I'm mainly talking about standalone movies, but you can also mention anime sequel movies if you want.

For me, I guess 2020-21 were the busiest movie years. I watched a bunch of Ghibli movies, Kimi no Na wa., Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai, Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki, Tokyo Godfathers + many more.

Few questions:

1. What was the latest movie you saw? Did you enjoy it?
2. What is the best movie of all time in your opinion?
3. Are you looking forward to any upcoming movies?

Omae Umasou da na was my latest movie. It was surprisingly good. It kinda reminds me of The Land Before Time. That movie and these 5 are currently my favorites:

Bakemono no Ko
Kamiarizuki no Kodomo
Momo e no Tegami
Pop in Q
Tonari no Totoro

About upcoming movies, they are mainly anime sequels: Haikyu!!, Love Live! Nijigasaki, Maid Dragon, Princess Principal: Crown Handler Movies, etc.

1] - Latest movie I saw was Blue Giant two days ago, I enjoyed it for what it was - but I would love to see it as a series, not as a movie.

2] - My favorite anime movie is Tokyo Godfathers [I also love everything Satoshi Kon], Koe no Katachi [standard, but solid choice I cry in the first 10 second of the movie haha], Summer Ghost [I adore everything about it], Kaijuu no Kodomo, Giovanni no Shima, Kizumonogatari trilogy, Mind Game and more. [and I love Makoto Shinkai!!!]

3] - tbh I don't follow upcoming movies that much but Chainsaw Man sequel has my full attention!

I just watched Suzume the other night. Not the best I've ever seen but it was entertaining enough. I will check out a movie if something pops up that seems of interest. I'm partial to Miyazaki-san so I have to say my favorite of all time was Princess Mononoke. But all his stuff is worthy. Satoshi Kon is a big favorite of mine as well. Tokyo Godfathers gets dragged out every Christmas. Even after 20+ viewings I love it more and more each year. But Paprika, Millenium Actress and Perfect Blue are nothing to sneeze at either.

I've barely watched any standalone movie, I just prefer TV series over movies in general. Suzume was the last anime movie I watched but that's mainly because it was on theatres so I was like why not. But I'm planning to focus on anime movies eventually (like next year), the upcoming movies I'm looking forward to are anime sequels such as Eminence in Shadow movie, Demon Slayer Infinite Castle, Girls und Panzer Finale Part 5 and Chainsaw Man Reze

1. last anime movie I saw (besides rewatching Kizumonogatari) was the second SAO Progressive movie. it was okay.
2. my personal favorite anime movie is Dissappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, which is also my second favorite movie period.
3. no.

personally, I don't care much for anime movies. I'm into anime primarily for its long-form narratives which is why most movies I watch are part of a larger series.

I watch a handful a year, mostly standalone movies not linked to an ongoing series.

The problem for me is finding them. Many movies don't come to streaming for some reason. I'm still waiting for the Sound! Euphonium Ensemble Contest movie to show up somewhere...

The last movie I saw was Princess Mononoke 4k restoration in IMAX, just yesterday. A breathtaking experience that meant a lot to me personally.

The last new movie I saw was The First Slam Dunk. Haven't watched the series, but it was still a good movie, some really exciting moments and thoughtful character drama.

A movie I saw recently that hasn't been mentioned yet is Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop. It's pretty, it's simple, it's charming. I really don't see this talked about much, even if it has 140k+ members...

My favorite would be something Ghibli, but please don't make me pick one... Outside of Ghibli, it's probably Paprika, like the filthy casual I am.

The movie I'm most excited for is the Chainsaw Man movie. But I don't really track upcoming anime movies...

I'd say I watch anime movies fairly often, been trying to get through more of the movies on my PTW list as of late. I have 40ish marked as completed at the moment.

Last movie I saw was Akira a few days ago, and I didn't like it all that much. I found the plot to be messy and confusing, and not in the way I like, either. Found it pretty underwhelming given how widely praised the film is. Animation was amazing though, can't deny that.

It's hard to choose, but the best anime film I've seen is probably Ongaku. The atmosphere and animation are really specific and it's got this realness to it that I really enjoyed. Some honorable mentions would be Dead Leaves, Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome, Hadashi no Gen, and Mutafukaz. Kizumonogatari trilogy also deserves a mention, though it's not a singular movie.

In terms of upcoming movies, there's also quite a few I'm looking forward to. Hyakuemu. looks great. Of course I'm looking forward to Virgin Punk, but Killtube and ChaO look really promising, too. I don't particulary like Demon Slayer, but I'll probably check out the new movies when they come out for the lolz.

1. MFKZ, kinda watchable
2. Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction (movie), even though the ONA is the same thing but with more content
3. Chainsaw Man movie and Versailles no Bara (I'm sure it won't be better than the TV series but I'm still curious)

I actually watch anime movies way more than I watch anime shows. My latest one was Belladonna of Sadness, which I really think it's one of the best movies of all time, and not just talking anime movies. But my favorite anime movie is Revolutionary Girl Utena: Adolescence Apocalypse. I'm not even a fan of the original show but I've watched the movie a dozen times and every rewatch I find something new to love about it.

I watch a few movies a year usually whatever looks good to me. Most of the time if movies are related to anime series I watch I am more apt to watch them...unless they are recaps. The last movies I watched were Blue Lock episode Nagi and The new Haikyuu Battle of the Garbage Dump....I really enjoyed them but to me most movies that are add ons to anime series don't really seem like movies to me as they are a lot like the anime series. Not that, that is a bad thing they were just not seem that different as a movie...I guess? I also think the Haikyuu one would have been better as a tv series rather than a movie.

The last anime movie I watched not related to a series was Blue Giant and it was great, I rated it a 9. The music was amazing and it kept me entertained the entire time. That one is also my favorite movie as well as anything Studio Ghibli...of course.

Other movies I am looking forward to...mostly anime series related ones...The Chainsaw Man movie, The new Haikyuu and Demon Slayer movie etc.

As often as I can find an interesting sounding one (like the last I have watched - Kuramerukagari and Kurayukaba).

I've gotten the impression that I watch more anime films than the average anime fan (especially the original stuff that has no ties with a pre-existing series and including the stuff that doesn't get all the fanfare), but maybe that's only the case here on this site and anime fans elsewhere actually have an interest in anime films although I doubt it.

EDIT: I realized I overlooked the additional questions in the original post:

1. What was the latest movie you saw? Did you enjoy it?
It was "The Colors Within." I didn't like it as much as I could've.

2. What is the best movie of all time in your opinion?
That's a hard ask, since there's a lot of great anime movies, but I gotta hold up "Spirited Away" as my answer. There are other movies I may like more, but that one is a classic for a reason.

3. Are you looking forward to any upcoming movies?
In regards to 2025 films: The answer that would be on most people's lists is the CSM movie, but I'm also going to check out the second "Mononoke" movie and "Mumei no Jinsei" sounds interesting. Also will be watching "Cherry and Virgin" whenever that comes out and GKIDS is planning to reshow some Mamoru Hosoda movies in theaters this year, so I might check out a few or all of them depending. (Thankfully, it's all his films that I actually like and not "Belle.")

@perseii You got to see Princess Mononoke remastered for IMAX?!?! I's so jealous. A few years back I got to see a remastered version, but not IMAX, in a theater and it totally blew my mind all over again. It and Bambi still stand at the pinnacle of animated movie masterpieces.

GKIDS released the 4K restoration in the US just last week, and I was lucky enough to catch one of the last showings where I live. Maybe you can still find a screening in your area, if you check right now.

I'm glad you at least caught the remaster in theaters. I've never seen Princess Mononoke in any theater screen before this, and it was absolutely worth it. I'm definitely going to keep a closer eye on anime screenings from now on.
