Whenever I watch romance anime something that bothers me is when all the charcters like the Main charcter I find it so boring especially love triangles they drag out and its obvious who is gonna win. I prefer when the main charcter actually has developement with their love interest and if thier is any other charcters they should have their own person and not bother the main couple.

Also I'm not talking about harmes although most harem anime isn't really harems since the protagonist only chooses one person which is whole other topic.

For the most part, I think love triangles are kind of frustrating, and often boring. It’s almost always obvious which two will end up together, and since the third person has no realistic chance, there’s little to no reason for them to be there besides causing pointless drama and angst. I’m not saying it’s never done well, but the vast majority of the time, it’s not.

Side couples can be a good addition to the story, as long as they don’t distract from or overshadow the main couple too much. I think this season’s Kono Kaisha ni Suki na Hito ga Imasu is a good example of that.

Side couples let the romance anime/manga explore other dynamics and contrast pairs. Love poligon is fun when you want to see who is going to end with who, the focus is on meeting up, flirting. Side couples let you show how a relationship can be. Authors add the best variety of interactions to side couples, like breaking up, betrayal, dumb fights, ideal solved couple.

I'm fine with love triangles, even if the outcome is obvious. I just want good characters and good chemistry.

The first anime that popped up in my mind is Blue Box from this season; all 3 main characters are nice people and all, but there's just nothing to them that's interesting in any way, and the two of them keep their distance for so long. I like to think that I can usually enjoy stock characters as long as they are nice, but I could not warm up to these characters at all.

As for side couples, I definitely would like to see more of them in romance anime.

Seeing the new Bunny Girl Senpai anime announcement reminded me again that there were zero other couples in the show. There were like 6 girls who all had significant relationships with the protagonist, while I think there was one other male character who wasn't even in it that much.

Side couples are always welcomed, but I'm not sure about the love polygon/triangle. However, as long as the trope is done for the sake of subtle & meaningful development for all sides involved, instead of cheap melodrama, then I'm fine with it.

If it's not harem anime by nature love polygon can be a problem. But it won't if it executed well. Most anime don't. Side couples are more preferable than every girl/boy floking to mc but again there are exceptions to prove otherwise. Having more than one pair is good as long as it don't divert away from the main story. In general side couples are done better and more enjoyable in an average romance than love polygon.

Yes, I love couples that steal the spotlight from the main couple... I think.
I like love polygons.

I like all kind of romance anime to be honest: the ones that focus on just one couple and their relationship, the love triangles ones and the ones where it's even more complicated haha.

Side couple, if done right, is really good. I love seeing other couple other than our main ones as well. Love triangle/polygon, on the other hand, I'm indifferent to it, but if I have to pick one I would rather have a normal romance than a triangle. Because I would probably feel bad for the character that got rejected.

I didn't always hate love triangles, but at this point of time I am tired of seeing every characters only interested in the main character. I like love polygons that involves more than 1 couple where you can't tell who will end up with who. Side couples are always welcomed.

Are you living under a rock or what? We are in the Reiwa era courtship that drag is long gone. You didn't get the memo it happened years ago where were you in vacation in the Cayman islands to offshore your millions?

Side couples are generally way better. Love triangles tend to be a cheap way of creating drama.

I love side couples. I love their romance blooming alongside the main couple. Sometimes, the romance of side couples becomes more interesting than the main couple.
I dont hate love triangles as long as the losing girl gets her happy ending with another worthy male character (which eventually makes them a side couple).
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

Side couples add an extra dimension and story telling to an anime. Love Triangles can work but more often then not it just makes me dislike the characters and feels tacked on. It also makes a mockery of friendships. Example being Your Lie in April. The third wheeling was completely unnecessary and tarnished a long standing friendship for me.

If the love triangle gets resolved fairly quickly I don't mind too much, but if it drags on it gets annoying. Side couples are much more enjoyable than triangles, for example the different couple archetypes in Wotakoi.

Side couples can definitely make a romance anime more fun when they outshine the main pair, it feels fresh to watch them in their own romance thing since they aren’t pressured to deliver a complete story, you know what I mean?

Love triangles, on the other hand, bring nothing but chaos turning everything into a messy tangle of drama
