This thought just came to me, OPM Season 3 is adopting the "Bait & Switch" marketing. Here's why I think so....

1. Change in style between 1st and 2nd PV
People might remember the 1st PV had some detailed art, and the colors were dark and gritty... But in the 2nd PV, the art style looks different. It has less detailed finishing and the color schemes are also different. This is strange, given both the pre-animated PVs are supervised by the same guy, Kazunori Ozawa and team.... And when somebody asked this in X, they gave a strange nod (I'm assuming).

2. The Director and the main staff list is still not revealed

I don't have to emphasize why this is a big deal. The show is supposedly airing after 7 months. At this point, most projects, especially top profile projects, will reveal the main team list at least at this point. But we have got nothing here. So they are keeping it hidden for some serious reason.

3. Producer claiming they are working hard to not betray

Now, I don't have the actual comment/tweet/article where these statements were made, but this is what a few people have been talking online about how a producer commented "We are aware of how important this project is for the fans and we are trying our best to not betray them" or something on those lines (correct me if I'm wrong). This statement doesn't sit well with the fact that they are keeping the production process highly confidential. At the same time, this makes me think they are actually brewing something good with some big talents, that naming them now would cause a huge chaos.(this is my opinion)

So to conclude: by keeping people unaware of what's actually happening, the producers are baiting the audience to believe this is just another failure, but once the episodes are out, they might actually be better than season 2. Now I am not saying this in a way to give people false hopes. I am just trying to view it in a rather optimistic view, by giving the team, benefit of the doubt until the final PV/first few episodes drop, before concluding the production is a disaster. I too would be upset if this season is just another mess.

Anyways, let me know on you guys' thoughts. Also, lets try to keep the discussion as civil as possible. Here's expecting the best out of this with fingers crossed.

I respect your optimism and I will not try to change your opinion but if you ask me , this sentence is the biggest red flag when it comes to anime, games ,movies because this is the most PR, trust me bro sentence you will hear about a production . Also if you think about the fact that J.C.Staff animates 50 anime (exaggerating but I hope you get my point) every year they simply don't have enough manpower and also the talent to match the quality of S1 or even surpass it. Personally I have the feeling that they know the director of S3 will disappoint people and I believe that because if they were confident, they would already announced him to hype the fans/customers that were disappointed by the terrible result of S2 caused by the director's decisions.

There is no matching the manga art no matter who is animating it. It will still probably be enjoyable regardless like with Sakamoto days adaptation.
The longer an anime is, the lower the budget goes to each following season generally. Most anime never see complete adaptations regardless. I doubt even mushoku will afford a full high quality adaptation. Finance in the anime industry can be rough news.

All the same complaints here before season 2 and it was still really good. Itll be good but the arc is 100 chapters. Thats the bigger issue.

First season was just a miracle production, the project is not in good hands anymore and it's clear the staff are now trying their best with this season or I want to believe that.

Obviously this will be another disappointment for the OPM fans, things hasn't changed and that can be seen just watching the trailer.

If this was true, One Piece wouldn't continuously increase the quality of the animation with each arc to the point that they did a six month hiatus that is still ongoing to improve the animation and of course we also have the remake by WIT studio. And One Piece is the longest running and biggest anime currently

How many examples you want to understand that this phrase has lost it's meaning. If a production is low quality or problematic the result will be crap too. A recent proof of this is Uzumaki anime

One Piece being an exception proves the rule. Long running anime format is dead. Even One Piece is in recap mode now.

I thought we were talking about animation quality and budget drop. What recap mode? You mean this ? . This is a remaster to cover the hiatus. And as I said the hiatus happens only to improve animation quality, not lack of budget.

How do you define long running format? You mean anime that has many seasons or you think long running must be airing for 20+ years like One Piece.? Danmachi has many seasons, Fairy Tail has many episodes and now the new arc, Detective conan is a beast like One piece and the list goes on.

In conclusion the long running format is not dead. It's just that studios forcibly killed long running format for many series because studios animate too much stuff nowadays and they can't focus their budget on one or two specific manga series to be able to produce many episodes/seasons unless they are super popular which is why we mostly get split seasons nowadays and not 25 episode anime for each season.
