It was dogsh*t in the final episode also when Rin was soloing it. Who the fuck plays with tongue out. Also rin dodging all 4 defenders? What the fuck. Also the order being left back followed by right back followed by center backs... Just what was the author high on??

There is no actual football, it's just a parody of the game we all love, from episode 1. It'd take way too much time and effort to list all the ridiculous inconsistencies and errors it presents, and this excludes the plays that are physically impossible, which are... well, half of it. So ye, I can't even call it football.

@Lionel13927 many of the "impossible" stuff in blue lock have been referenced from real life (just like the zone and such in kuroko no basket), the overall play is pretty normal for intense high league or world cup situations, its just the slow motion and overanalysis (with the puzzles etc) that presents it as exaggerated, but the core of the movements and overall match is pretty sensible

And to the other person about the tongue, like regular shounen, each character here is unique with their own style and "powers", depending on the situation too they unlock other things, but this is not a battle shounen, rather sports shounen, so it has different ways to show that stuff, and also if someone is tired or feeling too hot during an intense play they might have tongue out like that depending on the person, it does happen even without noticing

If you want to watch actual sports then try turning on ESPN instead of complaining about it in anime. This show is about the story of the characters and the plot, not as much soccer, as most sports anime focus on the characters more than the actual sport. I thought this season was great and loved the story

Dodging 4 defenders is a very big deal but not impossible, rin holding tongue out is also something a few athletes have done in real life. In the end, just enjoy the hype instead of comparing it to real football bro. It's not that serious.

@sukisan1 although I agree but I have to say that the best of the best sports anime also focus on the actual sport. Like haikyuu, hajime no ippo.

@Elfezen "The Zone" is not a Kuroko no Basket term. It's a well-known sports term used to describe a short state of great focus in which people perform at their utmost best. There is a lot of scientific research on it and is not even limited to sports. However... basing something on a real-life example doesn't make it actually achievable. For example, take Zlatan Ibrahimovic's bicycle kick which was most likely the inspiration for Shidou's goal. If you look at the point of contact of both goals, you'd notice how the anime goal is much higher, but the trajectory is actually much lower. Also, consider that Ibrahimovic's goal traveled at least 20% more distance, as the anime goal took place just outside of the box. All of those factors make the goal impossible in real life - it's just how physics work.

is a statement which, when speaking about Blue Lock, is incredibly detached from the truth. I don't know how much football you've watched, but if you are watching it regularly, you'd notice dribbling past defenders, especially with highly complex moves as those shown in Blue Lock, is not something that happens at high-level modern football. High-level modern football is based on percentage plays, effective passing, ball control that result in "suppressed" individuality (which is actually the main idea of Blue Lock, presenting something that's the complete opposite of conventional modern football). Attempt two or three times the tricks they do - bang, you're a benchwarmer now.

If anything, such plays would be more likely to occur in a Sunday League, and not U-20 national level - which is pretty high (I recommend the U-20 World Cup, it's always a fun watch, never skipped it since 2009). And they don't occur 20 times per match, which is exactly what happens in this anime. And they most certainly fail most of the times they attempted, while in Blue Lock, a dribble's success rate is almost 100% - actually, it's higher than the pass accuracy, which has probably virtually never happened in any professional game in the history of football. Damn, and now you caught me giving examples when I said I wouldn't.

tl;dr - watch more football, mate. And I get that you like the anime, which is perfectly cool. It's just not football, it's exactly as you said - a regular battle shounen with super-powers.

Bro you gotta let of reality when watching anime.I think if you want irl football please watch irl matches. It’s an anime and it has its own things. If you feel like this then i don’t think anime is for you.You can watch all the shitty irl shows in Netflix. He plays with his tongue out because it’s called extreme focus ,some players actually do it sometimes when they are locked in. It’s like that in that anime because it’s fictional characters and story.if you want irl football please watch irl.If you want something not fantasy or anime like things please watch irl shows .There are plenty of shit like that in Netflix and other streaming platforms.

Blue Lock was intended to be a battle shōnen series from the beginning. Actual football? Nah, not at all.

sorry to break it down for you, but i think gathering 300 high school students (without earlier notice) to find the best one of them isn't real too.

wait, people still complain about the realism aspect of blue lock in 2024? living under a rock. op has also never seen anyone dodge 4 defenders lol, you could just watch almost any messi highlight ever, or even lower division stuff like the u20s are.

Yes, that little tongue sticking out looks ridiculous. And that colorful smoke coming out of them is also a trash. Ao Ashi is an example that doesn't need these gimmicks to be cool.

Felt this the whole time the actual tactics and playing style are so bad like actually horrendous. No one fcking plays and acts like this it just makes it incredibly unbelievable and detached from the sport.
