I felt this volume was quite verbose and took a while to get going. All the stuff with Lang and the ministry of the arcane is just kind of meh to me at this point. Especially with Euphie due to inherit the throne I just kind of don’t care about the political squabbles.

Ilia and Lanie’s relationship was really the highlight of the volume. I love seeing how aggressive Ilia was with Lanie, especially considering how reserved she normally is. I really want to see more stuff with them in the next volume.

Idk it’s gonna sound kinda crazy but now that Euphie and Anis are so in love and official, I feel like the story has lost a little bit of the magic lol. It’s like you have a long journey and then you get to the destination and what is there more to do? I guess the political/social changes, and then the eventual wedding but I don’t know if that’s enough to keep things interesting. Need a love triangle or something lol.

The coronation at the end was great though, it really did feel like the beginning of a new era for the kingdom and I do look forward to volume 5 to see what Karasu sensei does to keep things fun.

The series has a lot going for it but it sure is inconsistent, and i feel like the author is struggling to balance the character progression with the overarching plot.

It's currently sitting in some awkward halfway-point between slice of life romance, fantasy action/adventure (vol1), and political drama.

It was a good volume and I'm interested to see how things progress, but I do hope the author can come up with some sort of direction for things, because since Algard was shipped off there hasn't been a real antagonist.

Like sure the traditionalist nobles oppose Anis in the background, but they haven't really done anything to get in her way since volume 2. Bridging the gap with Lang was a good arc, but it kind of felt like things worked out a little too conveniently.

It also feels like Anis's characterization has been a bit lost. There was very little of the "princess peculiar" behavior in this volume, and I get that she's trying her best to behave but it's a bit of a shame that the traits that made her charming in the first place have largely disappeared.

Definitely. I’m hoping the next volumes have more direction, we’re on 7 volumes in Japanese so you’d imagine it’s not just SOL.
