| I would say after. I feel that the movie does some things well, but in order to really appreciate Air that the TV series should be watched first, as it is the straight adaptation of the visual novel whereas the movie takes quite a few liberties with the story. |
| I agree with Meddigo. I also felt like it was easier to enjoy the movie after the series because I was already familiar with the characters, though Your Mileage May Vary. |
| The movie is more of a focus on the main arc of t.v. anime. They have a lot of differences though so you could pretty much watch whichever one first. I personally watched the t.v. anime first and watched the movie afterward. Like Fox said if you watch the t.v. one first it will probably familiarize you with all the characters so you might want to go ahead and do that. The Clannad movie on the other hand would definitely be best viewed after watching the t.v. anime. It has an alternate ending as well but unlike the Air movie loses a lot of emotional impact. So without viewing the t.v. anime first you probably wouldn't enjoy it that much. At least I am not sure I would have. |

| Same as most people here. TV first, movie — after. All reasons already written. But I would add that movie has one thing TV lacked. In movie romantic relations between Misuzu and Yukito are primary thing while TV is more concentrated on drama and mystery. So it would be good addition. |
