THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
-Otonashi didn't die in the train crash?.. Intresting plot developement. Could live without it, but it's a nice turn of events. Least when compared to his lack luster flashback.

-This episode almost concretes my opinion that this show isn't about 'Rebeling Against God.', it is almost a character study of sorts. But then again, anyone watching this show since Episode 3 might have realized this.

-What they were actually signing was the Organ Donor section of their ID cards.
But it's still heart shattering to know he died just as the rescue team arrived..

-Kanade ;__;
She's so moe..

If there is one thing this episode has taught me, is that Otonashi is turning into the Jack of Angel Beats.

Oh, and Tenshi is class president again. Wonder how that is going to play into later.

Otonashi confirmed as the final boss, all is going according to keikaru now

Save the SSS by making them all disappear while pulling the strings from the inside, with Kanade as his helper.

Also LOL FAIL @ him for dying a minute before being rescued

So the really great part of Otonashi's past was still missing. The random humorous lines did not always fit in the atmo, but finally not a "cram anything into it"-episode, best episode so far!
And nice that Otonashi already realized, what his next problem will be. I hope it will continue as good as this.

.. so Otonashi and Kanade are going to make the SSS' disappear so they can pass on with their lives, with their first victim: Yui! (basing of the preview) I am gonna hate them for making TK disappear in the future though. This will surely make an interesting confrontation between Yuri and them, when/if she finds out their plans.

Do you have read Tsubasa Lover spoiler box?
If not please read it.

Otonashi have probably survived and got rescue team if that guy didn't ran away and spilled the water and then Otonashi said I won't drink anything so don't worry, he perhaps saved everyone else from that but don't know about that one.

Too much Otonashi? Otonashi is one of the main character so we need to know more about him but now we know. :D

Another cliffhanger... They loooove cliffhangers... Well at least it wasn't as big... I'm still looking forward to the next one...

But I'm really wondering what made Yui die or have regrets. And also... If everyone disappears but Otonashi and Ms. Tachibana, what will they do? Be together?

GODDAMN SLOW-ASS RESCUE TEAMS! (even if the "rescue at the last minute while main hero dies" thing is kind of overplayed, it always gets to me)

-The entire train scene was almost like a completely different anime. I actually liked it because I figured "Otanashi dies in a train crash" just seemed kind of cheap for such a main character. It makes sense that it would be something that really suits him like taking on the role of Jack from LOST like saving people. I bet if that asshole hadn't stolen the water he would have lived. Where did that jerk think he was going anyway? Both sides were blocked.

-OtonashiXKaede moments are just so sweet.

-This sort of "let's maneuver around Yuri" thing is giving me Death Note vibes but in a good way not a "I'll be the new god" way.

-So how are they going to cover the pasts of all the SSS in 4 episodes? Looks like from the last sentence of the preview, Yui's up first. (Oh god, if TK disappears, it's gonna SUCK!)

I too have to admit, this show has gone in a completely different direction than I thought. Now the tagline of "The greatest story celebrating life" in the PV makes more sense.

At least his body saved some one in the end, hopefully since he become a doner... I was amazed about how he tried to treat everyone's wounds, except his own...sadly it's because of this that he probably died... D:

It was a good episode, I loved the flashback... and the realization at the end. (:

5/5 hands down. Dropped the humor but in turn the drama was played out to perfection.

We finally got the much anticipated pov switch. Everyone was anticipating Yuri was a faux protagonist from the beginning so it didn't come as too much of a surprise but I still like the development.

Kanade and Otonashi established as an exception pair, I LIKE ^.^. particularly that last line.

I'm no doctor by any means, but Otonashi must have had some serious internal bleeding (judging from him coughing up blood and the huge blood colored spot on his stomach), and probably damaged his intestines, because that dark spot was about the area your greater omentum is, which probably got tore open inside him and spread an infection.

Really, that sounds like he was one of the ones in the most pain, but he sacrificed everything he had for those people. Amazing how he made such a huge personality change from a selfish self-obsessed child to an all out caring guy that pretty much gave up his life for all those people by not asking for extra supplies or killing morale with their leader being in that kind of position.

Pretty amazing episode. Drama was great in this one, almost like Clannad. The donor card scene was outstanding, made me optimistic that those types of people may be out there in the world. Otonashi sacrificing himself to actually save another's life, even in death.

The humor was still there though: "Oh!, Everybody seems to be quite smart today! Did you eat something bad?" LOL. And TK and Matsushita dancing outside of the door... rofl :D

It takes the same amount of muscles to close and open your eyes, so it's most likely when someone dies that they'll be open considering people spend like 7/8 of their lives with their eyes open.

I'm quite feel like the same when he died, feel so bad about that when he could have a success life as become a doctor.
I think that guy that Otonashi saved first in the train is not going to forgot the moment but everyone was half dead there so probably in hospital they tell that he is awesome or something like that, even thought they only been together in one week I guess he cried for Otonashi and regret about not giving him the water or something like that, well that guy shared the water bottom, but what is going on with Otonashi injured in the stomach? Why didn't rescue team getting there earlier?

I agree with your frustration. When they were still in the tunnel for the 7th day, I was really mad, cause there is no way the thought of breaking up the tunnel would have been thought of by the police/rescue workers. Even if they couldn't blow up the rubble with explosives because of the people inside, it took them 7 days to claw their way into the tunnel's rubble? They obviously knew where the train was since it is on the tracks, so threre should not have been a problem of finding the passengers quickly.

Well anyway, Otonashi's story of self-sacrifice was given more drama because of the long wait, so it makes for a good story.

Haha I'm the same. I love these hopeless situations, but they somehow make it kind of scenarios. Kind of like code geass, but less depressing than the end of season 2

I think Otonashi is going to get a few of them, and it will be Yuri, TK (maybe), Hinata (of course), and a few others are going to find Otonashi out, and they will fight him and Kanade at the end somehow.

I don't know how it really works, but I could imagine it may take a while: First they need to actually notice that the train is missing, then have to find it (it's on the tracks, but they can't simply look for it by train if they already expect an accident), and when that's done they just know they need to bring equipment to get through the rubble... 7 days still sounds a bit much though, I don't know...

Dying before the rescue teams arrived. That's just a sickening way to die. Still at least it's better than that one I seen before which was the "Family committing suicide and leaving the father behind to see the rescue teams arrive five seconds later." I mean that was just a kick to the head.

Drama was certainly improved in this episode. Still it seems that they just are not going to deliver on that war against god thing I was hoping for. But then again I figured that out after the second episode.

"I always take life with a grain of salt, ...plus a slice of lemon, ...and a shot of tequila."
