Well that city got pretty leveled.

The ending song sounds like they are saying WIENERS FOREVER instead of WINNERS FOREVER. xD

A bunch of orphans kids, huh... Reminded me of the original Gundam.

This show is intense! It has a lot of violence and seems to be very good.

So far im enjoying it, the pacing and directing feels much better than in the original and zeta, im just worried about whats to come as some people have told me this has the ridiculousness of ZZ gundam but it takes itself super seriously

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

Nakata Jouji's opening narration is always worth watching.
I can't get enough of the ED song.

So far, so good.

Why do I have the feeling that the baby won't make the next episode pleasant? The kids in MSG were at least a bit older and in there for comic relief. This baby is in here for WAAAH WAAAAH probably...

litle by litle the plot is clears and is taking way, but it still lacks that touch that distinguishes the "Gundam Series".

A century after space colonization started, everyone fears the guillotine.

The rampage imade the episode interesting, but I do not grasp the character named Miss Katejina. She doesn't like immigrants and lower people, yet she had an internet correspondence with Uso and took the baby.

I am slowly starting to like the vesper style mobile suit, it fits the anagram of the ennemy (BESPA/Vespa/vesper). But it still is an odd idea to make helicopter-like suits when you are starting a space war (maybe those models were only designed as earth invasion forces?).

3/5

About the french fansub (Kibo, I think), the translation of almost every english word present in the japanese dialogue is pretty annoying.

@Sapewloth In the end, it was not so bad to show her behave like that so soon. You are better armed to face her evolution throughout the series. Katejina is a big source of anger among the western (Internet) audience of this show (for wrong reasons, at least partially) but Tomino seemed pretty proud of his creature.
The music is indeed pretty good in this Gundam, despite how often the tracks are repeated over the 51 episodes.

Uso and Katejina's link (at the start) is that they are epistolary "friends", a welcomed adult presence during the absence of Uso's parents I guess. And now that they are interacting in person, the young boy is impressed by the woman (the typical mature woman crush thing who started with you know who in 0079). Add that to his need of a maternal presence. On the other hand, there is a hint of maternal protective instinct on Katejina's part.

You are taking it slowly with this Gundam. Fear of the "burn-out"? ^^

@Sapewloth Glad I could motivate someone to continue it.

Wow the bombing of Woowig was F91 levels of brutal. Hpefully Victory won't follow in its predecessor's footsteps and actually be worth the watch. Still puzzled by Uso's mech savvyness and perhaps even more so by his relationship with Katejina, but I'll try not to think too hard about it for the moment. A young woman (pilot or not) being assigned the role of caretaker for war orphans has pretty much become a recurring element in Tomino's shows so I'm not surprised, but I hope Victory will offer a wider variety of portrayals for its women than what I'm seeing right now.

Yeah, I don't get her either. She's sending some mixed signals there.

edit: I really like the soundtrack.

@Rei366 I did hear and some pretty horrible things about Katejine before hopping into the series, so you could say I was already prepared for whatever crazy character development Tomino decides to throw at me, but I still found her behaviour confusing. Your explanation of Katejina and Uso's relationship does make sense, though.
Yeah, I do realize that I'm watching the show at snail-like speed compared to Zeta, ZZ and the like x). It has more to do with IRL stuff preventing me from properly binging the show than a fear of an eventual burn-out, though. For all the complaints I have about UC titles, I find hem surprisingly easy to marathon (except for ZZ's last third: if it weren't for the fact that you were watching at around the same time as me I would've probably given up on it, haha).

Ah, so I did indeed hear Dio's voice. Or rather, Takehito Koyasu's voice, who is Sabato's voice actor. How appropriate, both characters seem to share a profound lust for blood. The statement applies to the rest of BESPA as well, though.

So much destruction, despite the fact that this is merely the third episode of the run. Things aren't looking that hopeful for Uso...

Some of the still shots in this episode (explosions), as well as the last shot in the previous one, really look good. Remind me of Dezaki style.

I wonder what's the relationship between Katejina and Uso (and how did they come to know each other). Katejina seems to come from a wealthy family (is she a "princess" or did I miss something?). There's another one though, the sister of this Chronicle guy.

The fact that Uso is an "illegal resident" has been mentioned twice already, so we're again in this situation where some Earthnoids were expelled to space by the government?

According to ANN this show has 12 unit directors o_o

This episode was kinda dark at first. It looks like the beginning of F91 movie.

All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.
