| I actually have no idea what to think of this show. On one hand, the comedy is great and it has fun characters/setting. On the other though, its animation and art have something left to be desired. I was surprised when I saw this was made by SHAFT, a studio that’s known for the Monogatari series, Madoka Magica, and Pyschoelectric Girl (Denpa Onna) which are all very beautiful in that department. This must’ve been one of their first ones. Looks like there’s a reason it’s so obscure. Edit: The animation isn’t bad, I take back what I said. |

| Feel bad for Kurumi, which incidentally, Actually helped me remember her name compared to others in the episode! Also, She's voiced by Kana Ueda? I can't seem to hear her Rin voice :O Why do that Vending Machine Cat always appear on any Vending Machine XD Solid stuff, but we need more crazy scenes! |
| this show is teaching me the distinction between "random" and "absurd" comedy. they are related of course. i think absurd being a more refined, perfected version of random. for random comedy you can just say or do the first thing that comes to mind and seems unexpected to the viewer. there is a higher bar for absurdity. contrast PaniPoniDash with Niichijou. both seem random on the surface, but really Niichijou is doing more than just random things. they are doing seemingly random things but the ideas in the script have been weighed, thought about, and refined to deliver something that's actually funny. i don't get the feelings from PPD that the same level of comedy crafting has been exerted. they just keep rapid-fire throwing stuff at the viewer and maybe once in a while something will land, maybe not. it's random. |
