First of all, Miku, who could pop out from any kind of screen, was quite terrifying. Imagine you're alone in your room at 2AM, and then you hear a strange song from your smartphone with a hologram of Miku pop out from your phone. lol... πŸ‘»

Finally, the lonely Miku was able to reach her people. They can hear her voice and her song. tbh, I prefer her first design with a black outfit to the white one. Come on, Goodsmile, make Miku Nendoroid with this black outfit, please.

In the end, what this anime wanted to communicate is do not stop chasing your own dream.

Damn, I didn't realise this few people have watched it on here...

It was a decent movie imo and relied a lot on the final performances to deliver, and boy did it do that. Don't expect exposition and all that though, you've to know the game content to catch on and I feel that the idea was great but the mid region sort of extended and could have taken more interesting direction choices but that's obviously never been the first choice, I suppose. Also, a lot more psychological than I thought this'd end up becoming. There were couple of scenes that were genuine jump scares too, xD.

7/10. I'm so glad Hatsune Miku is back in full force too, this was definitely a platform for the very anticipated return.

Went into this movie not knowing anything about ProSekai except the basics. 5 groups. Sekai means other world/dimension. I went to mostly see the side show vocaloids.

I rated it an 8/10. The performances were very good and the after show was great.

It was a fun watch, I only ever played project sekai a bit in the past, but never got fully into it. Not the biggest fan of vocaloid voice type things anymore, altho I was quite into Miku during my high school stage, but even so, I was still able to appreciate the good music, it got my head bobbing, feet tapping, fingers tapping.

Prosekai Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing βœ… 5/5 Didn’t hear any bells, sad. πŸ˜‚ My very first exposure to this franchise and now I’m in love with Miku and all the groups. PA works did some of the best 2D performance animation I’ve ever seen!! We laughed, we cried and we sang along. This was so fun. I see why people are so attached to this franchise. Now I have no choice but to stan Mizuki, Shiho and Saki

Swear to goodness there was a girl in full sailor school uniform and a pink cosplay wig in my theater who started hyper-ventilating whenever her faves came on screen and kept reaching out like she was gonna hug them. 😭 Prosekai stans are different dude I love it. It’s so fun watching stuff like this with people who are into the same stuff as you. I have to play the game now!

Does this somehow expand on the original game's lore and characters? Or is it just a spin-off without any major twists?

One of the most inspirational things I've seen in a hot minute. Had me grinning ear to ear by the end.

@RobertBobert No lore, really. This movie was mostly about vibes - but boy, those vibes were immaculate.

@QueenTheCalm
Currently, it is/was available only at the selected cinemas in some countries.

If you've played the mobile game this is based on, this movie is an absolute blast. Seeing all the characters interact with each other, noticing side character cameos, laughing at Miku easter eggs... I realized sometime during the movie that I had a huge dorky smile on my face and it would just not go away for the entirety of the runtime of the film. Fortunately it's not like anyone was watching me during the movie.

If you haven't played the games, this is still an enjoyable movie... but the plot's not complicated, and the animation isn't groundbreaking. It's not quite a slice of life, it's definitely not shonen, but it's... kind of a mix of these? There are slice of life scenes, but the plot ramps up as the movie goes on. There are dramatic stakes, but not really world-ending ones. And, imo fortunately, there's not even a hint of romance. If that sounds interesting to you, you'd probably like this movie even without having played the app -- especially if you like Hatsune Miku or vocaloid songs already.

Somewhat dauntingly, if you count the SEKAI-specific vocaloids as unique characters, you'll encounter over 50 characters that the movie will not spend much time introducing. That's right -- we've got a HUGE ensemble cast here, and the movie does its best to give everyone a time in the spotlight. You don't, like, NEED to know these characters to follow the plot, but I imagine the movie is a lot more fun if you do.

The only thing you really need to know that isn't explained is how to enter SEKAI. SEKAI are kind of pocket dimensions born from an individual's or group's feelings, that grow and change as they do. When someone first gets access to SEKAI, a song called Untitled will appear on their digital device of choice, and they play that song to enter. So don't be surprised when characters start hopping through portals, it's not random...

The movie ends with an After Show that's just like the ones in the app (somewhat awkward pauses for applause included). This is a super pleasant treat if you play the game, but if you've never played the game before, you can probably leave during the credit roll.

I watched this with my firend in cinemas. It was a blast, I did played the game so I did have a background of the groups and what SEKAI is but my friend didn't. I asked him how was it watching without any knowledge or background and he said he still enjoyed it. It was also good that PA Works animated this. Watching the movie makde me think if I should go back playing the game again.

And the crowd on the cinema where we watched this was a vibe. There was two girls cosplaying Miku and Luka and they seem very excited everytime a character and songs they like and recognized is on the screen or played. And they made the crowd get engage during the aftershow performance at the end.

Also do bring a penlight when you watch this movie in cinemas, Miku and the gang had a small performance at the end of the credits.

Hell, I spare my time in such a busy day to got a ticket in day one and still didn't get the limited merchandises they give in my country. I don't even need the serial code they offered since I don't play the game anymore.

Oh, anyway, here we go, a Miku anime! Finally! I personally find this enjoyable, and it is totally understandable if some people don't feel the same if they come to cinema with zero knowledge about whatever-the-hell is the game about. The music are great, hell, Fire Dance with cinema speaker is totally fire! Animation-wise, it looks fine. Nothing special with the plot, but I like the concepts of trying to help people... uh, or whatever they are doing here, they managed that pretty-well.

Some bad experiences I got from watching it are; 1) some random girl who kept raising her leeks and squeak whenever she likes a scene or her favorite characters appear on-screen, 2) this random guy sits next to me explaining the entire lore of the game to his friends throughout the film.

Conclusion? Just watch it if you are interested, and have fun. Would be better if you understand how SEKAI works and recognize some of the characters.

@chocomayu Thanks for the reply. I haven't played the game but I do follow the lore and characters so I was wondering if this adds anything new to the overall story.

This movie wasn't much tbh.
It felt like nothing was happening, but I'm a fan of Miku and play Project Sekai as well as the Project Divas and had fun seeing all of the characters.
I went with my partner, who doesn't play the games, and to him it felt like one big ad. He fell asleep in the theatre lol.
The animation wasn't anything special and there was a little bit of CG. I don't think the CG looked bad. It was used sparingly.

Overall, I'm a fan of miku/vocaloid, grew up playing the games and still listen to their music today. I liked it and had a good time.

Who's your favourite vocaloid/character?

I like Kaito and Shiho :)
