Damn, just when I thought this might of been a peaceful episode after the case, it got violent.

Luckily, they managed to stop the crime and knife stabbing guy fast. Echika and Harola's relationship seems more complicated now after the more recent events. Echika is still performing her duties as usual so not much changed on her end. Not a fan of this series' criminals so far. None of them yet really made a strong impression.

Loving the character designs, everyone's kinda simple and clean-cut, but it just works. Plus the way they zigzag around the planet as if everything's just a short bus ride away is fun. Good choice not spending too much time on travel details, that really makes the difference.

And damn if that pancake didn't make me hungry.

No way this universe got Qanon and Reddit too 😂 that aside, this arc is off to a frustrating start. You can’t just tear my robo/human ship apart like this!!

Echika losing her abilities reminds me of Peter losing his in Spider-man 2. Both stemming from trauma, I really hope she’s able to regain them soon. Seeing her without Harold just don’t feel right and I don’t know how to feel about his new partner. She’s cute, but something’s off. Whether it’s a genuine issue or just me wanting Echika back with him idk.

It’s sweet that Harold still calls Echika cyber-inspector and clearly misses her too. That human neural pattern Lexie made for him really showing off today with his emotional intelligence.. I just hate how Echika tries to shoulder so much of the burden alone. Knowing what she knows about Harold’s true design and not being able to tell anyone has to be hell.

This Sozon case I’m guessing is from volume 1 that was skipped because I don’t remember him being in the show, but Echika should be honest with Harold that she wants to be back with him and not decide his goals for him!

Hopefully Bigga can come in clutch and help her, also curious about this Eanon dude and what’ll happen with him

Well seems like Heida has some things to work out with her skills and getting them back.
Harold seems to be pretty clear on what he wants but Heida seems to have other ideas for the time being.

Getting PTSD from being kidnapped is very common in real world, yet very rare in anime world, so I'm glad this anime apply this into its plot.

As Echika holds onto the truths and secrets she learned about Harold from Lexie, the psychological stress from bearing it all has begun to affect her. This led to a decline in her data-processing ability, ultimately making her unqualified to continue as a cyber-inspector and resulting in her reassignment to the Support Unit.

Raissa may have a pretty face, but she’s not on the same level as Echika. Despite having feelings for Harold, Echika still refuses to be direct or confront him with what she knows, in line with the so-called Law of Respect.

Meanwhile, Group E and its followers are stepping onto the big stage, even willing to commit crimes just to uncover the truth behind the conspiracy theories posted by E.

@phantomfandom Yes, but that was an excuse, the real reason, or rather the conversation with Lexie, she couldn't say.

I get the feeling that in adaptations, something is clearly being missed and I'm not just talking about volume 1.

In the end, the stress of being kidnapped and the mental strain of hiding the truth from Harold caused Echika's performance and skills as a cyber-inspector to deteriorate, resulting in her transfer.

As for the protagonists' new teammates, Raissa seems likeable, and I'm curious to know if she will eventually develop feelings for Harold. Ivan, on the other hand, looks like an antagonist, but I can't judge him by appearances.

As for the story, it still feels like something is missing (they obviously skipped the beginning). They mentioned the supposed reason Harold became a cyber inspector's assistant, but the adaptation falls short. Even elements that could have been developed more, such as Echika's stress at being kidnapped, are presented in such a simple way that they are barely noticeable or issues such as what happened to Bigga are left at a mere mention.

Didn’t realize the villain this time is:

Jokes aside, this is another time where I feel like the situation would hit harder if we got a proper adaptation, like I’m not feeling as much as I should seeing Echika be forced to split with Harold, or Bigga’s involvement as well, but I do still think this is an interesting direction for the plot to go. We’re getting to see Echika in a different light with her new partners (they seem cool), and how she’s dealing with things without Harold, and the answer is not good lol. It’s unfortunate that Echika is choosing to take all of this on by herself but I can see why she would, but then you also have Harold forming a new partnership with Raissa rubbing further salt in the wound… yeah Echika’s mental health is taking a beating lol.

But Raissa does seem nice, but at the same time sus, there’s no reason to think so but it’s just a mystery plot kinda thing you know, I hope for her sake that she isn’t but the feeling is still there. And this E situation is a cool one, it’s one thing to be a conspiracy theorist, but to also promote violence is something else, I don’t blame people for being sus of the word around them in this a timeline like this but yeah maybe don’t stab the robots when they’re just serving people lol.

@ShiroAlex It's the emotional impact. This anime is really rushing things along and not giving time to key scenes to linger and leave an effect on the viewers.

One example is in the previous episode when Aidan was uploading Harold's code to the public Internet. In the novel, when Echika picks up the tablet, she really, really is conflicted on whether to stop the upload or let it proceed. She hesitates before pressing the button and finally makes a heavy decision to stop it. This is a very significant moment of character development for her which is not showcased at all in the anime, since she almost instantly hits the stop button as soon as she picks up the tablet with no sign of inner turmoil.

Many conversations are shortened or outright omitted as well. Like in this episode, the scene when Harold was watching Echika through the glass door being demoted and reassigned. In the anime, we just see her mouth moving and hands waving since she's in a soundproof room. But in the novel the entire conversation is written out. It adds a lot of personality to both Echika and her boss Totoki which goes completely missing in the anime.

@Banshee-IV @Banshee-IV Thanks, that's what I figured, they cut out a huge amount of detail, it can be worse of course, but overall it's very noticeable here. I guess they cut something out of Bigga's story too, it was weirdly staged, especially the mistake that cost the ballerina's career?

That's all in Volume 1 which the anime stupidly skipped (even Kana Hanazawa was surprised the anime was just gonna start with Volume 2). I don't recall all the finer details since it's been a while since I read it, but the basic gist of the situation is that Bigga was using her bio-hacking skills to help her cousin Clara further her ballerina career by illegally fine-tuning her muscle control through Your Forma module (basically, the hacking equivalent of Olympic doping). However, the crime that is the focus in Volume 1 is that a cyber-virus is somehow infecting Your Formas without an obvious method of transmission, and Clara got infected. Clara couldn't go to a hospital for treatment because it would expose the fact that Bigga was bio-hacking her body illegally, so Bigga tried to treat her in a janky manner using some back-alley suppressants that were supposed to only shut down the virus but she botched the treatment and it made the viral infection worse for Clara. She got saved by Echika and Harold but her ballerina career was finished after that because the combination of the illegal bio-hacking, the viral infection, and then Bigga's quack suppressant treatment wrecked her fine muscle control and she can never dance again.

Yet again, this episode just felt like we are missing way too much content. I went back to make sure I didn't skip an entire episode or something, but I had not. Aside from the cut content, I'm probably missing things that we are actually shown because I'm having a hard time focusing on the broken nature of the narrative. This anime does have something really good going for it though...the OP and ED songs. This is the first time I have ever had my #1 OP song and #1 ED song for an anime season coming from the same show.

Didn't the director believe skipping the first volume as a part of the show would spice things up?

Echika still reeling from the aftereffects of the RF Amicus fiasco, which unfortunately raises the danger with the hacking of the Your Forma system from someone named R with its own take of society that becomes quite the talking point. Up until then, Echika choosing to reject Harold with the transfer to another department, as Harold surmises her being in that exact spot to get transferred out and him getting a new cyber-inspector of Raissa Robin to continue the case.

On the streets of Moscow, cyber-inspector Ivan and his familiar being able to confront any stakes going where the cult ollows them, and Harols gets all the help he needs. But the partner that he's grown close to, Echika feeling herself not being worthy to stand alongside him to steer him away from her, the defragmentation of the cyber-inspector against the horde of E's fans is just one matter to deal with on top of her usual duties.

Bigga being worried about Haruka, as much as she is worried for her sister Clara on top of the Sozon case (which was sadly just glossed over), another high-stakes investigation is about to begin...

The new cyber inspector Raissa is hot, but I don't expect her to last long. She might even die.

While I love this episode, this arc where Echika tried to regain her ability better be good.
