@JaniSIr I think there are some longtime anime watchers/veterans that still prefer battle shounen over most other genres, but there are also those who only got into anime and battle shounen because their friends have an interest in them, and because it’s considered safe and acceptable to like lol. But yeah, I think a lot of battle shounen lovers either quit anime altogether shortly after, or they continue to watch anime but grow out of battle shounen over time.
@GinInYourJuice

I’ve seen a lot of “underrated” and non shounen anime and I still prefer battle shounen😅

@Kenzolo-folk oh that's nice 👌 I personally don't see anything wrong with that at all

@JaniSIr yeah that is pretty true

I'll say it again

No, you didn't formulated it exactly like that before. Now it makes sense.

more themes than just bullying and revenge on ojisa

Aren't those themes somehow adjacent tho?
Like because character X was bullied they took certain actions and ended up in even worst situation ect.
This is why I wrote at one stage that those two usually are "the roots" of what is happening...

So is giving one's opinion considered trashing now?

No, but you just happened to trash one of my favourites, Congratulations!

DigiCat said:
Did i ever accuse you of trashing my favorites just because you feel they're shallow?

Why wasting so much time responding to me than? You could diss me once or twice and forget the whole thing.

Did i ever go around saying "99% of shoujo are nothing but melodrama for the sake of shocking the audience"

Why would I care even if you said that?

So you need things to be repeayed word for word exactly as they are to understand that i'm saying the same thing? Ok? I don't really get it though since the reason i formulated it differently is cuz you didn't understnd what i was saying in the first place

No, not always

So, if that is what you consider trashing, are you ready to admit trashing my fav shows too? Cuz what i said about your fav isn't that different from what you said about mine

No, you words at one point could mean something different (like which was the objective stuff).

I didn't do it because those were your favourites (if at all, since the last time you kind of hinted that there aren't favourites of yours in this list), it (eventually) happened randomly.

Maybe you did it to make it clear, that you see it in the same light?

How am i saying anything different?

I specified what was subjective and what objective from the very beginning, i can only assume you're either ignoring it cuz it doesn't fit your narrative, or are really that thick you can't tell the difference

1) When did i hint that?

2) This is laugheble, you and i said almost identical things about the shounen i listet and Oooku respectively, yet when i say it it's trashing and when you say it it's not?

alshu said:

Yes i see it in the same light, and i do not consider finding someone else's fav melodramatic as trashing

"They see fights and screaming characters and immediately their first instinct is ...it can't possibly be deep." YUP- that's exactly right. Those two things are not deep in any way. You nailed it there.

"I mean there's a reason a lot of people say their lives were changed after watching... One Piece and Naruto". Indeed- and all those people are FIVE.
Kids entertainment is for kids.

"Just because it's packed with fights scenes..." Yes, it being packed with just fights does mean it lacks substance. That is precisely the description of lacking in substance. I AGREE.

Easily digestible action (your words)

is just that.

@SuperAdventure Just because a show has fight scenes, doesn't mean that is all that it has. Get better bait.

It was trashing, but it wasn't personal favorite trashing...this is how I see most of battle shounen,
Was that clear or I must elaborate more?

@alshu The way you're trying to twist things around by making out what i said is worse just because Oooku is one of your favs (which you mentioned after i supposidely trashed it) is frankly pathetic

I'll say again, not liking something and giving a personal opinion on why is NOT trashing, but you seem to have trouble accepting opinions that differ from your own

That's hilarious: 9 pages of two-screen long posts (on my mobile) discussing battle shonen, and in the end we find out there is no agreement on what battle shonen is.
@LoveYourSmile And to think that the easiest way to solve all those problems would be just going back in time to the roots of this genre: Ring ni Kakero, the first series eligible to be called battle shounen, and Kinnikuman, the second one.

I think that a lot of people discussing in this thread make the whole concept of a battle shounen show more complicated than it's in reality. But after seeing countless discussions on the topic of "what is a shounen, what is a seinen?!", I shouldn't be surprised, kekw.

If you take my posts as drama, no wonder you see battle shounen as deep...you are overexaggerating on everything by default.
