The first episode was good, but by comparison we learn very few from the second episode: That Lilisa is bad at playing the violin and that she needs to become a seitokaichou.
The third episode, while of the quality of the first one (And with me loving the scene where Lilisa "leaks her powerlevel"), only the parts about them deciding rules for their band is new.

If you come to think of it, this could've been made right after the first music jam instead of two episodes (And a second music jam) later.
Granted, I do agree that it isn't that simple: Lilisa deciding to go back to rock wouldn't have hit as hard if we didn't have two episodes of her hesitating, but I still feel that it could've been better done.

What do you think about it?

It seems you want to remove everything that’s not essential to the progression of the story and basically make an abridged rush-job rather than just enjoy the great range of expressions, wide cast of side characters that are starting to emerge and general whimsicality of the show. Maybe just watch at 1.5x or something? I wouldn’t change a thing!

When it comes to musical shows, I judge by musical inserts first and foremost. Two musical inserts within 3 episodes, your claim that not much is learned between 3 episodes, and can be compressed. I think we can do 2 episodes shortest for two musical inserts. One is definitely too rushed, and one and a half episodes is basically 2 in my book.

Why make a nonsensical thread like this?

I don't understand how people consume any sort of media and view things that aren't solely, 100% dedicated to moving the plot forward as unnecessary. It happens everywhere, and it just makes me question why you're even doing it in the first place. I've heard people say Hidden Inventory from JJK as unnecessary filler, which is just wild.

The pacing is nicely done. If they trimmed it the way you’re suggesting, then it would easily turn into a rushed hunk of junk that feels empty. Let them cook, it’s going well lol

Could? Yes.

Should? No, I hate when a fun anime has its plot ruined by rushjobs, trying to put as much chapters/volumes as possible in a 1 cour. This way we can see the mental state of Lilyssa, and their bonding in far more details.

I assume (and hope) the blue hairdo and the white hairdo members introduction to the band will each gonna take one entire episode each, and same for the angry step-imouto getting the (not really a spoiler, unless you skipped the opennig each time)
.

I have not read the manga, but if Fuji-Rock is not THAT much late in the manga, it can be a good arc finalle, with 2 or 3 episodes. Then, we get 3-4 in before, as the middle ground, training, partying, getting fun and stuff some people call "filler", with the full band formation bonding.

Ben-to! best nonsensical action anime. Ever.

I guess you're right, it could be just two episodes with most cuts being from episode two: Have Lilisa's "power-level leaking" be a result of her first music jam so it flows nicely, and them have the second one... Honestly, yeah, that would've been perfect.

Maybe that's just me being "original anime"-brained, but I do care about those things because you do have a limited (And more-often-than-not short) amount of episodes, therefore you should use them the best way possible.
It doesn't necessarily need to move the plot forward, but it must tell us something we don't already know: I complained that much of episode 2 was just reiterations of things we were told (Though sometimes indirectly) in episode 1.

If you look at some of my latest finished anime, you'll see Haibane Renmei with a 9/10. Haibane Renmei has it's first 4-5 episodes being mostly episodic slice-of-life ones with no plot progression, just we exploring the world and meeting it's characters, but that's never a problem because... well, we're exploring the world and it's characters, and they're all interesting.

In this anime, however, episode two only introduces us to one new character (With a very short scene) while not telling much which wasn't already told about the characters introduced in episode 1. This brings into question "OK, why is it there?".
I care about this type of stuff even when I write threads: I often remove or hide in spoilered text entire paragraphs which I feel are a bit too much fluff.

Not compressing things at the beginning may mean staff runs out of the already fixed number of episodes later in season, potentially leading to a rushed finale!
This happened to a degree with Girls Band Cry, where the angry imouto gremlin vocalist Iseri Nina gobbled up two more episodes than planned near the beginning, so the series could only fit in 13 eps by entirely omitting the bassist's backstory and also making the finale (ep 11-13) feel like an overspeed rollercoaster of rise and fall.
