Fun, but I hope the storyline reaches to the post timeline of after 170 years soon enough
@AayushC novel reader here

When the first episode came out, I estimated that the first cour was going to adapt book 1-4 and the second cour book 5-7, since episode 1 - which adapts book 1 entirely - skipped some content. However, the pacing of ep 2 and ep 3 are slower, and exclusively book 4 (Bakumatsu arc) characters don't appear in neither the op nor the ed, so I think this cour will cover up to book 3 (which is the end of Edo arc). Even though book 4 is pretty long, I'm not sure if it could provide source material for an entire cour. Maybe they will fill out with some anime original scenes. Or maybe because the delays, there won't even be a 2nd cour. But I guess that wouldn't make sense, since book 3 doesn't provide a conclusion for most of the side cast.

So taking the previously mentioned stuff into account, a third cour would adapt book 5-7 (Meiji arc) and a fourth likely book 8-10 (Taishou arc). I have no clue how long book 11 (Shouwa arc) is, but if it's a long one like book 4 and they are really going to give it a complete cour, then I could imagine book 11 getting the same treatment. Book 12-14 (Reiwa arc, the last arc) are the books that take place in the 21st century, but the previous books actually have brief scenes from modern time, acquintancing the reader with the charachters of Miyaka (current Itsukihime seen at the end of ep 1) and Kaoru, who both are pivotal figures in Jinya's high school life.

Overall, this would make the show around 70 episodes if completely adapted. But please take into account that I've only read up to book 7, so I could be a bit off if - for example - the books of the final arc are longer, like book 4.

So this story is gonna be two episodes but not the one revealing more info about our MC lol. For a second I was a little sus of our other demon after he dissapeared at the end thinking he was gonna try something and get stopped in the last few mins, but given that it's just gonna be a two part story at least, I'm not anymore.

Just one question: what is the timeline of how the wife became a demon? Did she become a demon when thrown into the water, and her soul turned into that demon-form while her human body remained separate and deceased? Or did she turn into a demon after her corpse was found? The discrepancy doesn't add up.

You probably mean to be asking this in the episode four discussion thread topic. It hasn't been revealed as of this episode, so would be a spoiler here.

Started off promising in the first few minutes. I thought it was going to be an adult quality story...but by end of first episode...the story developed in a childish and infantile way. It's a bummer. It's not great. The visuals are good but doesn't have that story to go along with.

However, you might enjoy it as the standard anime fan would. But if you're someone who likes a serious quality plot like orb movement of the earth, look elsewhere. This is juvenile storytelling in comparison.

Jinya resting at a soba restaurant alongside Ofuu and the shop owner of her father, though hearing from the latter of a serial killer slasher on the loose, it creates the perfect target for the demon slayer untl it chooses to strike. And strike it did, though Jinya was one step too late to save the slaughtered men, and he need not hide his demonic presence to face it head on. And though Mosuke quickly concedes to him not wanting to strike the demon down, a demon trying to locate a slasher is all sorts of unusual. And the "superior demon" human himself who has the power of invisibility, on top of sharing his intel to Jinya of what he knows about the slasher, who took his wife Hatsu and killed her, he wants to exact revenge on it, and a truce he can only call between himself and Jinya to find the slasher hard and fast to slay it down, leaving the latter for the final blow.

With little information to go by, Jinya and Mosuke can only enjoy their time together drinking booze and conversing about how demons have each ravaged each of their lives, no matter how harsh it may have come. Even towards Ofuu asking about his family, Jinya may have one to begin with, but unfortunately it was a falling out before he and Suzune were the only family together. And the nightfall with Ofuu admiring snow willows that resemble cherry blossoms, it speaks to her about hope for the future, with Jinya sharing the same sentiment as well.

This might be a happy ending for now, but the next will not be pretty...
