Yomi is a brutal father, but loving...in a way
but he is a demon father which means he's probably actually not all that tough on Shura

loved Yusuke's speech

What's the point of Shura if he was eliminated so quickly? He was built up quite a bit for a one-episode battle, which he lost. I was expecting him to defeat his father.

haha I am got trolled, I thought Togashi would make a spectacular ending with the last duel maybe between Yusuke and Shura. But I think I was wrong, most likely the ending would be a heartwarming ending with all the Demon Realm will get and live as they want..
I really thought that Shura would win, or at least Yomi do admit defeat because the fucking reason like "my son is have a talent" or something like that, but Togashi didn't do it.. That is I love of him, he is not a 'mainstream guy' afterall ...

I was expecting much from Shura but he is just a kid afterall. But anyway, love the fight between him and Yomi. And Yomi looks pretty good afterall.

thank fucking god that yomi beat shura, the fight was handled really well...

as someone else said, if this had been any other shonen, the "super talented young kid" would have won because the older person would have suddenly succumbed to "I'm getting too old for this shit" syndrome...

Since Shura does not seem to be an exact clone of Yomi, I wonder where the other half of the genetic material came from.
It would amuse me greatly if it was Yoko Kurama, but I doubt it will ever be revealed at this rate.

The past two episodes have made higher classed demons seem too weak, though it seems like some of the ones that came out of seclusion for this tournament will indeed be far more powerful than the fodder we have already seen over and over again.

Old post, but I'd say Shura exists to flesh out Yomi and allow us to see him in a different light.

This tournament is definitely getting rushed, but I would honestly take a rushed one like this over a ridiculously drawn out one like the Dark Tournament.

Poor Shura never stood a chance...

Yusuke's speech was cool. He really does love to fight.

Theres really no bad guys to fight so this is literally just everyone having fun :)

Anyways I really didnt like seeing Shura and his dad fight each other since its kind of a waste of time to put him on screentime unless he has some kind of major role later.

Despite it being a body bag, Yomi vs Shura was one of the better fights in the series. Was no bs, just a loving father beating down and giving a lesson to his son for 15 minutes. Coo.

Really expected more of Shura.

Honestly this episode was boring as heck... So much screentime on the father and son fight, considering that barely any episodes are left, they should really put screentime on more important parts. Nonetheless, this is getting rather exciting.

This was a terrible episode, one of the worst in the series. It was an emotional fight between two characters that we don't really know, one of whom was a weird fetus in every prior episode and the other being a cold, calculating, business-minded villain. The fight between them was just sort of big attack after big attack. Everything felt so hollow since nothing is really at stake here for the viewer; it doesn't matter to us who wins. I was surprised at how bored I got during this fight compared with basically everything else in this show (besides the last of the Sensui stuff). The end of the episode livened things up a bit thanks to Yusuke, but the earlier fight really was a boring experience. I'm a little curious if Shura plans to (or knows he will) lose to Yusuke with hopes that his son will avenge him in the future. It seems like this fight may foreshadow stuff after the end of the show. I really don't know though.

What was the point of Shura? I fear that this was nothing more than wasted potential. But knowing what the author of the manga was going through at the time he ended this series, I find it hard to fault him for slights like this.

Shura's main purpose was just to show Yomi's strenght. It's called "power scaling".
Just like Kastro vs Hisoka, Genkai vs Toguro, Kuwabara vs Rando etc. Its to give the viewer the idea how much powerful the villain is.

I was about to lose faith in the show if this little annoying kid got overpowered outta nowhere and beat his father who've been hyped up as one of the strongest demons in the whole realm, but thank god that didn't happen. Sorry for ever doubting you Based Togashi.

that battle was rather pointless, that kid should have just give up...

love how he phrased it though "seems he doesn't have any strategy" though it's pretty sums up yusuke, he can be surprising at times. i believe very much that he got really powered up after fighting his father.

Well, that was some family quality time. Good thing it wasn't literal fight to the death, at least now.

eh I guess I got a bit fatigued with this "another tournament" ending arc.

Yusuke still has an obviously fodder opponent despite this breakneck pacing

I do love how this is different from most Shonen. One thing about Togashi, he's the opposite of Wattpad writers, who write those werewolf stories, and he's the opposite of Shonen. In Togashi's works, the older and more experienced fighters win, which is how it should be.
