It's not that the adaptation is not good, it is pretty solid. My gripe with it is that you are not allowed to like any characters because it is either obvious they're a total psycho (for example Makima, for whom I don't understand the appeal), they are unlikeable or they die. I have yet to find a character (even in the manga) that didn't fit one of these criteria. The episodes are also in general not really interesting and the great animation can't fix holes it can't reach. The story is not really good or original. It feels like if you took jujutsu kaisen and threw out most of its redeeming qualities (especially with the character part) and replaced them with a story that is dark just for the sake of being dark. It's not bad, it's just painfully inconsistent

I’m surprised. For me it was the opposite. I thought the story was told better through the anime. Considering Fujimoto is a huge fan of films it was nice to see his ideas fleshed out in a “film” form rather than illustrated on paper. When I finished the manga I thought it was overrated but the anime has me looking forward to future chapters being adapted in a cinematic style. It’s like how we were meant to see this story.

Not sure why myself. My brother and I enjoyed the manga. I actually started reading the manga because of the anime. I’m seriously enjoying it.

Good is subjective. Objectively it is a good adaptation but could have been much better. Animation was almost too clean for the type of gritty story being told.

they toned down a dope and fast paced manga making it look like it was an edgy, boring ass shounen which Chainsaw Man absolutely isn't, animation started melting a lot at some point and character acting pretty much died halfway through the show

Because everyone knows that a good adaptation is one that copies the manga panel by panel, differing from the manga to take advantage of the medium of animation is clearly a bad thing since watching an anime and reading a manga is the exact same experience, another reason is that I saw one millisecond of CG the first episode and my last brain cell exploded, also it was made by MAPPA so it's got to be a bad adaptation and its cool to hate on anything MAPPA makes for no reason, Sorry I have to say it's a bad adaptation so I can feel like Im cool and I have great taste.

I appreciate this response.

im graduated in film school and the adaptation has some of my favorite direction ever in any piece of media. granted i didnt read the Manga before so i guess some people might not be satisfied with the tonal difference, but honestly just adapting the Manga 1x1 would just make for a subpar product, having and excellent manga AND anime is where its at.

The adaptation is 100% faithful for sure yes, but the CGI and a realistic direction was too much of a concern. Some scenes lacked that anime feel to it, especially those Denji facial expressions.

Not agreeing with any form of art is ok. I support the idea of clearly presenting your intentions out. Unless those opinions don't make any conclusion. I have seen many Twitter users directly saying the director to die. What kind of act this is? I have personal dissatisfaction with anime, but I will never ever say to change the director or any artist. Simply asking them to die or quit their work is not something should be said.
If your parents did something, which is not what you expected, then can you really say straight to your parents to quit or die???

in a simple and summarized way: the manga in the part where the anime adapted it (in fact until the "hunt for Denji" arc) has a "polluted and chaotic" atmosphere but the anime left everything too serious , a way of exemplifying (a bit exaggerated but more or less along these lines): imagine if Martin Scorsese made a Deadpool movie
in general, manga has this "polluted and chaotic" atmosphere but some serious moments, the anime kind of reversed, leaving the work serious with some "polluted and chaotic" moments

Personally, I felt it was lacking. I needed more episodes. That is why I gave it an 8. If this debuted with 24 I'd change it to 10 because it was fun. I am stoked for season 2.

it's genuinely concerning that you will give it 10 if it was 24 eps..

It’s a good adaptation, I just think that manga is the better form to take in the story. Some manga are better than their anime adaptations and some anime are better than their manga. A lot of people might change their opinion on this once the anime finishes adapting Part 1 as it’ll be easier to compare them when they both have the full story.

Cuz the anime is super incomplete in the season and doesn’t explain much. I had to go to the manga for an explanation because as a blind viewer it didn’t make any sense ending at that point.

Of course, like most of the people who bash AOT, but I'm talking about specifically why people who like the manga don't like the anime. That's what I don't get. What about the anime do manga readers think was poorly done?

Nawww AoT got actually bad. Only story I know where the mangaka openly regrets the way he took it lol and Zeeeeeero likable characters. It’s just hyped by the masses it’s like anime of the walking dead

some of the cgi isn't top tier....

that's it!!

yes, that is genuinely it. some anime fans are just extremely spoiled. for the first time in years the popular battle shounen lived up to the hype, and somehow it got more hate than it ever deserved.

CSM is considered a battle Shonen..? 🤨 don’t you think that’s oversimplifying lighting in a bottle

CSM s by all means a battle shounen, just because it does things differently that you generic battle shounen, it doesn't mean it's not one.

fullmetal alchemist is a battle shounen, so is mob psycho 100,  jojo, attack on titan, and vanitas.

all of these are plenty unique and different.... saying CSM is not shounen, is like saying the dark knight trilogy are not super hero movies.

I thought it was fine, except I hated how they did the animation. Not because of the cgi, but I hated the rotoscoping. The walking animations were atrocious, everything looked super unnatural and it was very distracting.

There wasn't that much rotoscoping in the anime to begin with. You just have animators like Kouki Fujimoto who are able to make perfectly lifelike character acting animations.
