I haven't heard anything about this novel, but if it is at least partially similar to their previous adaptation, especially in matters of choosing routes, then it will be a rather original adventure, yeah.

According to VNDB there's a male protag. Not a bad thing of course, but certain people won't like that.

@Tropisch Well, that's an obvious thing to say when you're dealing with an adaptation of a classic harem visual novel. Plus, he is already listed on the anime page.

I guess they toned down the eyes size and sharp face to match modern anime? But I really like the VN art style and I'm not seeing it here ;7; I thought the character designs translated well on Mashiro-iro Symphony anime that has the same original artist, so even though there's always doubts on VN anime adaptations, the art on this wasn't one of my worry.. but now I am kinda disappointed seeing this promo visual u_u

Oh well, will check out the anime because I'm curious how are they going to translate the story into anime format.

9 was so much fun and I always thought it'd work as an anime. Not much confidence in the studio and staff though... Oohata, please don't fuck this up

2025... Probably 1 cour. God, if it's 1 cour it's doomed ;;

Each girl has their own game, so it's 4 'individual' shorter visual novels. They all tie in together and it's linear iirc, so of all the recent VN adaptations (- Atri) it should be pretty straightforward. (as straight forward as adapting ~30-40 hrs of VN can be)

The words, what do they mean

The visual is really good, maybe even too good.

I heard there might be some kind of plot twist, or maybe I'm mixing it up with some other vn adaptation? Hmm

2025 eh. Soo still some time away, if its jan they probably would have said it?

That cast list though oof the nostalgia.

Though no idea how they're gonna adapt vn in what I assume to be 12 eps.

@Inorichi Hmm, you directly quoted me, but I didn't receive any message.

Are these routes not interchangeable?

@RobertBobert As he mentioned, it's totally straightforward so it's actually very easy to adapt without trying to change the story completely. All heroine routes' events are completely relevant to one another. In fact, they can do romance on all heroines without posing a problem to the story.

Of course, unless, this is 1-cour then changes to the story will happen. Such as cutting too much content and alter the events here and there or making a complete original story/route like what happened in Rewrite.

@Tennouji Adaptations of Key are a different story, I just still have rather difficult memories of adaptation of their last visual novel, where they essentially baited the viewer into buying the visual novel.

@RobertBobert Yeah Key visual novels are different because it works as any normal visual novel that it has branching routes so compiling them into a single series to make it as an anime need some work and can be difficult.

However, 9-nine's case is different. It's kinda hard to explain because it will spoil one of the main parts of its story. Just think of it as "playing 9-nine is like playing a visual novel with no choices, even the heroines you will take is predetermined, so it is totally like you're just simply reading". More like reading a light novel. You have no control how the main story will go, except if you want to see the bad ends. That's what we meant about its story being linear/straightforward so it SHOULD NOT BE really be complicated to adapt as an anime. They can totally adapt this 1:1 without changing anything, including the romance, if they want.

If you have some spare time, you can try the visual novel. I took a look at your VNDB list and I really think you will like it.

@Tennouji I've been used to linear visual novels since Kei and Higurashi, even if it's not exactly my cup of tea. I just want the female lead not to be boring, that is, not to exist only to motivate you to buy the game and read other routes, and so that the novel evokes in me a sufficient emotional response, and not a banal desire to finish reading it in order to put a "complete" tag on VNDB.

@RobertBobert Yeah, the routes aren't interchangeable. It's essentially just part 1,2,3,4 of the same VN, just each part having a different heroine.

Imo, aside from the first girl, all the 'routes' or heroines were pretty good, if not excellent. Niimi Sora (part 2) is a top tier imouto heroine in the VN space and Yuuki Noa is pretty top tier chuunibyo, and I'd say her game/'route' (part 4) is definitely deserving of it's #27 ranking on vndb.

@Inorichi So, if I understand you correctly, then without taking into account any nuances (so as not to spoil it), they can adapt all parts at once in one show?

@RobertBobert Yes, idk why I said essentially. It is just parts 1-4, there are no routes. An anime can adapt all of it in one show without making up a 'main heroine' or changing the plot

@Inorichi Well, let's hope so then. I can't get enough of quality visual novel adaptations.
