If the downgrade in quality was already noticeable from the first episode, today's episode will make you tear your eyes out.

QUALITY show of the season. First third of the episode was abysmal, especially faces and hands were drawn terribly.

I thought I was tripping when I saw the animation change, so I had to rush to the discussion page to see if I was crazy or not. Unfortunately, I'm not one to skip episodes so I thugged it out, but man...... this was something.

I don't know what happened at SILVER LINK and Studio Palette while making this episode, but it's just painful to watch. Not only was the episode about nothing, the characters' behavior was reduced to a few wooden movements and a torrent of infantile words, but the animation was also pathological. It was the worst thing I've seen since KJ File.

The cartoonish way this series no longer takes itself seriously is one thing, but the way they did Rin wrong is appalling. Her eyes aren't the same color anymore and they make her look like an idiot compared to how she used to be. Disgusting.

What is this lame drawing and facial expressions? Sometimes it bothered me to such an extent that I was already thinking about not watching any more episodes. Where the drawing and the characters and facial expressions are very good, and where it is as if we have gone back in time 20 years.

I think Rin was the MVP of this episode.
The jealousy of Alice was fantastic.

retake is already out depending on your region.

well let's talk on how much changes in the retake compared to original one

1. side face of Alice and Rin while tailing Iska and Sisbell (this is the reason why i stopped watching before they announce hiatus)
2. difference in brightness between the pairs, one cheerful and one gloom, maybe that was too much
3. more people watching at the cafe.
4. the physics when Alice want to hold Iska's hand as a form of reenactment, they totally remove it.
5. the brightness after the castle had been bombed inside.
6. they did not introduce all Saint Disciples when they are gathering in the meeting room
well there might be more, it might be more appealing imo. but one thing i glad, they did not change the ending, because it was perfect,

here are some pictures from the original and corresponding changes. and the last 2 pictures was my favourite during the ending. Sisbell and Alice watching the camera as the ones who desire Iska's attention

I forgot to ask this last episode, but why is this a Thursday anime now? 🥲 it was originally a Wednesday anime back in Summer 2024.

How awesome I get to sing along to TWO OPs in one day this season. This and the Brilliant Dark Healer OP too 🔥

4:30 this was one of my favorite scenes when I first watched this last year 🤣 Rin going crazy and Alice aboutta lose a sister, also Sisbell so bold. But man, I remember just how awkward this scene was originally with that poor animation quality. What an upgrade.

Rin is voiced by the same Seiyuu who also voiced Hayasaka from Kaguya-sama 🤣 I realized that as I watched this last year. How perfect. Rin to Alice is exactly like Hayasaka to Kaguya. Both have to put up with their BS 🤣 same voice too

10:20 this was also another amazing scene two in one episode 🤣🙌🏻 Jealous Alice and getting all intimate with Iska

20:15 omg this girl is voiced by Ayana Taketatsu! That’s right! I remembered this scene instantly 🤣 Nino from Quintessential Quintuplets

@azl96 Thank you for all the details on the changes, I could certainly tell they darkened certain scenes, sometimes it looked good and other times it looked kinda awkward, but overall a good change imo. The best change tho was probably the weird boob physics when Iska had his arm between Alice’s chest, that was what I was anticipating the most because I remember how bad and inconsistent it looked, I’m pretty happy with the way it was done in this new version of the episode.

And man it’s nice to see/hear that beautiful ED again, not sure if they changed it or not because it never had any issues from what I remember, but it sure is looking as good as ever, still doesn’t beat ED1 for me song wise but it is a great tune.

Just watched the rebroadcasted version, massive improvement to the art in particular, face shapes (for the most part) are consistent and look good now. Overall it's nothing amazing but it's a good improvement and episode 2 is very watchable now. 8/10 improvement, episode is MUCH better than before but not without some extra room for improvement unfilled.

The only problem is that I'm kinda sour about this being shown as a Studio Palette x Silver Link thing. AFAIK Silver Link has basically done nothing for this project, Studio Palette has been essentially working on this themselves. It could explain the original broadcasts poor quality if Silver Link basically left them in the dust to make it themselves. Either way good job on the improvement to Studio Palette, as for Silver Link, I hope that studio doesn't take on an anime when they're only gonna half ass it. (especially if they're basically a no show like for this one)

Edit: Just went back and re watched both the new and og broadcast and I think I understated this a little in my original statement. Almost every single shot had changes/improvements to the art. There were tons more minor ones I barely noticed had changed but when viewing side by side with the OG I can tell the improvement is there and is most definitely welcome. Overall still a 8/10 improvement as the actual "animation" didn't improve too much though the art most definitely did, my main complaint is the lighting/shading, some scenes have lighting that just feels a bit off, not that the original was much better as it didn't really have much lighting/shading anyways but still not ideal.

Honestly, with all the changes/fixes we've seen I gotta say that this season is overall looking pretty good now in terms of production quality. The real question now is whether or not the story this time can surpass season 1.

I like to watch some anime, I like to talk about some anime, I dislike wars over some anime, but more than anything I love to live my life, anime is an enjoyable and entertaining addition onto my life but it's not my whole life.

Anyone looked back to the original 1st episode and discovered if there are any changes in the lines of the characters or stuff like that? I cant really tell if sometimes they just say completely other stuff than before.

so far, i did watched both, the dialogues said are pretty much similar based on subtitle. my eyes and ears might not catching any small differences. if there is, maybe part where Rin confronts Iska before meeting Alice in a frozen room at night

might need to rewatch back, and update here if there is any

Probably straight out of Japan, they’re not available anywhere. Crunchyroll said they would stream them but they never did

Even in the rebroadcast version, nothing has changed with Crunchyroll's releases, though AT-X has them (and if you would've transferred subs to there instead).

Still, the story, rewatching a second time, at least hold its weight.

Holy shit, they blew their entire budget on the 1st episode huh ?! Or was it made by interns ? The difference between episode 1 and 2 is like night and day.
Now this was god awwwwwwwwwwwwwwful art and animation, folks. TBATE looks like a phenomenonal masterpiece in comparison.
Shame, i really liked season 1. Hopefully the remaining episodes aren't as bad.
