So Frieren is one of the biggest shows right now and still holds the title of being number one on MAL. There is no doubt in my mind that we will get a season 2, but as most of us know Madhouse shows don't usually get second seasons and when they do they are done by another studio and most of the time have worse animation, for example One Punch Man. I don't want this to happen to Frieren, but if it does I at least want it to be a good studio. What are your thoughts, and if you had to choose what studio would you want to do season 2?

Toei can have it, imagine Frieren done as all CGI but PROPERLY…
Kinda joking, I’d rather see it done in traditional 2D, but I’d like an episode in the style of Girls Band Cry.

Kyoto Ani, Brain's Base, or Studio Bind I think could pull it off since they've done major fantasy anime before that also looked great.

Meanwhile Overlord, Chihayafuru, and Diamond of Ace:

Real talk though, this whole topic of "Madhouse doesn't do second seasons" needs to stop. For one, Madhouse itself has no power to choose which series gets continued or not. Production committees for each series will have different priorities on what they want to do with the IP.

In Frieren's case, given one of the producers from TOHO side had interest in an adaptation in a super early stage and specifically sought out Yuichiro Fukushi because he knew how good he was, I believe he may try to push so that he can actually happen again. It's a real question of wether or not Keiichiro Saitou will be available to work again, or if not him, maybe another key member like Tooru Iwazawa taking over.

That’s the kind of reply that makes sense, well stated. We probably haven’t been given an announcement yet because the staff chosen for such a major project need to synchronise their schedules to find a suitable time period where they can all work together. It may be a year or more…

Yeah I’m watching Girls Band Cry rn and I didn’t expect to like the animation style as much as I do and am glad I gave the show a few episodes.

Let's pray for a miracle because most sequel seasons of incredibly well animated anime are not nearly as good, the logic is something like "why put effort, when fans of the first season will watch the sequel anyway?". Even if Madhouse will still be in charge of it, reassembling the same exact core staff will be tough.

KyoAni would kill it, they’ve got the chops to make an incredible S2. It doesn’t hurt that the themes in Frieren are reflected in other KyoAni works as well.

keeping the same Director any other studio is fine. We just need to wait and see if he will make season 2 of Bochi the rock first or Frieren, or even maybe if he was already hired for another completely different project

They're actually adapting a new manga series called Orb.: On the movements of the Earth. Idk how big it'll be as a project but they've already officially announced it. Plus they've probably got some projects that are yet to be disclosed to the public I'd assume.

Frieren is the best anime till now, it holds number one place in the ranking. It wouldn’t matter if it’s a different studio as long as they’ll still do the greatest job in animation, characters, story and music. Hope they would not get worse, but we should not believe that. Let’s not forget that Frieren has the most manga copies sold (above 120.000 if I remember well).

In addition to this, Sousou no Frieren won the title of the best adventure anime 2023 at Anime Awards. It would be amazing if the new studio were Aniplex, Sueisha, Kodansha or even Toho:)

Aniplex, Shueisha and Kodansha are known for being producers, not animation studios.
Toho is also mainly known as a producer, though they at least have an animation studio, but only 1 successful Anime so far.

Another random suggestion, there was this really well animated show last season about a reincarnated 7th prince doing magic…
Who thinks Tsumugi Akita Animation Lab should do it? Stark with thicc thighs and tight hot pants, lots of fan service, plenty of onsen scenes? Yes please!

I hope that never happens, I loved the work MADHOUSE did. But if a change of studio were inevitable, I only can see two good options:
1. WIT
2. KYOANI

I wouldn't imagine the huge disappointment from the fans if the studio turns out to be something like J.C Staff, Passione, P.A. Works and similar, since we all have high hopes it's gonna be a top tier one.

I can only see KyoAni, Wit Studio and ufotable pulling it off as well as Madhouse did. Everything else would probably be a decrease in quality.
I will watch a season 2 anyway, no matter who does it.

1. Wit
2. Production IG
thier work on frieren ๐Ÿคฉ. Because, Wit and IG both have experience on this genre, so it'll be hot take.

First point: Best 3D CGI show I ever saw. Incredible range of facial expressions plus decent backgrounds and occasional outdoor scenery.
Also, characters are all really nice, vulnerable, strong and everything in between like real teenagers.
Finally excellent music, I would follow a band this good.
Ps some people find the main character abrasive but I’ve raised a daughter so I find her really believable and charming.

Bro madhouse don't give a fuck that an anime is #1 on a western site lmao. Also chill out. Why so pessimistic. There isn't even any information about S2 and you're talking about a studio change. It's like you're still doubting the greatness of studio Madhouse. Still pumping out bangers decade after decade ๐Ÿ’ช.

Yep no doubt, I think the reason the series is on hiatus in the Manga is linked to this too, not to mention, I'm guessing the producer of Bocchi the Rock is pushing for Saito to S2 of BTR which is probably throwing things off too

While I would hope for Madhouse again I just hope whoever the next studio is doesn't do what JC staff did to OPM season 2. I don't mind waiting long as long as the quality is still good. I think the studio that did MT might be good or maybe WIT?
