There are some of us but I think the sites userbase is primarily from the United States, though there's people from all over as well, for instance there are a few Russian users I'm aware of.

I live in Britain. Anime was extremely hard to get a hold of a while ago and it's only in the last few years that Anime has become more mainstream. Never used to see any anime films in the cinema but now you can.

@AnimePedestrian it's funny cus i've been thinking about cosplaying as Kotomine for a while now. Good there's other people in the country that are anime fans and even better they are: anime fan n Fate fan.

@UberBat I just used kissanime back in the day. That one had like 1000s of shows. No good now thouugh, infested with various nasties. HD view is nothing to me so i'll watch it on whatever site it comes up on even if it's 480p. Story is still the same.

@KutisticKurotica Huge Fate fan, I've also done Fate Cosplay but Astolfo not Kotomine cause I'm a shorty IRL. But year Fate isn't huge in the UK but we do have some cool Fate esc sights. Tintagel and King Arthur's Tomb.

@AnimePedestrian well I did plan on cosplaying Gilgamesh but he's got blonde hair and I don't want to dye my hair. But I figured I could theoretically do Kotomine. I'd just need to find out how to actually make cosplay items.

For me I couldn't live with using the incorrect hair colour because anime chars aren't like people. Hair colour is actually fundamental to their design and not something you can just change in a non strategic way.

@KutisticKurotica I mean you could always like go to a church and ask if the priest as a spare lying round XD. Also wigs are an option, believe it or not my hair is not pink.

@KutisticKurotica what convention you thinking of going too. MCM and SunnyCon I would personally recommend, SunnyCon's sunday evening after party was pretty cool. Hosted as the Alchemist in Newcastle.

@AnimePedestrian well I actually don't know. This is an extremely new idea i've had. I know nothing of cosplay, where to buy it, where to go wearing it. I only ever showed interest in anime through online spaces. I never went to any conventions.

@KutisticKurotica Yeah, so MCM is held at London I went first time last year. It is massive. Ranging from anime, comics and even video games (at least last year). Lots and lots of cosplayers people from Baldurs Gate, Fallout, Fate and Star Wars. Just huge. It must have been the size of at least a football field. It was held at the Excel Centre in London.

SunnyCon is a lot smaller, it not the smallest but is isn't nearly as big as MCM. It's held in Newcastle at the St James Park Football Arena. Of the afterparty I'd say SunnyCon's Alchemist beat MCM fox's venue. But I mean it more what vibe or drinks you prefer. I love a good cocktail over like just bar drinks.

Going down to the south west where I'm based - there's Geek Fest which has relocated since moving from Heartlands, seems to be restarting with a Truro venue.

So your claim of "kissanime was often times the only way you could watch anime." is apparently wrong. Kissanime was one of the worst streaming sites available btw, it got popular because of its big database and easy access. I never liked sites that put their logo on everything they stream tbh.

It's low since they think fictional underage characters being sexualized is somehow CP which despite its not even really enforced since I don't see much cases of people getting arrested solely by possesion of such content in the UK. If it was really enforced, religious books will be banned. But it's ironic coming from a country with high rape assaults saying pixels being sexualized is CP. UK is one of the most authoritarian English and anti-Anime countries along with Australia, NZ and Canada. Only good thing about UK is the 28 days later franchise.

My bf is from UK, what sort of place do you live in? He's out about market towns and uni and I don't think he has much trouble finding anime fans or anime content. Compared to US I think CeX and close encounters have a lot of good varied stuff. And it's super fun coming across old "Manga Entertainment" dvd releases

I'm from Wales. I remember there being Death Note and Naruto fans in my school back in the 00s. One girl I knew was into more weird stuff like Elfen Lied and Boogiepop Phantom. If you move in more nerdy circles it isn't uncommon to meet people who like anime.
