Bandai Namco Filmworks opened an official website for a television anime and live-action movie adaptation of Jun Mayuzuki's Kowloon Generic Romance manga on Friday, revealing the main cast. The anime and live-action movie are scheduled to premiere in 2025.
Voice actors Haruka Shiraishi (Golden Kamuy, Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai) and Tomokazu Sugita (Gintama, Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii) are playing Reiko Kujirai and Hajime Kudou in the anime, respectively. Actors Riho Yoshioka (Happy Wedding) and Koushi Mizukami (Shikei ni Itaru Yamai) are starring as Reiko Kujirai and Hajime Kudou in the movie, respectively.
Mayuzuki (Koi wa Ameagari no You ni) began drawing the sci-fi romance manga in Young Jump magazine in November 2019, a little over 1.5 years after concluding Koi wa Ameagari no You ni (After the Rain). Shueisha published the ninth volume last October and plans to release the tenth volume on October 18.
Yen Press licensed the manga in English in January 2022. The eighth volume went on sale on September 17, with the seventh volume scheduled to be released on January 21, 2025.
Kowloon Generic Romance placed third in the 2021 edition of Kono Manga ga Sugoi!' Male Readers division and was nominated for the 14th Manga Taisho in 2021.
Synopsis
In the distant future, individuals who adore the old way of life live in Kowloon Walled City—a slum city that serves as a refuge for those who long for the Hong Kong of the past. Realtor Reiko Kujirai, however, craves for the new and exciting places in the area. In contrast, her only coworker, Hajime Kudou, enjoys the nostalgia the city invokes and is put off by anything modern that seeps past its walls. But despite their differing views and constant bickering on the most mundane of things, the two often find themselves enjoying each other's company.
One day, a prank gone wrong leads Hajime to make an unexpected advance toward Reiko, after which he swiftly apologizes for. Baffled by his actions, Reiko starts investigating for possible explanations, only to discover a past that she has no memory of. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Not even 100 years have passed, lmao. As an ardent fan of Rain, I have been waiting for the adaptation of this manga for a long time, remembering this every time I see a new chapter of the manga.
You better think about how they bring to the screen a character whose reveal has caused quite a bit of controversy in the past. If you know what I mean.
@MegamiRem I’m not really sure, to be honest. I haven’t been there when it’s dark and only been there for a few hours a couple times. I feel like visiting there one more time now that you mention it and the fact that the adaptions have been confirmed.

What is that supposed to mean? Does he sexually harass or assault her as a prank?

Leave it to anime fans to come to weird conclusions lol. He's not even the one pranking and that synopsis is weird as well since I wouldn't call it a prank.
live action actress doesn't have big tits, trash adaptation
@Catalano Im not politically correct but come on, that was uncalled. beside, we are getting an east asian for an MC while hollywood is destroying every adaptation with their woke bull.
