| Bullshit! Ren was attending the same school as Karin and Anju. He awakened after he had bitten his female classmate who like him (though this was not true for him). Then he had bitten some teachers, erase memories of all school and left the school forever. (though I know this story was made up by Boogie) And Vampire transformation is very painful thing, no way could he just running around like nothing happened. |

| Wow, they butchered the fuck out of Ren's backstory in the anime. Holy shit, that's one of the worst changes from manga to anime I've ever seen. In the anime, he's like a homophobe who's self hating for accidentally experiencing BL. In the manga, he attended a regular school. He hated pretty much everyone and just wanted to awaken and leave, but one of his female classmates (IIRC she was the class rep) always tried to reach out to him. Then they got closer and he fell in love with her, and at that time awoke as a vampire. He ended up feeding on her and then used his powers to erase his existence from pretty much everyone in the school who could cause problems. Including the girl he loved. And at the end of that manga chap he's walking with some hook-up and he ends up seeing her walking down the street and gets depressed. His hatred for humans stems from the fact that he endured the same kind of tragedy that Maaka was going through, only he was never able to coexist once he awoke because he's a regular vampire. And after awakening right after he fell in love and having to leave the human world behind he suffered a broken heart. WAY more dramatic in the manga. This version was such a yaoi fest I'll need to watch lesbian porn for 3 days straight to readapt. |

| Must admit, this episode is the reason why I picked this anime. |
| Uh oh, Yaoi moment #2! Followed by another one... Then another one... Then a final one that is just a bit too much for the mods to allow. Still loving this anime, but they really like putting in stuff that could pass for unironic yaoi. I kept doubting that they would only let him have one type of awakening. They went way farther than I ever could've expected. Not my favorite episode, but it's my second favorite for sure. That extra twist of the knife with Makoto at the end was especially unexpected. |
