@rahez it's 26 episodes...

Really 26 episodes?
Is there any official information about it?
@rahez Was confirmed during Summer Pockets livestream last year that it would be 2 consecutive cours. It's very old news at this point, the part about being 2 cour instead of 1.

Then the Episodes names leaked, showing 26 episodes.

@FarCritical When I saw that I took a screenshot to post here when I finished the episode, but it seems like I was not the only one to notice that detail.
Is that a reference to something? Probably just an easter egg...
(Although there is a japanese company named KEY COFFEE, it's most likely a coincidence.)
@FarCritical @gorkthe134th This is something all Key (the VN studio who wrote + developed the game, look at the first frame of the OP) have in them, Angel Beats!, Clannad, Charlotte etc. almost every single one has Key vending machine's and items with the company's logo on them

@Cestlavie_ I will once again bring up Maeda only did the concept and some OSTs+ED song and this is Nijima Yu and Kai's work none of the story was Maeda. Also tick of meaningful songs, the OP is straight up a spoiler with it's lyrics but it isn't very clear until that plot point happens

So all of the sudden it turned into One Piece lol

But seriously, Kamome remembered all that but she doesn't remember what they looked like (yeah I am aware people grow up so they will look different) or even their name? they made promise to look for the treasure again after 10 years (why 10? they don't leave contact information? or they just gonna all show up 10 years after?) even though Hairi is standing right in front of her, and he appear to be one of the crew members
@Kai200X @LordCrueltyV @Vaturna @Vaturna @Dignity @TheColonel76 It'll all make sense most likely next episode but there is a reason with everything you guys are talking about (except for finding keys quickly that takes about a week in the VN) although some things will probably remain unclear until we get the explanation for a certain major plot point in Ao's arc.

@KanekoKTIA Well I would imagine they’d eventually answer our questions lol, I’m just kinda throwing them out there for now along with some predictions, I think it’s fun trying to figure mysteries out before they’re revealed. Thanks for the heads up tho!

@TheColonel76 yeah I just found it funny how wrong some of these are and how much I thought it was obvious in the game only for some completely unexpected thing that no one could ever guess to happen, hell the whole game was like this right down to who the most important character is. Going to be fun watching people chuck out theories that make sense but are completely wrong

Honestly, the keys surviving in their respective hiding spots isn't that much unbelievable.
I attended highschool in some remote area. Went to the city for college and worked for a few years. When I eventually returned, things barely changed.
The houses, some small structures, the trees, heck even the potholes on the road remained the same.
What more on a laid-back island such as in the setting? There are just places where time is seemingly frozen.
@EienGem
The key at the shrine looked by far the least realistic to me, since the pouch was just lying on the ground below it behind one of the small wooden supports and since the area looks fairly easy to clean. I initially had trouble imagining how the key could have survived, but it's probably not as impossible as I first thought (especially on this kind of island where not a lot of people come and go and depending on who's responsible for maintaining the shrine).

The other three hiding spots are definitely much better.

@KanekoKTIA Lol yeah I get that same feeling when I’m watching LPs on Danganronpa games by people who haven’t played them before, with this being a Key series I’m sure I’m gonna be mostly wrong on my guesses aside from what I’ve already gotten correct like Hairi being in the summer camp (assuming that actually is him), it’s all in good fun tho.

Thank god at least Kamome's route got 4 episodes.

There's got to be a reason why Kamome carries her suitcase everywhere she goes unless it's just a fun signature look for the character.
Anyways she's probably my least favourite character so far. This episode might be the start to where this anime is going (maybe not), but these last two episodes (especially episode 3) have felt like a nothingburger and weak.
I know it's a slice of life.

I think I'm going to drop this one here. I was really looking forward to this show back when I first heard of it but idk I'm just not enjoying it as much as I thought I would :/

pick it back up when the anime has more episodes down the line, it's one of these slow burn comedies at the start, then the full switch happens

at least that's what i'm assuming, any key written / jun madea involved work has that same theme
@hypexleaks I was actually thinking about maybe putting this on hold last night until more episodes are out but idk, still debating

Wow, I'm glad if it's true and 2 consecutive cour is perfect than split cour and 1 season break.

I knew Summer Pockets because the anime released. So I didn't know the live stream and Visual Novels before this month.

my .02

The whole episode is about Kamome and Hairi spending their day chilling around and finding the keys for the treasure chest. They're really comfortable around each other, like they've been friends forever. Friendly picking on each other (Hairi kept calling her "sheep Kamomeeeehhh" 🐑. She's a wanderer type after all, just like a sheep. Sheeps are not typical of islands though... she's an imported sheep?). There's good chemistry between them. I was hoping they would find a diamond ring in that treasure chest and be married on the spot!!

The boy Taka in the intro's flashback is probably young Hairi judging from his general appearance. Hairi has the same knee-jerk reaction as Taka when he calls Kamome a liar towards the end of the episode. Both Taka and Hairi call Kamome a liar. This might mean that Taka and Hairi are the same person.

So that flashback was useful because it shows a pattern of mistrusting behavior from Hairi's side. Because of this Kamome might feel misunderstood and became sort of a wanderess. Kamome may feel like the wandering sheep that becomes adrift. She is finding her purpose. She seemingly starts as a drifter, but then Hairi finds her, then it's the treasure hunt, then the pirate ship, and after that... who knows, maybe love 💓? Maybe Kamome is struggling to find a long term purpose (becoming Hairi's wife on that pirate ship?). Being a drifter has more negative connotations to it. Wanderers have a goal but no direction (like a grazing sheep), while drifters have neither. Wanderers and drifters overlap a lot... we shall see how all this connects to her character development.

A few other things caught my eye:

  • I noticed Kamome's suitcase did not show signs of inertia when she zooms around. Even if it's not packed full it should have some momentum when moved around because it's a sturdy object with wheels.

  • Why is Kamome carrying that suitcase everywhere she goes? Why not store it at Hairis house?

  • Who would hide a porno mag in a chickens coop 💋🐔? Not the chickens, for sure. Shiroha's grandpa didn't seem impressed by Kamome's schoolgirl uniform judging from his neutral reaction (unlike Hairi who had a typical boy reaction to it). I think the idea here was to portray Shiroha's family environment in a limited way. We got some hints about Shiroha's family keeping her socially cooped up or isolated like the chickens (an overprotective family), and maybe this explains Shiroha's shyness and mistrust?

  • ⚔️ We got a bit of an implied confrontation between Shiroha and Kamome at the chicken coop. Shiroha seemed highly dismissive of Kamome, which might be a sign of jealousy or competition (Kamome noted that behavior later). I was mildly amused by that.

  • Kamome wears a cute, stylized maid outfit with an atypical black belt (🥋, enhancing her dark features) when taking care of Hairi's house, and she seemed delighted.

  • The contents of the treasure chest I interpret is the same map they showcased in the intro's flashback with added notes about the pirate ship. So what these kids did back then was, they started with a normal geographic map of the island then went on treasure hunting. They found this pirate ship and were all hyped about it because boats are so cool. They wrote everything down on top of their map and saved it in a chest while making the promise of returning 10 years later. (btw, from a security perspective, you'd never write the location of the keys on the same piece of paper. It defeats the purpose of having multiple locks).

  • It surprised me how chill and agreeable Tsumugi is (btw, I love how she keeps saying "mugyu" over and over again, it's kinda cute). She's more like the quiet helper type. She also doesn't look like a very bright girl -mugyu. I kinda feel bad for her though because her beloved lighthouse is surrounded by trash. Don't litter! 🚫

  • Kamome's hair pin, her attachment to that suitcase, and her belief that the pirate ship would still be there after 10 years just waiting for her, could mean she is idealizing her childhood memories, making her a somewhat quixotic character. Is Kamome living in the past?

Also I like to see Kamome's group more detailled in this version, in the VN they only appear in one constantly reused illustration.

This episode felt more "let's just have the puzzles from the game be solved in the episode" than before.

But if you don't take the gameness into account, this girl's story has some major holes. She and her Goonies party had to leave the day after they found the ship, and yet in that time they were able to acquire four chain locks with four distinct but matching keys in matching pouches and a chest, then distribute the keys to their respective hiding places? And somehow despite one of them just lying on the ground and one being in someone's porn stash, they were still there ten years later? Very fishy.

But if you do take the gameness into account: very cute, very fun, lovin' it.

@Vaturna I admit the one in the shrine is just downright hilarious. The pouch isn't even covered in dust or the least bit discolored.
But then again, this was supposed to be a story conveying a "summery vibe" not something like a detective story needing level of intricacy and they simply decided a lot more things deserve more screentime. There's 3 more heroines to meet afterall.

My headcanon on this part is simply: "A shrine maiden has been taking care of it all this time!"

One whole ep for finding all the keys. Then next ep will be the start of their journey going to the pirate ship. Saying that 3 eps are alloted for Kamome scenario, it will take 12 eps to complete the 4 heroines. Or say that 4 eps each will take 16 eps for the 4 of them. Then we have 10 eps for ALKA? Deym, that's too long! Or ig ALKA scenario really is long? Sheesh, I hate it when I haven't completely finished the source which makes me overly conscious. Welp, it really just means that I need to finish it before it becomes on-screen.

Going back, I can't help but to giggle while watching this ep since I was a victim as well of the "obvious stuff" LMAO.
Honestly, Kamome's scenario had the most mind blowing turn of events among the 4 heroines *insert Dio Brando meme*.

In addition, we got blessed yet again by Tsumugyu's appearance on this ep. I really like her trademark, so cute!

Whew bad end avoided folks.

This anime is going at a breakneck pace and honestly it's being handled pretty well. Though I do hope Ao's route to get at least 5 episodes considering her route carries a lot more weight than some of the others and because she's best girl.

Remember, vn players, posting open spoilers is cringe.

Kinda off topic with the episode, but Konomi just announced at KSL 2025 that the 2nd ending will be a new song. She sang it. It's good. Title is "フィニステラー".

As for this episode.... I think they're still going at a good pace to make this a decent adaptation. Needs more Umi tho

As it turns out, both young Hairi and Kamome's treasure adventure with the school kids, the leader herself holds the keys, which are from hints in the diary, though it's unclear from its depiction. To that, they turn to Tsumugi Wenders, the protector of the lighthouse for help if it's located anywhere near the sea, though it doesn't take long for them to solve the first of 4 riddles, situated near a shrine. The second riddle literally in a dog's guardhouse, and it's easier to find than the first one, which is a word play.

The remainder of the keys, one of them at a chicken coop at Shiroha's place, gets unfortunately shut out by her grandfather. To confront that, Hairi having to coerce Ao to lending her school uniform for Kamome to wear just to get entrance to her place, and it's as good as found, though Shiroha getting irritated by it is just as normal as she comes. With the last of the keys located in a birdhouse, though getting hurt with a bad fall from a tree, Kamome taing care of him and offering her a maid uniform of all outfits, it's more intimate time between the two, though Kamome quickly gives up on trying to bath him lols.

The final treasure, drawn on a map that leads to a pirate ship, Hairi finding it rather peculiar as Kamome wraps up the Summer camp just as when they found it and bade each other farewell on the Summer 10 years apart, it's time to finally unwrap the mystery that has been lingering on for this long.
What will the treasure hunt await them after such a long time?

I wonder who that Taka chan could be lol. Clearly not our mc, Takahara Hairi. That said those keys being there was very unlikely. Like the shrine one for example. Ain't noway they dont clean the shrine. Id understand if it was further inside but not just there. The other places were childish too, I mean they were child so yeah. Anyway pirate ship on the island? Curious. Also Hairi seems to finally remember something. Does he have amnesia? Kamome looked cute in maid outfit.

I don’t really know what to comment on... A girl and a guy looking for keys — and they found them.

But let’s focus a bit on Kushima’s maid outfit... I have no idea why she suddenly decided to wash Takahara’s back!

To be honest, Kushima gave the anime a sense of fun and even a bit of purpose — unlike the first two episodes. Episodes 3 and 4 are better.

Let’s move on to episode 5… though it’s already been spoiled for me! Everyone’s been sharing that scene… Let’s watch it together and comment on episode 5.
I love slice-of-life works.
