“My star” is probably the best translation. But it’s like jujutsu kaisen, everyone calls it that cause sorcery fight sounds dumb.

The only official name is Oshi no Ko. But if there were to have an English title, it would most likely be named "Idol's fan" or something with idol in it (obviously)

Here is a good description of the usage and meaning of Oshi: https://japanoscope.com/oshi-meaning-%E6%8E%A8%E3%81%97%E3%81%A8%E3%81%AF/

Oshi no ko can essentially mean "The girl I idolize" or "My Idol Girl," the literal meaning is "Support's girl." You can see why "My Star" is the easiest way to translate it to English.

It's a three way pun. It's untranslatable for that. If you want to know what i'm talking about watch TheAnimeMan's video on Oshi no Ko. Either that or gigguk, I often get them mixed up.

To add on to what I said, there's a lot of word play in Oshi no Ko. For instance, Hoshi means star, oshi means idol. They sound similar for a reason obviously. Ai means love, everyone knows that. "Ai Hoshino" in Japanese is read as "Hoshino Ai". which means "Star of Love", or "Love Star". I'm interested to see how this ties into the plot, as I refuse to believe this name and their eyes are coincidental. Albeit, Hoshino Ai is likely not her real name. Infact, she probably doesn't have one.

To explain what the 'No' particle is, it's basically a connection between 2 subjects. It can be translated as "Of" or "Of the".

I remember Joey said it meant, and i'm paraphrasing, that it also has something to do about her children. "???". Also you can thank the Mushoku Tensei LN for teaching me "Hoshi". Nanahoshi secret best girl(?)

Am I the only one understanding "Child of Oshi" or "Idol's Child"?
- no ko as in, "onna no ko" or "otono no ko" for children.

Edit: I don't know why I forgot to just point out its the kanji for "Child".

I can add that while we never had an official translated title, the german release called it "Mein Star", directly translating to "My star". If they would be forced to use an english title, that would most likely be it. But oshi no ko just sounds cooler.

It's already been explained by Cmatt. The title is a word play, which has multiple meanings.

Don’t even try to translate it like the official translation was going to be My Star child in the idol world but like ye sounds shit. So they said Oshi No Ko.

It's better that this one does not get an official English title. The original is already very easy to pronounce.

From the Translations Notes from the Yen Press (physical manga) release:

Oshi is a term used by fans of idol groups, bands and other similar acts to describe one's favorite member.

The title【Oshi no Ko】has been left untranslated from the Japanese because the phrase can have multiple meanings depending on context. "The girl who is my favorite performer," "the girl who's a fan of my favorite performer," and "the child/children of my favorite performer"—among others—are all valid interpretations.

My star, I hate it. I wish they would have used a translation that came up in the manga. It would be long but I like it better than my star: “The Child of the Idol I support” that was given at the end of Volume 2 chapter 15

Eh, the fan translation of the manga switched from using "Oshi no Ko" to "My Star" only after the title was used as such in the manga itself.

Thai version use "Reincarnated as Oshi's Children" If there are English version, it may be like this. Oshi mean the member in idol group that is your main support.

Well the most well sounding probably goes something like "The child of the idol i support", so it could be turned into "My idol's child" but "Oshi no Ko" sounds way better

There are many titles: my star, my favorite’s child, and some others
