So soon? Noice!!!
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

for once YT beat you guys to it... at least on my end. i subscribe to Kadokawa's YT Channel and YT's app sent me a smartphone notice yesterday about the new trailer. i like the trailer, nearly the whole 2nd half of it is new footage and it looks good! but of course they're gonna pick the best of the best shots for Trailers.

@CrazyButNot4U

considering S3Ep 12 aired on Dec 22, 2023 meh... fast/soon? ehhh... a month/year announcement 1y 4-ish months afterwards??? with a premier in July... if they wait till the 'end' of the 1st month of Summer '25 i'll be crazy surprised... they'll probably want it as early in July as possible... that'll make it 1y 7m... so not exactly a FAST turnaround... 6-9 MONTHS is a fast turnaround, especially for a 'late in the series' entry like a S4. that fast a turnaround means, nobody ever really STOPPED work on the project after the 1st piece was 'in the can'... they just kept going with the 'sequel'.

if you look at Kinema Citrus' filmography since ShieldHero S3 till S4? THREE Cardfight Vangard projects (each one 13 eps) partnered with GIFTanimation and Studio Jemi, the My Happy Marriage S2 (13 eps also and KC was the solo studio) and one episode special disk-only OVA attached to the eighth volume of the MHM LN. basically 40 episodes? if my math's right...

with the announced piece that Kinema Citrus is going to present in StarWarsVisions V3 October 29th 2025 ??? that piece probably won't be all that long and won't be incredibly hard... working with two other studios on the Cardfight Vangard projects isn't easy, but dividing the work up 3 ways has to alter the workload a great deal towards 'lighter' instead of 'heavier'...

so i'd guess, KC wasn't... crazy overworked for the past year... but they definitely have been buzzy lil bees. :D

So, based on your statements, the quality might drop... 😢
But more than that, overworking is bad.. 😢

How far are they from the end of the original LN? I heard that they originally wanted to adapt the whole story like in Mushoku Tensai.

@CrazyButNot4U

i'm not saying a 'drop' in quality... i'm just saying 40 eps in 1-2 years... is a busy schedule for an anime studio. but that all depends on when the 'work' on each of those 40 episodes got started... plus when the work got started on ShieldHero S4... and was finished everywhere... how many staff worked each project, or multiple projects at the same time sharing staff, or perhaps entirely separate teams did the work on Cardfight Vangard and My Happy Marriage and SH4... there are a lot of different workflow structures and production requirements and such... plus i haven't watched a second of CV or MHM so i've no clue how deeply Kinema Citrus was invested in making each of those look gorgeous... \shrug/

for a big example? pretty much everybody said J.C. Staff made in and around the same time period: 'Murai no Koi' look baad... and i watched like the first few MINUTES of the 1st episode and agree with them... whereas 'Delico's Nursery' looked great (not that i watched that one, just what i read) and '2.5-jigen no Ririsa' just looked ok to good and pretty sometimes (which i did watch and agree with those opinions)... then going backwards in time 'Lv2 kara Cheat datta Motoyuusha Kouho no Mattari Isekai Life' looked meh to good (i agree, it was high average at best)... 'Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid 3rd Season' looked awesome as the first 2 seasons and yep, i loved that unique art-style and overall design... and JC taking over from studio C2C for 'Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- Season 2' wasn't a vast improvement. but there were improvements! which i enjoyed! adding in 'Selector Loth WIXOSS' and 'Fairy Tail 100 Year Quest'... i skipped both of those and know NOTHING about them... that was a SERIOUSLY heavy schedule for J.C. Staff! just the number of projects from 'Murai' in Sep-Nov 2024 backwards to 'Tsukimichi S2' in Winter 2024? not counting # of episodes, or length of eps. or any other factor... that is 8 EIGHT projects out for release in the span of a year? maybe even MORE projects if i went further backwards or forwards a smidge in 2024?

compare that to Kinema Citrus' schedule as i mentioned. 40 eps with 3 Cardfight Vangard seasons and My Happy Marriage's 2nd season and SH S4 upcoming ??ep count?? and that is 1-2 years' worth of work??? ehhh? if JC can pull off THAT big of a year? \shrug/ is KC gonna make this next SH 'icky'??? i'd hope not.

we'll definitely have to wait n see...

Have you seen S3? That was far from ass, outside how much they rushed, and they rushed cuz it would otherwise be too dragged out and new double the episodes.

What they are going to adapt here will have more impact and might surprise people.

They should adapt volumes 14-17 I think, and the LN is on hiatus since vol.22:

It has been on hiatus for a while, the writer finished the WN a long time ago, but he is taking his sweet time adapting the next bits, I think he has another series that is keeping him busy (and it is lewd one lol), and the man/woman, never cared to come back to Tate... hopefully S4 will change his mind.

@Playcool So we'll get at least another 1-2 seasons after this?

I wouldn't know, but we have gotten 4 seasons so far, so I think the streaming revenue is pushing for more seasons, but if that will be enough for more, I dunno.

There would be enough material for a 5th season for sure, but the writer has to finish his shit already and stop being lazy about it.

@Playcool I ask because from what I've heard, the later arcs are much weaker in people's opinions, so a full adaptation could potentially face audience pressure over time.

Ever since the premiere for S1 started, back then, I got into the LN and devoured it very quickly then, and I soon realized LN Vol.1 was the best volume.
It never gets as good as volume 1 again, and arguably the first 3 volumes are the ones that keep you more on the edge, so I have been telling people since 2019 that, the plot gets worst with the time.

That said, if you enjoy the characters, you will still enjoy the series, as long as you are not a snob that needs to consume only the best piece of writing possible, as new characters get added the series manages to offer plenty still, and then delivers arcs that have a few scenes with rather good climaxes.

I dunno how people see the LN after the volumes I have read (15 volumes), but I will keep the narrative I said above, having read 15 of them, it is not garbage, by far, I have grown attached to the characters, I still want to see it ending, and I wish the writer keep writing.

A full adaptation is not possible unless the writer finishes the fucking LN, he has finished the WN long time ago, it was finished already when the anime started airing.

IF he comes back to finish, I don't think most people would drop of the series, there would still be interest, as long as people enjoy what they got with S3 and what they will get with S4 (that will have a bigger narrative and consequences).

Outside Atlas, content-wise, S3 was always going to be the most boring season to adapt; everything after that that I have read is more exciting with the implications it brings.

@Playcool So, do you think that we are now just in the stage of seasonal rot because, like in Slime, the adaptation has reached not the best arcs?

I m not caught on Slime, but I think we have seen the most boring arc already being adapted, and if we see S4 having the same care in direction as S3 did, then S4 should be a bigger hit for those that keep watching it... there is actually real emotional value to it, and a fitting climax to it, like we have not seen from the first volume of the LN, don't ask for more, otherwise you asking for spoilers.
After that final arc of S4, I have read spoilers many years ago, there should still be some decent stuff, but also some raging stuff regarding "Bitch", so my guess is as good as yours... again the writer continuing the LN is also another big variable to the equation.

@Playcool I ask, because while most people more or less understand that the anime is adapting an LN, they still kinda perceive it as a typical showrunner-driven Western show, so adaptations of weak arcs are perceived at least intuitively as an overall drop in the quality of the title.
