The official website of the new Cat's♥Eye anime series revealed the main cast, staff, two teaser visuals (pictured), and a teaser promo on Tuesday. The new anime adapting Tsukasa Hojo's action comedy manga is scheduled to premiere worldwide on Disney+ in September 2025.

Cast
Hitomi Kisugi: Mikako Komatsu (Edens Zero)
Rui Kisugi: Ami Koshimizu (Ookami to Koushinryou)
Ai Kisugi: Yumiri Hanamori (Jigokuraku)
Toshio Utsumi: Takuya Satou (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken (TV))

Staff
Director: Yoshifumi Sueda (High School DxD Hero)
Script: Hayashi Mori (Hataraku Saibou Black)
Character Design, Chief Animation Director: Yousuke Yabumoto (Yuusha ga Shinda!)
Music: Yuuki Hayashi (Sakamoto Days)
Studio: LIDENFILMS

The action comedy manga ran in Weekly Shounen Jump from 1981 to 1985 and was collected into 18 volumes. Shueisha later republished a ten-volume collector's edition in 1994 and a paperback edition from 1995–1996. Tokuma Shoten reprinted a complete edition in 2005-2006.

Tokyo Movie Shinsha adapted the manga into a 73-episode television anime in Summer 1983. The Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye (Lupin the 3rd vs Cat's Eye) crossover anime premiered exclusively on Amazon's Prime Video in January 2023, commemorating both the 50th anniversary of Lupin III and 40th anniversary of Cat's Eye anime series.

Monthly Comic Zenon ran a remake manga written by Sakura Nakameguro from October 2010 to January 2014, featuring illustrations by Shingo Asai. Coamix released the manga in eight volumes. The publisher also releases Hojo's original manga in English on the Manga Hot service.

So wait, wait. Is this version going to be CGI or not?

I like the visuals, even if the animation looks a little stiff (maybe they're doing it on purpose for the nostalgia..?). Also liking the voice cast.

Haven't seen the original or 80s anime in general, but I always liked the aesthetic of the period.

The trailer doesn't look like 3D CG to me at all... Can CG look like this??

@perseii I don't know, when I first saw the announcement of the anime on Twitter, for some reason many people criticized it, calling the show CGI.

@RobertBobert It turns out the initial teaser PV was 3D CG:

And the previous entry of the series was a 3D CG movie: Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye (2023).

So people naturally assumed that this next project was also CG.

I would guess what actually happened was they quickly slapped together a fancy video for the announcement, possibly using assets from the movie.

Might've been a little careless with the marketing, but it probably won't matter much in the end...

@perseii I really enjoyed the latest City Hunter anime movie, which combined quality animation with a simulated 80s anime aesthetic. I would love to see something similar, especially since I missed the old show. But Lindenfilms usually makes moderate anime.

So the Cat's Eye (2025) remake will be in 2D? Thank God! Lidenfilms handling yet another remake.

Unfortunately, this series seems to be episodic and very repetitive. Literally just the same thing happens every episode. City Hunter is no different. Just the same thing every episode.

Well i'm disappointed it's not in 3DCG, it uses the same animation technique and artstyle as angel heart and the later city hunter films.
