Hello to any anime fans here on MAL!

Two months ago, clips from a 1972 anime that was completely lost for years has since resurfaced, although only small clips from episodes 1, 3, 5 and the final episode are briefly available. I urge anyone who is big into vintage anime and lost media to check it out, but mostly as a "pseudo trailer" for what could be an absolutely underrated gem. This will be relatively spoiler free, as a lot of the available footage is out of order and lacks full context.

From the few clips I have watched, the art and character designs are admittedly rough and dirty for its time, but it has a lot of charm to it, especially with the avant-garde sakuga scenes. I also love how bubbly and wild the protagonist herself at first glance. Although I unfortunately can't speak Japanese to fully understand what is happening fully, the soundtrack and fashion alone feels unapologetic, rebellious, and very rock & roll. Admittedly you can tell it's still a lower budget show, but overall these short clips still left me wanting more.

I hope the footage we have seen so far stayed archived for the public to enjoy, but also that it starts intriguing more discussion within the lost media community to find anymore clips someday. Even if that's all we may ever see, I am very happy to have finally gotten a chance to see Mon Cheri Coco for the first time.

My apologies if this is a short discussion, as there is not much material and this is my first post. If anybody has also checked out the Mon Cheri Clips, feel free to share what you think.

@Memore Hey there! For now, the only clips you can find are on youtube and each scene is compiled in a compilation under "episodes 1, 3, 5." There also another clip from "episode 13" present, but they can also be accessed on lost media wiki for Mon Cheri Coco. I also learned that the episode numbering may not be 100% accurate, as they are a guess based on the chronology of the manga if that's true.

Keep in mind these aren't full episodes at the moment. The VHS footage is fairly low quality compared what it should be too, but if you're just curious to see what's currently available, I still recommend it.

I'm afraid the majority of the series is still lost for now, mainly due to copyright in Japan and any potential archives and copies have yet to surface fully. Also, quick warning for a unintentional jumpscare with the 1st scene of the compilation. It's likely meant to be some variant of Osamu Dezaki's Postcard Memory technique, but it is flashier than what is typically seen in other old anime shows.

Hope this helps for now!
