| 1.)Do you watch it because it's fun? It depends on the type of anime we're talking about here. Some are epic fun while others are boring. 2.)Do you watch it because it's your only source of entertainment? I had other sources like TV, drawing, video games, etc. But the thing is I've grown tired of my PS2 console, and there's rarely anything good/interesting to watch on TV anymore. Now the only things that can cure me of my boredom are Anime and Visual Novels. 3.)Do you watch it as a hobby? Naturally, yes. |

| Eh, it's not my primary hobby, that's music. But it is an increasing hobby for me at the moment. I like it because there's a lot more to it than Western cartoons in general. Nothing against them, but it's probably best described as another "flavor" of televised entertainment that just happens to be what appeals to me the most. Western cartoons are just different, and don't have the same appeal to me that Anime has; they're almost all sitcoms or comedies (and it's hard to really tell the difference between those two anyways). Western reality shows tend to be different but still, I end up preferring the more artistic approach with anime. So... it really just goes down to tastes and preferences, everyone has their own, and it just happens to be mine. |

| The fact that anime is animation doesn't bother me, I just enjoy watching something good in my leisure time and I know I can rely on anime, as there is something for everyone; its an artform that incorporates all demegraphic groups. Yet if I stick to the subject of animation, Western series's have little range, they're either; obnoxious hyperactive hypnosis for children or something trying to hard to be offensive, aimed at adults (even though I find some of this daft stuff mentioned amusing from time to time), it's rear something intelligent comes along. |

To be quite honest I am not fully sure why I watch anime seeing as it comes from a culture completely different from mines and I usually watch it in Japanese! Part of it is due to the artwork. I have always loved good art and the ability to create different characters in one's head and put it on paper that it almost looks realistic is amazing to me. I love the creativity of anime, it is much different than American animation although Disney is credited for anime's start. The Japanese took animation to another level if you ask me. |

| I watch it to pass the time. Also, it forces me to get out of reality for a while, which I really need. Another reason, is I think Anime characters are far superior to real-life actors in terms of acting. And... another thing I'd like to add, in my opinion Anime plots are actually more attractive than any Movie or TV Show. |

| I'm long past the "best thing since sliced bread" phase, and finding time to see anything is harder, but I still watch it as it's a nearly inexhaustible form of entertainment, especially when compared to live action television. To put that in perspective, I watch anime religiously compared to anything else. |

| Hmm, Firstly: Only a few american T.V. shows even come close to it, but still not comparable. Secondly, it's anime...Must I say much more? If so, it's pretty much one of the best forms of entertainment with MMORPGs right behind it. (Not counting WoW, FlyFF, 9Dragons, etc..) |

| It's my life and inspiration! The major reason I got into anime is the art. As an art student, I've been drawing my entire life until I got into Sailor Moon. It really changed my life and it broaden my interest in art. Plus, I'm really into animation so it's the only one I can find that is still hand-drawn while in the US, too many CGI animated movies and TV shows! |

| For me, the reason is more oriented around emotion and soul rather than just entertainment. You see, I'm very lonely and suck at talking to people, almost to the point of anti-socialism. Sure, I have a few friends, but they aren't very close. I DO, however, have a best friend who I tell (almost) everything, and he understands me in some cases. However, he is not anti-social or even close to it. He is rather popular at school, and can easily talk to anyone. Anime gives me a chance to get away from my pathetic (from a no-lifers' point of view) life, just like books do. I extremely enjoy watching romance animes, for it gives me a chance to dream that I will one day find a soul mate who understands me and loves me very much, just like in the animes that I watch. Pathetic? Probably. Desperate? Yes. The truth? Every word. |
| Cause this roams America. I know there are good shows and I love those shows like Scrubs, The Walking Dead, South Park, Futurama, and Jackass whenever it airs. But that roams here and the fact that anime tell great stories. |

| I use it as an escape. Honestly, I didn't really know what anime was until almost 1.5 years ago, even though I'd seen Pokemon, Sailor Moon, and Kiki's Delivery Service. I saw those as a young child, and they were my favourite movies and shows. When I was (re)introduced to anime a decade later, I remembered having watched those, and I felt nostalgic. Those had been the best years of my life, so watching anime that reminds me of those shows brings some of that joy into these not-so-great years. I watch anime because it's something I truly enjoy, basically. ^_^ |
| Escapism is the only correct answer. Real life sucks. Anime doesn't. I don't have to think about that term paper that I'm not writing or those "friends" that I'm blowing off or how I'm going to college next year when I don't even know where I'm going to go or how I don't have a job. So many things to escape, so little forms of escapism. Why would I think about bad things when I can watch Pokemon and think about when I was nine and the only thing that I worried about was waking up early enough to watch Pokemon before leaving for school? It might not be the most healthy thing, but it makes me feel better. LEGOF said: I like completing things and when I look back at all my completed anime I feel a sense of accomplishment. Also, this. I like to look back and see how much time, money, and effort I've dedicated into something that I enjoy. Mostly because I don't enjoy that many things. |
