| Damn that was a pretty crazy fight. Gabimaru just barely was able to get out of it and he wouldnt have if he didnt have help escaping. Seven of those Tensen to deal with? That's quite a bit. I like how they have floral appearances. |

| This episode served the purpose of showing us Gabimaru's (current) absolute capabilities, but it's apparent that cooperation is the only way forward, at which point I think that the cast will be fine. Consider that Gabimaru was unable to deal with Rokurouta on his own either, but with the help of just one Asaemon (given Sagiri is one of the best), he dispatched him without being pushed to his limits. Also, I love that the brothers (supposedly) managed to escape the hell pit, I wanted to see more of them. I guess that from here on out we might be going the Terraformars formula of reluctant allies perishing one after another to take down the enemy forces. |

| Gabimaru has his first duel with a Tensen and shit was brutal. Animation was good, pretty fluent and the choreography was decent. Some of the scenes you could feel the impact of the blows, and overall it looked like a good fight even if the logic of Gabimaru taking on a God seems a bit wonky. Yeh so pretty crazy that Gabimaru can stand pretty much on par with a "god". Even if it looked like he actually landed a blow with the kick, he beat it's ass fast enough it couldn't regenerate and until it pulled out its trump card. Genuinely curious if they'll give a reason, other then MC plot armour, to why Gabimaru is able to stand face to face with them. All things considered tho, did seem like Gabimaru was bested in the duel. I also find it wild how Shinobu like Gabimaru have some final stand mechanism were they unconsciously use their last draw of breath to do as much damage to the opponent as possible. Like how the fuck do you train a human to go as far as to do that. Pretty big lore dumb on the Tensen. There are seven of them that rule the island, but apparently they use to be a singular Hermit who mastered the arts and became a God that split into seven parts that all have different roles. They are very much immortal with some incredibly strength, which we've seen, but an interesting take from Gabimaru, "They're neither hermits nor gods. They're true monsters." it's true that after seeing that Tensen's true form and Gabimaru pushing it to its absolute limits, they can be seen more as monsters then anything, but the talking tree did say the Tensen is a singular person who became a god, so i'm confused on whether they are actually gods or just monsters that were worshipped as gods from their powers. Granted Gabimaru did get deaths door, so i wouldn't be shocked if he hit his head a bit to hard and now is a bit crazed. Either way, fighting words from Gabimaru to say to acquire that he'll have to "defeat them" to get the Elixir. I'm surprised he hasn't considered like, you know, sneaking in and taking it, cus after one fight he was beat so hard he envisioned his wife. This truly might be the closest thing to "An unstoppable force meeting an immovable object." |
