If you add "Berserk" as an alternative title to the new series, Taiga will prioritize that. Note that this may cause the files that belong to the older series to be identified as the new one as well.

Hey, just noticed today that Taiga thinks Berserk is the 1997 series when it's actually the one that started airing today (the CGI one). How can I get this to change in Taiga, to automatically download?
Since HS is only using "Berserk" Taiga obviously thinks it's the original series.
Add "Berserk" as an alternative title (without the quotes) to Berserk (2016) and it should be fine.
Keep in mind you'll need to remove the alternative title to watch the original series afterwards, of course.

Yep, that's exactly what's happening. I added an alternative title to both and renamed my old files, so hopefully that fixes it once new episodes come out.

Though, will this alternate title work for torrent tagging/downloading?

Yes. The underlying mechanism that identifies torrent releases is the same as the one that identifies the files on your computer. You can read the "How does anime recognition work?" section on the FAQ page for more information.

Adding an alternative title to both series (assuming it's the same) won't help.
Add it only to the new series.

It's because I had not pushed it to the update server yet. You can try again now.

Thing about the Teekyuu Specials is that the user has to pick the Teekyuu 2 Specials entry to associate an alternative title to the Specials (Commie uses "Teekyuu - OVA"). I wonder if there's a way so you can add the alternative title to any of the entry and it all works neatly. I tried to think of one but still not too great with this.
At least by using "!" here we can at least let the user have Taiga recognize that entry's episodes properly, for example, if they open "Teekyuu - OVA 7" and associate it to Teekyuu 5 Specials, at least that will work, will still have to add the alternative title for every other entry to recognize that entry's episodes.

Longer version:
I managed to make it how I was suggesting above, adding an alternative title to any entry works. Problem is, episodes 1 and 2 aren't recognized properly, episodes 3-10 work fine but not 1 and 2, those get recognized by being episode 1 and 2 of whatever entry I set the alternative title to... Like if I add "Teekyuu - OVA" to Teekyuu 3 Specials and play "Teekyuu - OVA 2" it *should* see it as episode 2 of Teekyuu 3 Specials and redirect it to Teekyuu 2 Specials episode 2 like how I have set above, but it's not doing that.

Unless I'm misunderstanding this and this only works for episodes past the entries limit (so this list only starts working after episode 3)?

I can't seem to find any releases that require the Re:Zero-to-Re:Petit redirection. Which fansub groups are doing that?

I'll be adding the Teekyuu redirections, but no need to add dozens of rules for a couple of special episodes.

Also, are Teekyuu 5 Specials and Teekyuu 6 Specials released? The last one I see from Commie is the Teekyuu 4 one.

Ohys-Raws has the ReZero specials from 1 to 25, this was also to safeguard in case other people released them like that since it's possible too.

And I'd assume Commie or someone will release them eventually.

Episode 16 and 23 are the specials, all releases have them put with the other episodes.
But it seems like this won't work, I reckon you should really look into letting us write rules to redirect all episodes and not just those outside the entries' range.

Another example which would benefit from this is https://myanimelist.net/anime/10464/
Which aired from episode 0 to 9.

Hi there again,

having a bit of a problem with recognition... without having to enter an alternative title.

[Kametsu] Fate Stay Night - Unlimited Blade Works - Sunny Day (OVA) (BD 1080p Hi10 FLAC) [4BE5A7CC].mkv - Not recognised

[Kametsu] Fate Stay Night - Unlimited Blade Works Sunny Day (BD 1080p Hi10 FLAC) [4BE5A7CC].mkv - Incorrectly Recognised as Prologue instead of Sunny Day. Actually, any variation that has "invalid" episode number such as 0 or no ep number at all gets treated as Prologue.

It seems no matter what I try, Sunny Day just doesn't get recognised without resorting to alternative title.
Any smart tips?

Also, I came up with this "fairly good" naming scheme:
[<Group>] <Anime Title> - Episode <##> - <Episode Title> [<AVC/HEVC> <Hi10P/Ma10P> <Resolution> <BD/TV> <FLAC/AAC/AC3>][<CRC32>].mkv

I'm considering adding Season ## right before Episode, or replacing it with S##E## as it is often used for TV shows and works with Taiga too. I'd say it's fairly well readable by both human and anitomy (which is what I'm after), it's only problem so far being veeery long episode names. Thoughts on this?

The problem here is that Taiga thinks "Sunny Day" is the title of the episode.
Also, in this case it doesn't matter because Taiga can't recognize either, but you'd have to add "2nd Season" to the filename.
It's telling you it's the Prologue likely because you have an alternative title either in S1 or the Prologue itself, in case it's in S1, Taiga sees the numberless filename as episode 0 and redirects to the Prologue.
I'm thinking here that Taiga is ignoring everything after "season" except for a potential episode number, which it can't find, so it has no idea what entry to pick.
This seems to be another very specific case since I can't reproduce it with other entries.

Adding 2nd Season to the filename had no effect, or maybe even confused Taiga even further. It was one of the first ideas I tried, before I asked for help.

All episodes of both seasons are in the same folder, prologue being 00, and 2nd Season starting from 13, no problems with recognition there. Sunny Day without number.

Maybe I'll try playing around with delimiters to see if I can make Taiga think Sunny Day is part of anime name.

@Paulo27 I indeed missed that post. Thanks.

Shikabane Hime: Kuro -> ~ Special

Which fansub groups' releases require these rules?

By the way, not sure if intentional, but with the last update, anime_relations.txt is now anime-relations.txt, that confused me a bit.

Yes, it was intentional. I moved the data out to a separate repository, and renamed the file for consistency.

Seihou Bukyou Outlaw Star -> ~ Specials

It seems this is more of an issue with MAL's database:

I reckon you should really look into letting us write rules to redirect all episodes and not just those outside the entries' range.

Taiga will pretty much always favor the metadata provider (MAL, in this case) over filenames. I don't think that redirecting in-range episodes would be a good idea.

For Shikabane Hime, Exiled-Destiny has them like
[Exiled-Destiny]_Corpse_Princess_Ep26_(0CBC4800).mkv
And then there's
[NAKADASHINOURESHISA]_Shikabane_Hime_Kuro_-_13_(h264_832x480_OGG)[24768A68].mkv
Both are the same episode (the S2 special), hence adding the rule for both seasons.
They should both be on Nyaa if you search for "Corpse Princess" and NAKADASHINOURESHISA

And MAL isn't exactly wrong with the Outlaw Star specials, it's consistent with what they do for just about every other series, but since the series is a bit older and they only changed it now, it causes a bit of a problem. Ideally fansubs/licensors would label these as 16.5 and 23.5 episodes like they do with other specials most of the time, but again, series' old.

Also, @erengy, it seems like Taiga won't notify you of other relation updates if it already notified you once, you updated the relations several times now but I only got notified the first one, I always had Taiga open so not sure if a restart would fix that.

Also this one doesn't seem to be done:
Update:
# Magic Knight Rayearth -> ~ II
- 435|399:21-49 -> 1563|1403:1-29!
Just to add the !
You can search "Media Blasters DVD" to see this one.

I haven't pushed the latest anime relations to the update server, because I'm planning to release v1.2.5 soon.

Ah, ok. I should have checked if the file actually updated too, now that I think about it.

Taiga doesn't currently recognize X.5 episodes unless (I think) they are a single episode entry and you set the filename as an alternative title (so if it was just episode 20.5, you could set "Shiki 20.5" as an alternative title and it could work).

Could Taiga scan folder names for anime information as well, and from that understand what series the files in the folder are from? For instance, I'm currently watching FMA, but the episodes are just named as "[Philosophy-Raws] 01. Those Who Challenge The Sun", something that seems fairly common for older series. The folder is named "[Philosophy-Raws] Hagane No Renkinjutsushi (Fullmetal Alchemist) (2003) [BD 1440x1080 Hi10P - FLAC2.0]", which clearly has all the information needed, and could probably be parsed by Taiga no problem. Would be super useful and solve a lot of problems with older shows where file naming wasn't as standardized as it is today.

Set "Hagane No Renkinjutsushi (Fullmetal Alchemist)" as an alternative title. Taiga already reads folder names, I haven't tested those but they should work, unless Taiga isn't parsing the episodes titles correctly there, doubt that though.

Apparently Taiga forgets to ignore the fansub tag in those cases. I guess it actually sees the tag and ends up ignoring the folder name and doesn't take it into account.
"01 - Those Who Challenge The Sun.mkv" will work perfectly fine but "[Philosophy-Raws] 01 - Those Who Challenge The Sun.mkv" doesn't.
And the alternative title here would have to be "Hagane No Renkinjutsushi (Fullmetal Alchemist) (2003)" didn't notice the year before.

Ah, that explains it. I tried messing around a lot with alternative titles, but I guess that's why it didn't work. Should have done more detective work myself, but oh well. Thanks a lot!

I do think this should be made to work, though. Also that kinda goes for the alternative title as well. Things in parentheses could possibly be checked if they correspond to a release year or an alternative title or other things like that.

What can we use to replace http://hummingbird.me/api/v1/search/anime?query={title} or is there nothing right now? I tried to search around but not much luck.
Please fill the HB/Kitsu IDs below.

- 30782|?:13 -> 31283|?:1!

# Bikini Warriors -> ~ OVA
- 30782|?:14-15 -> 33712|?:1-2!

Bump on my post above too.

File names?

@Seyfert Only reason I can really think of is that maybe you don't have them in a library folder.

Works for me. You sure you didn't somehow set that as an alternative title to the main series?

I haven't set anything, it's still the same [Assassination Classroom, Ansatsu Kyoushitsu, Assassination Classroom] for Ansatsu Kyoushitsu.

UPD Started an episode again and it wrote right now.

Don't think the Shoushin Shoujo Matoi or Getsuyoubi no Tawawa Specials or Nanbaka's 2nd Season have been added to Kitsu yet, at least I can't find them.

didn't recognize ginga tetsudou 999 movie
[Henshin-remux]_Ginga_Tetsudou_999_(BD_x264_1280x720_FLAC)_[96841846]

i think the program thinks the 999 is the episode number
"Watching: Ginga Tetsudou #999 (Not Recognized)"
once i removed the 999 from the file name, it at least suggested me the titles.

I have the following files in directory:
https://gist.githubusercontent.com/Predelnik/606da87373b80471d267f85206734562/raw/7af4bea0703939ba2de416cdb6a9698e14447d06/gistfile1.txt
But Taiga can't find episode 34 and 35. Don't trigger my OCD plz.

Edit: Problem with file size < 10 mb which I reported on github.
