What is the best arc in Hunter x Hunter?

I'm partial to Yorknew and even the Hunter Exam arc but the Chimera ant arc is great as well.

personally the election arc has always been my favourite. I think the Killua/Alluka storyline is the most emotional I felt in the show, and I just really enjoy seeing politics play out in anime, especially in one with such a unique world like HxH (and Pariston is introduced and he's such a great addition to the world)

In terms of anime, then probably Yorknew 2nd because there's less to complain about than Chimera Ant which is right behind. Chimera Ant just focuses on so much that I don't care about everything (mainly just Ikalgo, I did not need a whole episode of him - specifically him because I don't care about him - deciding whether to close a door)

the current manga arc(s) are easily on par with those three though and depending how this Succession war plays out (if it's ever finished) I could certainly see it taking 1st.
If the Dark Continent introduction counts as an arc (like everything before getting on the boat in one?) then it's also up there - probably 5th though - just because I love me some good set up and character interactions.

those would easily be my top 5 if we count manga and that in between arc counts as one

Hunter Exam was my favorite.

I enjoyed the character development, and there was a lot more to the battles than simply being stronger than the opponent.

personally really love Greed Island and Yorknew City! I liked the Chimera Ant arc but it just felt a tad slow at the start (to the point that I got kinda bored). however, the pacing served its purpose I guess since it gradually laid out the characters pretty well.

Ja ich finde den Wahl Arc am Ende des Animes auch total unterschätzt, die schmutzigen Umtiefen der Politik so unverblümt darzustellen wie hier ist für einen Shounen echt ungewöhnlich und nicht mal One Piece bekommt dass gut hin wie hier Hunter x Hunter obwohl der Arc relativ kurz ist.

I think all arcs are great and I honestly have a hard time choosing any of them, with the exception of the chimera ant arc, that one sucked. I have never seen any piece of fiction being dragged out to this degree with people still saying that it is great and there are things you can like about this for sure, but it is around as long as the entirity of FMAB and you can't tell me that they are simular in content. Greed Island also suffered a bit from this, though not because it is too long, but because to little happens. It is simular to Jojo part 1 in that regard though granted it is both a lot better constructed and way more entertaining.

Overall I think I will go with the hunter exam not because it is the best developed arc, it definitly is the simplest out of them all, but because I had way higher expectations for the show at that time and as an introductio, it nearly met all of them. So if I were to sort them by entertainment, the hunter exam would most definitly be the best with yorknew city being 2nd place.

Chimera too long, York New too much change in pacing, Greed Island too boring, Hunter Exam too sudden of an end to then be told its not over.

Chimera arc for me. Seeing Gon and Killua's growth and the character development of all the group. Meruem learning what it means to be human and Netero's power, ending on Meruem the way it does. It really got to me emotionally and Gon being so badass too. I love all the arcs especially Greed Island but Ant arc is number 1 for me.

the chimera ant arc or phantom troupe arc even tho chimera ant arc is soooooo long the nostalgia of the arc is so good and gon vs pitou netero vs meruem and the phantom troupe arc was sooooo great gon and killua finding put there plans kurapika going to get his scarlet eyes back and killing one of the phantom troupe members to get revenge on them killing his clan.

I’ve heard it’s an unpopular take, but my favourite is the Hunter Chairman Election arc, mainly because of Killua’s relationship with his sister. That being said, I think I like the Yorknew arc just as much.
