| Well, Ishihara Ritsu have been directing most of the successful animes, Konan, air and clannad and so on... The new director of Angel beats is Seiji Kishi whom is great at messing up the whole shit and make it totally random to match up to the comedy, he was the director of Seto no Hanayome and that anime was not very too nice... Well, at least as random as Gintama xD Jun Maeda's story and Seiji Kishi's randomness was expected to turn out awesome, at least that's what the other Staffs thought but this anime have mixed up the randomness comedy and the serious part abit too much xD |

| Yeah, this anime is great, that's what I think too, great comedy but a little bit lack of drama and "emo moments", this isn't very similar to Maeda's style but it does contains some short scenes that are like Jun Maeda's style... |
| Personally, I'm enjoying this a heck of a lot more then Air... It still isn't up to Kanon and Clannad, but I never really saw a big deal with Air. Something that is really working against Angel Beats! is the fact that it only has 13 episodes and it seems like it really needs more then that, unlike with Air where I didn't really think it felt rushed... It should have been a 24 episode thing instead. |

I think Kyoto Animation versions of Key stories are better, look at Air, Kanon 2006 and Clannad, for example all produced by KyoAni. I'm sure Angel Beats! could have been 24 episodes as well which would have helped with the pacing. Totally agree with this. Angel Beats! was promising. It could have been one of the legendary anime if the pacing of the story were better than how it actually is. In most episodes, it seems like the comedic parts and the drama parts were mixed randomly -- too randomly, and that kinda ruins this anime. They could have added some transitions to make the story flow more smoothly. I just think KyoAni had done a better job than this. |

Just didn't have the plot that the other three have. The characters are fine and all, but I think it suffers partially as well from what Angel Beats! does as well, it was kind of poorly paced. Nobody says it's bad or anything, just not as good as Clannad and Kanon, and Angel Beats is slowly but surely climbing over it as well. Just personal opinion. |
| Angel Beats is better than Air, but fails in comparison to other Key works by a lot Angel Beats has a lot of good ideas that NEVER manage to get executed to their full potential, Maeda Jun really had something going for this show, but making it 13 episodes was the worst mistake he made. Because of such a limited time a lot of things are either left behind or are rushed crazily, and because of that the show has followed the same pattern for almost half its run, and it goes like this 1. Continue from where the last ep cliffhanger left 2. "Resolve" the issue by the first half of the episode or a bit longer 3. Small cooldown and return to "status quo" 4. Throw a twist right at the end, ignore whatever other plot elements were developed before and now focus on the new issue 5. Episode end, go back to #1 If this series was 24-26 eps long and had a more fleshed out plot and character development, I could easily put it above Clannad in terms of enjoyment |

| IMO. Air is it's own genre, thought I have to say, I don't really get this show, the connection I made with the character is very loose, to the point that I care very little for them. (Partly because I watch After Story prior to this... thus maybe made look short...) Clannad and Kanon = Same genre. IMO, Clannad win big in this due to Okazaki Tomoya and Furukawa Nagisa as lead. which IMO, made Tsukimiya Ayu and Aizawa Yuuichi look very stale in comparison, Nagisa and Tomoya's romance far surpasses the two. After Story = a league of it's own. One of the best work ever done. Angel Beats! = Another genre, I haven't finish, so I can't say whether it'll be great, though I highly doubt it'll be better than After Story, I actually enjoyed this show more than Kanon and Air as of now. To be complete honest, even Kanon and Clannad felt very different for me... though there are similarity in storyline/style. Angel Beats actually felt nothing like the previous 4... sure, there is something familiar, but it is not... as strong, in fact it felt quite different. Angel Beats is a comedy with a deeper storyline behind it, while the rest are other way around... and they don't focus as much on comedy... not at all... |

Angel Beats is good, but if they spread out everything they wanted to do over say 24 eps instead of cramming it all into 13 i think it could've been much better. |
