 The official website for the Anne Shirley television anime series revealed the main cast and staff on Thursday. The anime is scheduled to broadcast for 24 episodes starting in April 2025 on E-NHK. Cast Anne Shirley: Honoka Inoue (RPG Fudousan) Marilla Cuthbert: Aya Nakamura (Jujutsu Kaisen) Matthew Cuthbert: Yasunori Matsumoto (SK∞) Gilbert Blythe: Naoya Miyase (Yumemiru Danshi wa Genjitsushugisha) Diana Barry: Yume Miyamoto (SSSS.Gridman) Hiroshi Kawamata (Otona Joshi no Anime Time) is directing the anime at The Answer Studio. Kenichi Tsuchiya (Kotonoha no Niwa) is designing the characters. The anime adapts Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables novel which was first published by L.C. Page & Co. in 1908. Over the years, it was released in 36 languages and sold more than 50 million copies. A 50-episode television anime by Nippon Animation aired in 1979, followed by a 39-episode prequel in 2009.
