basically like backstabbing the whole emotional development point of the story, even unrealistic or simple shows needs to have characters that are written well enough or "realistically" enough to make it's plot work. Unless the show's plot can have more to offer than what it has shown so far the show itself is gonna crumble under the flaky footing of it's own writing problems.

Not to say this show is outright bad or anything (if anything it's still decently entertaining at the least), but it's writing issues are really stabbing it in the foot every step of the way.

That ending. Gritonia wants Philia back. What did they spend to get a saint? Something like 2 years of the national budget? I wouldn't even bother with the letter. Especially how abusive Gritonia was originally to Philia.

Philia actually realising that the world is not just what she knows, and followed by her discovering new emotions thoughts and forging bonds is always good to see.

Grace is very exciting, thought her personality don't seem in-like with our precious saint, she definitely has what it takes to give Philia new motivation.

And for the cliffhanger, I'm taking a guess that Mia ran away. Or they're calling her back because of the increase in monsters. But anyhow seems like we're getting lots of wholesomeness next episode.

I'm happy we found out if she indeed decided to read the romance novel lol

Philia's tutor student of the Kingdom of Bolmern's saint family of 4th daughter Grace Mattilas arrives onto the scene, days after Osvalt introduced her into the role after her work on the Great Purification Circle, which takes a rather mental and knowledgeable toll. Though Grace clearly being a fangirl over Philia, her still taking the lessons seriously after reading her published books, which then culminating in the very meeting with the Saint herself, once again, her works spread all across the region has managed to save someone outside of Girtonia.

Though the methods of Philia's training within her own family, as is through her paternal aunt and Girtonia's predecessor Saint Hildegard, is quite the hard lesson amidst some family drama. Amidst trying to read and understand the romance novels loaned from Lena, Grace seeing her sister Elizabeth's grave in Parnacorta, alongside the to-be-fiancé of Prince Reichardt, it certainly was a moment to remember, not just shed tears. The surprise from Osvalt hearing that despite his love to his family, yet not wanting to play politics and be a prince to set his official duties aside, Philia slowly realizes that much ado like Osvalt, she was also chasing for approval for the people she wants her to acknowledge to, yet already having done the groundwork for the people who are already influenced by her, she has finally realized that those are more important than chasing for endless goals.

Well, the idiots over at Girtonia finally realizing their mistake to want to have Philia back, how will Osvalt and Parnacorta respond?

I like emotional change in Philia. She start to heal because she is finally in friendly enviorment.

About Girtionia: 2nd prince with Philia's parents burn their book. They pure stupidity and audacity is on another level.

If Philia wasn't bullied from the young age, they would be harshly fined or even exiled for the heresy / potential demonic influence. Which is present, as we saw.

LOL, the new girl is so energetic and hopeful.

And it's so nice that the other countries are still reading her book, unlike the greedy bastards in her home country.

TBH, it feels really fun to teach this girl, she's so positive and would try to do what you're teaching her with no complains.

.

Tho... LOL @ Philia's master making her do all sort of weird training.

(but it looks like her master... has also suffered the same shitty fate, as to the reason why the master tries to teach Philia all sort of things, so Philia can be prepared)

.

And they remanence about Liz (the dead Saint), however they still didn't mention the reason for her death. Exactly how did she die? Since it doesn't look like she was suffering any bullying like Philia, it looked like Liz lived a pretty peaceful life.

Then Philia talks with the other Prince... and thinks about her own life and what it means to "make others happy"... kinda sad tho...

Since Philia said she had others around that makes her happy. Except... she literally thought of TWO... her sister and a random village kid... everyone else was from this other country... So yea... before she arrive to this other country, it means she wasn't happy at all.

.

And then the bastard country wants the Saint back... fuck those guys, personally I would wish for that country to get destroyed.

___ ___ ___

If Philia wasn't bullied from the young age, they would be harshly fined or even exiled for the heresy / potential demonic influence. Which is present, as we saw.

LOL, they wouldn't be fined.

Remember, the king was already on his bed, dude doesn't go out in public anymore.

And the 1st prince was scared of the 2nd prince and thus doesn't go out anymore.

the 2nd prince literally have 100% power in that country, no one isn't going to fine or exile them, in fact it would be the opposite, like what he did to Philia when he kicked her out of the country.

The prince and the parents are on the same page, they support each other, so they don't complain about the other.

.

Basically imagine Trump, all his shit he's done, all the court cases, he's already legally convict. But yet he still got voted into Presidency and reversed all court orders and made himself immune. This is the same thing the 2nd prince is doing in this series. Remember, anime takes inspiration from Real Life.
