The official website of the Yofukashi no Uta Season 2 (Call of the Night Season 2) unveiled new cast, staff, a key visual (pictured), and a teaser promo on Friday. The anime series adapting Kotoyama's supernatural romance manga will air on Fridays at 11:00 p.m. on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block beginning in July 2025.

Voice actress Rina Satou (Toaru Kagaku no Railgun, Persona 5 the Animation) is joining the cast as Kiku Hoshimi.

Staff
Assistant Director: Izumi Takizawa (3-gatsu no Lion color design), Nao Miyoshi (Vanitas no Karte Part 2)
Art Director: Ken Naitou (Slime Taoshite 300-nen, Shiranai Uchi ni Level Max ni Nattemashita)
Color Design: Asami Kitsukawa (Kotarou wa Hitorigurashi)
Color Design Assistance: Akira Hashigami (Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru. color design)

Tomoyuki Itamura (Owarimonogatari) is returning to direct the second season at LIDENFILMS. Returning lead staff include scriptwriter Michiko Yokote (Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi), character designer Haruka Sagawa (Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 3rd Season), and music composer Yoshiaki Dewa (Jigokuraku).

The first season aired in 13 episodes on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block in Summer 2022. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime and simulcast it on HIDIVE and later streamed an English dub.

Kotoyama began the manga in Weekly Shounen Sunday in August 2019—a year and four months after concluding Dagashi Kashi in the same magazine—and ended it in January 2024. Shogakukan published the 20th and final volume in March that year. Yofukashi no Uta has a cumulative 5.3 million copies of its volumes in circulation, including digital editions.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in July 2020 and released the 19th volume on March 11. The 20th volume is scheduled for a June 10 release.

It took longer than I thought. Odd, considering that as far as I remember the original manga is already over. Or is it?

I found myself really missing the mood and the character designs of Season 1, even if I didn't love the show as much as I would've liked to. Will check this out again.

It's really fitting this series is airing in Summer again. It just feels like a hot summer night kind of anime to me.
