I am pretty confused on this. Are both OP and this going to air simultaneously, and how far will it go? I do have high expectations for it though.

@rohan121 The idea is for both to air at the same time going by earlier interviews, the Toei version is still intended to cover the whole manga. How long this remake will last is unknown, but they did mention wanting to update the 4:3 footage as a key reason for making this, so probably at least until the episodes that are 16:9.

Holy fuck this staff list is stacked. Ken Imaizumi AND Shuhei Fukuda as main animators is insane.

No trailer it sad to see, but this won't be out for years lol.

I'm not interested in this anime at all, to be fair, but I need to admit that the staff is impressive. It's full of very skilled and experienced people. This remake's action scenes might look really good in terms of animation.

@RobertBobert "The new anime series will begin from the Higashi no Umi-hen (Eastern Sea Arc) and is set to be released on Netflix."

Eastern Sea Arc or the East Blue Saga as its more known in the fandom is the first saga of One Piece where Luffy sets out on his dream to become the best pirate and meets first couple of his crew members.

@RobertBobert It seems like it yeah, I'm a manga reader only and this seems like a good opportunity to watch some One Piece week to week for me as well so I'll be joining in.

We'll just have to wait and see how do they plan to adapt it(more closer to the manga and cutting off huge amounts of filler that the original anime has) and how far it will go/how long it will be (will it be by seasons or it will keep airing for years without stop).

But since its for Netflix probably a seasonal format which if they split into arcs/sagas and take their time to do well it should turn out pretty good.

@Ramkec For me, this would be the best option, since I'm clearly not ready to try to watch the original anime yet and it looks like the remake is going to solve a number of problems or bad decisions of the first anime. But I'm intrigued by the decision to release the remake at the same time.

@Softhenic03 I think there will be enough money in this that they can go all the way.
So I've been banned from MAL-Badges, after spending nearly two years of my time and dedication to helping out, being the club's spokesperson, and planning for the revamp, it all goes down the fucking drain. What a joke the club has become. I advise everyone to stop using the feature and stop showing their support for the site and the club. We were promised that we will see changes come to the site, and nothing's been done for the past year. I doubt the site will be touched for the foreseeable future. If you're angry and annoyed about the lack of development, then good, you should be.

Hoping the wait isn't too long (people saying it'll take years to start airing). I personally hope that the Toei version is still airing when the remake starts airing. There is still a chance that this could start airing next year.

Really looking forward to this, seeing all of those old moments with updated animation will hit different. Also saw on Twitter that this version will be uncensored and more true to how things were depicted in the manga.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

Hopefully this will be a success and we'll finally have a good OP anime.
It'd take many years even after the manga ends but it would be amazing to have a well animated and paced adaptation.

A 2-cour season should be enough for the East Blue Saga (could be less episodes with longer runtime though).
With 150-200 episodes (6 seasons) they could adapt the first half of the series.
With 285-375 episodes (11 seasons) they could adapt everything until the current chapter.

implying the current OP anime isn't good

“Read as little as possible of critical or aesthetic works. They are either products of a close-minded spirit, petrified and devoid of meaning in their lifeless hardening, or clever verbal games [...]. Works of art are of an infinite solitude; nothing is worse than criticism for approaching them. Only love can grasp them, keep them, be just toward them. Always give precedence to your own feeling against these analyses, these reviews, these introductions. [...] You must let every impression, every seed of feeling, ripen within you, in the dark, in the inexpressible, in the unconscious, those regions closed to understanding. Wait with humility and patience for the hour of the birth of a new clarity. Art demands of its faithful followers as much as of its creators.”

@thebrentinator24 They actually mention the opposite in the interview, they'll take more liberties with the story rather than do a 1:1 adaptation, it's a ''new interpretation'' said Oda himself.

@Simar One improvement I hope to see in The One Piece remake version is getting a faster paced action scenes. In the Toei version, they stall a lot of the action scenes to pad the episodes, like Luffy's King Kong Gun in Dressrosa. There's an edited version out there that removed as much fluffy as possible from that scene. Wit could cut a lot from that alone, instead of 30 episodes of battle scenes, we get 10 to 15.

@ToG25thBaam I lost my last bit of interest in the anime on Punk Hazard when Grizzly Magnum was changed into a 90 seconds tug of war attack. Toei really wanted to make Luffy struggle against every opponent post ts.

I dropped the Toei one cuz this one is coming out, im good just exclusively watching this one from now on, if it gets sequels and finishes the story.

I'm guessing Wit will be able to produce maybe 24 episodes every 1.5 years for this One Piece adaptation? But it will be fun to watch both Toei's Anime every sunday and for the short span of time the Wit adaptation airs watch that the same week.
