@Kwanthemaster would this project be something you'd be interested in helping out? If you go decade by decade and list all the lost media entries? |

This one boggling entry from the 1930's was said to be archived and it exists, but it cannot be viewed in public ever. And since there's absolutely no way anyone can see this one, this entry should also be blacklisted. It's inside this spoiler. https://myanimelist.net/anime/38339/Suzumi-bune First hentai ever made. No ordinary human on Earth will ever get to access this. |

After a quick Google search, I found three pages that may be useful: Lost Anime Category page at Lost Media Archive Lost Media Interest Stack Lost Anime Iceberg at IcebergCharts.com |
“In general, men prefer to let their actions speak instead of words. When they’re in pain, they don’t want to burden anyone with it, not if they can help it. They don’t want anyone to worry about them. That’s how they are. Even so, there may come a time when they’ll ask for your help. And when they do, I know that you’ll be there for them. _cjessop19_ said: @Kwanthemaster would this project be something you'd be interested in helping out? If you go decade by decade and list all the lost media entries? So for the purposes of this document we are defining lost media as anything which is both known to have no existing copies or which could not have reasonably been marked legitimately by anyone on the site at any point in time? For example, I believe some of the Anime Beans series can now be considered lost media, but I managed to view them while the app was still up. The same could possibly said for some rouge commercials that were tossed after a marketing campaign and no copies have been found floating around elsewhere on the internet. On the flip side, many of the educational OVAs (see the relation list) are not on the internet/available to purchase, but are widely circulating at libraries and schools in Japan. Some of these show up occasionally, either through official uploads or someone ripping a copy. The note about "partially recovered, but still mostly inaccessible" is worth diving into too. There are some works which may only have partially surviving footage (e.g. Katsudou Shashin, but MAL and everywhere else tracks what is available (I think this is correct and can be completed) vs. something like Chaplin to Coogan which only a clip is online, but the full film is stored in an archive (maybe periodically shown at events like any other museum-exclusive material, but for all intents and purposes, not accessible). I think we can agree you are referring to the later, but I just wanted to call that out. While I may strive to be a purist in terms of wanting to complete the full version of things, I think it would reasonable to say if 50% or so of the footage is online (e.g. a short version of a music video), I wouldn't hold it against someone marking it. I am happy to review the lists and provide any additions once you've made them. Please feel free to refer to my dropped list if it helps (it's not tagged with lost media though). One thing I'll call out is that there are quite a few Minna no Uta that are believed to be lost. Only two are currently in the database: https://myanimelist.net/anime/43598/Ookina_Furudokei https://myanimelist.net/anime/39225/Watashi_no_Kamifuusen But I plan to add more over time if they are known to be animated (they will have no cover and a note that it is lost on the entry). |

Even if you did watch them, myself and everyone else cannot. It's like how people watched the really old lost media when they were originally released, there will always be some people who have seen them. But for the sake of the present day, we would have to mark them down as lost media. Otherwise people can mark it down as complete when you're not supposed to. I won't list educational OVAs as lost media as you mentioned that they are widely circulating in schools and libraries, but I think it's reasonable to mark museum-exclusive or privately shown stuff as inaccessible/lost media as a majority of MAL users are outside Japan. Maybe not until those people upload it online if they feel like doing so. Kwanthemaster said: I am happy to review the lists and provide any additions once you've made them. If you could, that would be great. Half the stuff in these lists may be lost media, but no one has been able to find videos of them posted online. If you know where some of them may be watched, please share the link. |

Since the search bar doesn't work when you search for an anime once you are on the site, I went through all the anime that start with "A" and "S". Just in case the movie is titled using the Japanese title or the English title.Kreidirk said: _cjessop19_ said: https://myanimelist.net/anime/28693/Seisho_Gensou_Fu__Adam_to_Eve Can someone check zoro.to as the name appears on that site? _cjessop19_ said: Alright, thanks for the clarifications. I completely understand wanting to keep up to date with lost media, but I don't think it is fair to punish people who have legitimately viewed something. We should still receive XP and not have our accounts flagged (for the purposes of Anime Beans, you can use the date the app shutdown: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2023-01-31/production-i.g-anime-beans-streaming-app-ends-service-on-march-31/.194367). Since I already did a breakdown of everything on Anime Beans, here is the unavailable list I came up with (you're welcome to double-check in case I missed something):Kwanthemaster said: I believe some of the Anime Beans series can now be considered lost media, but I managed to view them while the app was still up. Never hurts to check, but just giving you heads up. |
