both of Rumiko's works look very strange compared to their 80s counterparts, especially the colors. Are they on their B-team with this? CSM and JJK look pretty beautiful compared to the new Ranma. I thought Nazo no Kanojo X and Megalo Box had proved it is possible to do retro with digital.

Well, they look good to me. Anyway, that's only my opinion.

Ranma 1/2 remake looks fine to me, your complaints must be on a high level.

some folks just can't appreciate the artistry of MAPPA or classic anime remakes. It’s like turning up your nose at a gourmet dish because it's got an unconventional garnish.
Sure, MAPPA has its style, and yes, some remakes take liberties that can be hit or miss, but isn't that part of the fun? The anime world thrives on variations and experimentation.

Which is the other apart of Ranma 1/2?

The remake of Urusei Yatsura was by studio David and it was quite good in my opinion.
Was something else from her already remade or maybe it's still in production?

I only finished the original Ranma a year ago so it's pretty fresh in my mind, and imho, the remake looks good, lots of style changes and nods to the artwork from the manga, it's still got that Chinese martial arts feel to it that the original had. Only thing it's missing is the 80's OP and ED's.

UY wasn't by MAPPA, and the animation style is great

Why are you comparing CSM and JJK with ranma ๐Ÿ˜‚ That's like comparing atomic bomb with coughing babies

It does not matter if the remake is not successful because it has low production costs and I am casually dropping this here -> Link

MAPPA made the Dororo remake. The art is unfaithful to the original but I wouldn't say it's weird.
MAPPA also remade Ushio & Tora, a series I am less familiar with.

I love how Megalo Box looks, but I like Ranma 1/2 remake too, especially the colors.

It's just.. different. It's unfortunate you find it "strange," but I think it looks beautiful and suits the wackiness and nostalgic feeling (I haven't watched the original Ranma, though).

Also, art style aside, the remake feels very high-quality to me. The color scheme itself looks very carefully maintained, and it's got tons of expressive animation and little details. The action sequences are exciting and creatively choreographed.

Of course, it doesn't have Jujutsu Kaisen-level sakuga fights, but it's not that kind of show, is it? I'm actually glad (and impressed) that this feels nothing like Jujutsu Kaisen or Chainsaw Man at all.

In my opinion, the Ranma remake is pretty good and I would say even better than the first adaptation, and the Ushio to Tora and Dororo remakes are pretty good too, I don't know what the problem is.

the only good thing the new anime has over the old is the HD crispness and bright color palette, otherwise it's a pretty sound downgrade

What is this question, bruh? MAPPA has only made one anime remake. Why are you asking like it's a trend? Also the new character designs are really close to the original. Just less round.
