Go here, uncheck "not in my list" and look around. Certified Gore Blood-C When it comes to gore, this one, for some reason, is the one I remember the best. Even though I liked Blood+, I thought Blood-C was pretty terrible overall, but a lot of the gory scenes from it are still fresh in my mind even though it's been 9 years since I've watched it. Elfen Lied & Gantz Yep, a lot of gore here. I don't remember them quite well, however. Made in Abyss Pretty disturbing overall. Questionable Shingeki no Kyojin Main points: story, action. Tokyo Ghoul Don't remember it quite well, but I don't think it was too gory? The only relatable scene I can recall is that one with centipede in it. Akame ga Kill! Main points: action, cute girls. Mirai Nikki Main points: story. Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu This one had gore, but nothing too disturbing. Another Hmm? Chainsaw Man Pretty mild gore from what I remember. Vinland Saga Same as above. Highschool of the Dead Main points: action, cute girls. Goblin Slayer Main points: cool story, action, cute girls. Jujutsu Kaisen, Mugen no Juunin: Immortal and Juubee Ninpuuchou Meh. Hellsing Ultimate I watched this in 2011 and the way I remember it it was fairly "cartoonish" - not disturbing at all. Same with the first entry of Hellsing which I watched in 2008 and Drifters. Btooom! Interesting anime, but nothing disturbing about it. Koutetsujou no Kabaneri Attack on Titan with worse plot but with better characters. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Can't evaluate because I experienced it through VN for the first time, anime wasn't as good in comparison. Jigokuraku, Cross Ange, Killing Bites and Shiki Amazing anime, but nothing disturbing about them. Kenpuu Denki Berserk Pretty normal stuff here. Claymore Evokes similar feeling to Hellsing. Inuyashiki Meh. Like playing a shooter game. Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi It was mostly sexy rather than anything else. Zom 100: Zombie ni Naru made ni Shitai 100 no Koto, Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka and Majo to Yajuu While interesting overall, nothing disturbing here. Basilisk Didn't like it so much I had to force myself to finish it, but wasn't disturbed. Peach Boy Riverside The most peculiar thing about this anime is that the main guy was hotter than the main girl. Bastard!! Ankoku no Hakaishin Liked this because the protagonist was cool, but nothing really disturbing. Not sure/Can't remember Deadman Wonderland, Seikon no Qwaser, Devil May Cry, Mahou Shoujo Site, Ga-Rei: Zero, Hametsu no Oukoku, Gungrave, Kurozuka. Dropped anime Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan |

Man, I have so many to choose from. So, so many... Dark Gathering's literally the only one I've ever watched, and it wasn't even that bad from the half-cour I've watched so-far. And I should know, since I'm a squeamish 'lil bitch. |

As a guy whom has seen Hard Gore stuff in NSFW Hard sites which contains IRL gore, I don't think an anime can actually make me feel disturbing after seeing all the stuff I have seen already x). |
From monday 13th janurary 22:30 of Polish time zone, up to another monday 20th of january I will be unable to reply, interact in forums as I am in that time in France, so I will be only using my list to update episodes and nothing else. |

Made in Abyss, but it being disturbing had nothing to do with the gore. Rather, it was any scene with a particular focus on defecation/faeces (which the series had quite a few of) that nauseated me to some extent. The series doesn't spare any detail in its depiction of metabolic processes. For as unpleasant as these scenes were to watch in the moment, however, I have to admit that they're morbidly immersive and realistic; these basal moments where you're reminded of the organic limitations of the cast demonstrate that the Abyss is as unforgiving as it is fascinatingly exotic. I do remember Terra Formars having a scene where some army veteran guy gets his head and upper jaw ripped off and then put front-and-centre of one of the manga panels though, which was even more visceral than I was expecting, despite the precedent the manga set. |

My man says Gore anime and doesn't mention Berserk... That should be a crime. I have watched that, and a few other of them like ATTACK ON TITAN (thought it was annoying and too edgy) and have an old dvd of Basilisk. Hated it, didn't even finish what episodes were on the disc. There's plenty of disturbing stuff in samurai anime, to me at least. Dororro had some in the beginning, and the whole concept of being born without skin is pretty icky and f'd up. Speaking of skins..... you knew this was coming.... Golden Kamuy has an abundance of peeling to the extent I found truly distasteful. Not disturbing necessarily, but it should have been. There is some disturbing stuff in a lot of anime that aren't gore. Like Psycho Pass. I recall watching an episode of a tragic murder of some little girl her abusive parents buried her in a wall... that was awful and hurtful and I stopped watching whatever that was soon after. |

I guess it would be the Corpse Party OVAs for me, though I don't watch much in the way of ultra gory anime to begin with and I ultimately didn't find Tortured Souls to be all the disturbing outside of maybe one or two scenes. |

If we're talking about "disturbing" and "gore ANIME" in specific, the ones that comes to my mind is the "arm-breaking" scene from Made in Abyss, which was made to make you feel uncomfortable. Other than that, nothing really comes to mind here. Unless you count A Kite, which had photos of REAL LIFE GORE in it. |

Another had plenty of gore, but was so over the top by the end, it didn't bother me at all. Gantz was the worst offender for me, but then I have never seen Elfen Lied so I cannot speak for that show. Angels of Death had some of Zach's flashbacks being pretty horrific but most of those people deserved their fate, so.. |

Blood-C made me genuinely uncomfortable in a way very few anime have. Maybe it is because I have a visceral fear of blenders. Like that makes me deeply uncomfortable. A girl was also torn in half by her legs, and it felt very...sadistic? I am going to add Shigurui: Death Frenzy here as well, though I think violence is the point of the series. |

I completely agree with what you said about blood c. It wasn't that good, but the ending is still something that makes me very uncomfortable and disgusted when I remember, even tho it's been around 6 years I watched it... |

I've only seen a handful of anime I'd consider gory. Not really being big on gore to begin with, I still got past that pretty quickly with most of them. To be clear, I've always been ok with really cartoony gore. It's the more intense realistic gore I'm not into. And anime gore can tend to be more realistic than something like South Park for example. Even then, I've only seen one anime that took more adjusting to than usual. That anime was Elfen Lied. I've been grossed out by Made in Abyss multiple times. I was initially kinda disturbed by the way people exploded in Psycho Pass. Various other scenes have caught me off guard. But for whatever reason, that first few minutes of Elfen Lied was the first time i questioned if I wanted to continue a series. I realize Elfen Lied and everything else I've seen is probably really tame compared to some the more fucked up older stuff though. |

I find violence in general disturbing and prefer stories with less violence (or mecha) but the Miki scene in the last volume of devilman was terrifying, it wasn't overly graphic funnily considering the story but it was the most terrifying scene in the story |

Far as what would disturb me comes down to how the storytelling is executed and how the outcomes with the gory bits hit. Anything that's just there to shock, look edgy, or be over-the-top won't hit as hard for me, some examples of this for me being Mirai Nikki, Elfen Lied, Hellsing Ultimate, and High School of the Dead. But set the right mood and storytelling impact, gore can genuinely disturb me. Far as titles that effectively pull this off that I've seen... Parasyte: The Maxim Vinland Saga (both seasons) Made in Abyss Devilman Crybaby Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Berserk Happy Sugar Life Dark Gathering Blade of the Immortal Requiem from the Darkness Call Me Tonight |

I'm usually very easily affected by things like horror and gore :) it's like when I told my friend that I thought Doom 1 & 2 games were quite scary, he was very surprised and told me "What? What's so scary about those games?!" lol But I can outright say that "the most disturbing title" goes to...drumroll...Shigurui! That one was a bit too much for gentle little me lol I barely got through it, but it was certainly interesting to be so strongly disturbed by gore and extreme violence, even by my standards. From my perspective, it did a very good job at being shocking and unnerving :) As for things tagged as "Gore" in my list: Definitely disturbed me with its gore elements to some extent: Shigurui (already mentioned, the winner lol very gory and disturbing) Shingeki no Kyojin (its gore scared me quite a bit at the beginning, but I got somewhat used to it in the following seasons) Tokyo Ghoul (its gore elements combined with drama and overall violence certainly managed to leave an impression on me) Elfen Lied (this one certainly did a good job at being disturbing with its gore and violence >_< still don't like it, though) Devilman: Crybaby (the art style and drama made the effects of gore more impactful) Berserk original TV series & movies (aside from the episodes closer to the end, there was enough of violent gory scenes to leave a lasting impact) Claymore (I found a lot of gore in this series to be pretty disturbing, but then again, it's me we're talking about lol) Shiki (certainly would've had more impact on me without those silly "dark comedy" inserts, but its gore elements were still pretty disturbing as it is) Gantz (both seasons had scenes that I thought were quite disturbing and gory) Juubee Ninpuuchou + TV series (the gore was definitely disturbing and often disgusting) Kemonozume (I don't know if Masaaki Yuasa's style made the gory scenes more or less disturbing, but they certainly had its effect) Psycho-Pass (MAL only qualifies S3 as gore, for some reason, but Psycho-Pass definitely had enough gory scenes throughout the series) The gore was more entertaining than scary/disturbing: Hellsing Ultimate + TV series (well, the gore was supposed to be entertaining, so I guess it accomplished its purpose lol if only it had a different protagonist so that I could've actually properly enjoyed watching the damn thing) There wasn't enough gore there, or it didn't affect me enough: Akira (well, I guess the scene at the end is the main "attraction", but I can't remember any other gore) Gungrave (not that much gore and I didn't find it too disturbing) Togainu no Chi (fuck this shitty adaptation for ruining the VN, and that's the only thing I was disturbed by lol now, the VN itself actually had tons of disturbing gore) Cossette no Shouzou (was there gore there? O_o I don't remember...I guess I was too busy appreciating its visual experimentations) And since I'm a "certified pussy" when it comes to scenes like that, a lot of the non-gore anime also had an effect on me with its gore-ish or violent scenes, like Hadashi no Gen movie scenes: those were chilling and could easily be qualified as "gore"! LoveYourSmile said: My sense of cruelty's kinda dulled Sometimes I wish mine was too, but then I remember how much cruel and disturbing scenes can positively attribute to the overall impact, and then I'm not so sure anymore :) it'd be nice to have a switch: being able to keep it at full for media while also being able to manually turn it down for other situations in life :p |

Berserk, Made in Abyss, Boogiepop Phantom come to mind along with all your 80s and 90s OVAs. If I had to pick one though I would say Now and Then, Here and There. It doesn't have the gore, but just some of the stuff it shows is so serious that it almost makes Made in Abyss seem only optically dark. |

@thewiru That scene was not meant to make uncomfortable, it was a dramatic moment. Reg's breakdown and sobbing made that scene into one of the most dramatic I had ever seen in any anime. It ranks up there with the plane crash scene with Kiritsugu in Fate/Zero. I was just transfixed at how brilliantly done it was. The crying part came at the beginning of the next episode when is revealed Nanachi watching them. Kevin Perkin's music elevated the whole anime above even its visuals. |

@LoveYourSmile I'm trying to do my best with it :p Yeah, I just haven't gotten to Made in Abyss yet :) I'm currently going through the old stuff at a relatively slow pace and replaying games especially takes many months, but I'll definitely watch it when I get back to watching new things. Oh, a bunch of stuff! I made a quick list from your completed, on-hold and dropped, but maybe I missed a few things :) 3-gatsu no Lion 86 Aho Girl Aku no Hana (I was asked to read the manga first, though) Baccano! Chainsaw Man Chihayafuru Clannad (but I’ll play the VN first since I try to never watch VN adaptations, whether they’re bad or good) Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Goblin Slayer Hibike! Euphonium Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (again, only after VN) Houseki no Kuni Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku Jigoku Shoujo Jin-Rou K-On! Kaguya-hime no Monogatari Kaifuku Jutsushi no Yarinaoshi Kaze to Ki no Uta (after reading the manga) Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! Kotonoha no Niwa Made in Abyss Mushoku Tensei Nana Natsume Yuujinchou NHK ni Youkoso! Oniisama e... Ookami to Koushinryou Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom (only after playing the VN) Pluto Princess Tutu Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou Sonny Boy Sousou no Frieren Spy x Family Steins;Gate (only after VN, even if the adaptation is good) Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Trigun Versailles no Bara Violet Evergarden Yakusoku no Neverland And a lot of stuff from your PTW list lol I don't add things to my PTW because it makes me anxious and uncomfortable :) I prefer to go with the flow and watch what comes to my mind at a particular moment, so it might end being something I didn't even plan on watching to begin with. |
