The official website of the Medalist television anime unveiled additional cast, new visual (pictured), and the second promotional video on Friday. The television anime is set to premiere in January 2025 on TV Asahi and its 24 affiliate stations' NUMAnimation programming block.

Cast
Rio Sonidori: Makoto Koichi (Tensei shitara Dainana Ouji Datta node, Kimama ni Majutsu wo Kiwamemasu)
Ryoka Miketa: Hina Kino (Buddy Daddies)
Mario Nachi: Megumi Toda (New Game!)
Ema Yamato: Kotori Koiwai (Non Non Biyori)
Yuudai Jakuzure: Takahiro Miyake (Diamond no Ace)

Yasutaka Yamamoto (Noblesse) is directing the television anime at ENGI. Jukki Hanada (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) is in charge of the series composition and script. Chinatsu Kameyama (Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. 2) is designing the characters and Yuuki Hayashi (Haikyuu!!) is composing the music.

Medalist adapts Tsurumaikada's sports drama manga, which began in Afternoon magazine in May 2020. Kodansha shipped the tenth volume on March 22 and will release the eleventh volume on August 22. Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in March 2021 and shipped the ninth volume on March 19. The tenth volume will go on sale on August 20.

Ufotable would've been a better choice to animate Medalist for those epic movements. I'm not liking how the cgi looks though. Finger crossed they don't butcher it. 🤞

I'm looking at the gifs in your sig and it's wild how much more fluid and natural they look in comparison. Engi has had since March to cook and if this is the best they could come up with then yeah for their second PV when it comes out on January, the yeah the series is completely fucked.

If they weren't busy with the second season of Shanfro, Studio C2C would have been great as well.

Yeah, it seems like it's not up to the standard. Not sure if it'll be good but, the pv screams average production, ugh.

And keep in mind, PV's are supposed to be the highlight reels of their work to get people interested. What we're seeing is likely the absolute PINNACLE of what to expect for this series.

One day we will get a female sports anime that isn't terrible. Sadly this isn't it.

@Calal-Chan Why? This is one of the most popular sports titles at the moment.

Mostly mocking the studios animation. Enji has never made a good show and this trailer doesn't really impress me and it is PV2 so this is probably the best they have.

The Manga just has such good art and will most likely be the only real way to experience the story due to the adaptation having poor animation, directing, music, you name it.

Basically a part of ice skating is the beauty and grace which this trailer just doesn't have. I am just a picky soul who wants more for something that could have been greatness.

Sadly you are pretty much right. They are either poorly animated or a cute girls doing cute things. I can name so many serious sports shows centered around males that are well animated and tell an interesting story, but basically zero female centered ones.

Same feelings. Others have said that it's actually really good by Engi's standards or even in general, but that still just falls so woefully short of what this series deserves. After the insane animation moments for Shangri-la Frontier, I really think Studio C2C would have done amazing work on this.

Forgot to mention, Shangri-la Frontier is poised to appear and have a panel at Anime NYC. Absolutely no mention of this series having anything there in spite of it coming out beginning of next year.
