| I think he will return eventually. In his latest interview he was more positive on returning to finish Vagabond and i think the recent deaths of a couple prominent mangaka affected him. He also said in his previous interviews that he has not dropped the series. He is just overwhelmed with the series because of the expectations (his own expectations not the fans') and the feelings he wanted to express with the story has not matured in him yet at that time. So in order to recharge himself (in a way) he dedicates his time to his other manga "Real" (his wheelchair basketball manga) and basketball in general. He also draws posters and promotional signboards for the Japanese Basketball League. I always pictured the final fight of the manga would be a whole volume without speech bubbles, like the last chapter of Slam Dunk but not just a chapter but a whole volume. This could work very well because his opponent doesn't talk. But that is just my wish. |
