Kuromii said:What objective are you even talking about? That everything needs to be in Japanese? How can we even understand it then? By this "objective", even English subs would be defeating this "objective". Unless you mean some other "objective" I'm not understanding here.

What's wrong with Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu?
Its annoying to have it displayed in its original language? Thats kind of like saying you'll only watch dubs because the original Japanese audio is annoying, which in turn kind of defeats the objective of watching anime, doesn't it?

yeah, but in this case, i'm neutral. I mean, if you google for Melancholy of haruhi suzumyia or suzumyia haruhi no yuutsu, the same thing is going to appear. If you think that way, then what about jigoku shoujo? And Higurashi no naku koro ni? Seto no Hanayome...
There are lots of anime in MAL which the titles are in japanese, and if you try to traduce them to english, you get a different meaning, and sometimes it's safer not to traduce the title. In Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni, the english name is considered when they cry. But that's not what it really means. In japan, the cicadas that sing on sunset are called higurashi. But in english you don't have a word to define that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the DVD title for Higurashi the same in America? My view on this is the title should be what the american copy says. As far as I can tell, the DVD copy isn't the japanese title which makes it an official translated title.
