I don't even know what you're on about. "The bird shit example" was used to signify that you're not just unlucky when bird droppings fall on you. Ego says the shit could've been avoided if you noticed factors such as looking up to see if birds are right above you or looking down to see if bird droppings are below you... In the same way, you could drive in a different lane to avoid a bird shitting on your car, it's not just due to your luck or lack thereof. That links to the final goal because Rin(whether knowingly or unknowingly) put himself in an ideal position to get the rebound by following Isagi. Ego says it wasn't due to luck and Rin dismisses that statement. Ego believes that Rin could've stayed at the edge of the box instead of following Isagi and that would've resulted in him getting tackled. It makes a lot of sense to me.
Doesn't make any sense because in real life birds don't have a fucking bathroom, they shit everywhere and most of the time while fliying so there is no real chance you can avoid it.
A better example would be something like "if you never leave yout bedroom a bird will never shit on you", which is true 99.99% of the time.

Birds do have regular roosting spots and you can identify those spots by the massive amounts of dried bird poop around the area. Anyway, Ego isn't saying that you can avoid bird poop 100% of the time if you are ultra-observant, but that an observant person will be pooped on less. or at least an observant person can avoid being pooped on when it is avoidable. And that a person can't blame bad luck when he walked right into a roosting spot. It's not the best analogy but the main take-away point is that in soccer you need to make your own luck. Sometimes a ball can deflect off you into goal without you meaning to do anything, but an actual good striker regularly looks for goal-scoring chances to fall his way. I think the word to describe these players is 'opportunistic'. It's not luck that players like Haaland always seem to be at the right place at the right time. Likewise, crappy defenders tend to score more own goals. It's not like elite defenders will never score own goals. It's just that with their elevated sense of positioning and reading of the game, such 'bad luck' seldom fall to them.

Sad to see that luck played such an important role, even tho Isagi was able to surpass Rin in the end. But honestly in a situation like this it's not "only" luck. Rin simply anticipated where the ball could eventually land after getting blocked so he would have the biggest chance of scoring a goal. One of the greatest examples for such anticipation was Filippo Inzaghi. This guy always had a good nose for goals and therefor he was one of the greatest strikers.

With his Isagi's evolution in this game it was pretty clear Rin would choose him. I felt bad that he had to leave Chigiri, Barou and not to forget his bro Nagi. I hope we'll see all of them again, but for now Isagi has to concentrate on himself. Ego's little speech definitely gave more information and hints on what Isagi is still missing.

What's extremely exciting now is the fact that Rin's team will be playing 5 world class players. Not sure why people are complaining about the English. Not counting England in they represented France, Argentina, Brazil and Spain. So either way their English wouldn't sound perfect.

I'm hyped to see more of this match. Isagi's team might've scored the first goal, but I feel like this was only the world class players testing the waters. The real test will begin now. Crazy to think we're already reaching the last episode, but nonetheless I'm looking forward to next week.

Good ep. I really didn't expect Isagi to lose! Great plot point imo and it's satisfying that Rin chose him still, acknowledging that in that moment he briefly lost to Isagi.

Isagi's scream when he lost was weird af though haha. Little gremlin or something

This match vs the world five should be good. Although I really can't stand the terrible English voice acting. It is really bad and cringe haha. I'd rather they do the thing where they speak in Japanese for us but they're supposedly speaking in English in the anime. You know it's bad when you have to read the subtitles to know what the "English" guy is saying lol

Question - How is this third selection meant to work if they're playing the world five? Does every team that passes the second selection play the world five? Maybe you get graded on how many goals you score against them, dunno

Another question - Is this world five all U18?

tbh i think there's nothing wrong with the english voice acting here. Unlike other animes, it makes sense why they have accents. The guys with accents are from Spain, Argentina, and Brazil, none of which have English as the national language so you can't expect them to speak perfect English. The England guy can speak English perfectly which fits his nationality, so nothing wrong with that either.

Oof that game ended as soon as the episode started. I don't mind, this episode was interesting. with Ego's breakdown of how luck works in soccer (at least in blue lock). His logic is always well thought out even if they don't apply in real world soccer.

Anyways wow, we're already at the end of this 1st season. This time next week, we'll be here discussing blue lock for the last time until they make season 2 or if some of us immediately picks up the manga.

Bro not me crying because Isagi was picked and Rin had to be the one with the last goal. Rin is on a whole different level dude. That was insane. Who were the 5 plays supposed to represent irl? Also the English had me dying, especially Rin's. Also the link up between Rin and Bachira was impressive, a little sad that they looked past Isagi. I feel like the glam guy and the probably autistic guy aren't contributing to the show other than being glam af and cringe. I appreciate Ego reviewing how "luck" worked, even though it genuinely was luck. Hopefully, the original gang can get back together. I just hope Reo and Nagi don't end up on the same team again.

Yeah, but they don't sound like they're enunciating English poorly simply because they're from Spain, Argentina, etc, it just sounds like a Japanese man struggling to pronounce English words.

I like Engrish when it's used comedically, purposefully or not, however here it was just executed poorly.

An episode that seemed calm but turned out to be the opposite!

So Isagi's team lost to Rin and Rin himself chose Isagi? Incredible

So the luck factor is important when playing games, this can be quite important for the series.

I really didn't think that Rin and Isagi's team would start playing against those professional players, but from what I see, and from what I see, Rin and Isagi's team started to win 1-0 with an instant chemical reaction, I wonder If for the next chapter, which is the last one, they will animate this whole game or leave it to a part of this

I am looking forward to the next chapter which is already the last of this season 1 and a possible prequel to season 2!
I'm not a critic or anything like that but I like to give my opinion

I actually like how this match ended due to "luck" since it's also an important factor to any kind of match irl, and Ego's explanation made sense to me - how "luck" is in part acquired by the actions you yourself take to get to that point. I just wish the anime didn't place the conclusion of the match so awkwardly such that the match ended in the first five minutes of the episode. Anyways, the Engrish though. Aside from the England dude, their horrible pronunciation makes sense since English isn't their first language, but it was still way too funny to hear lol. Though Loki not speaking at all was kinda weird....

Rin's Engrish kinda made his declaration of crushing the World 5 seem lame. But at least we had the British guy to balance his out.

So I guess the final episode is probably them losing to the Five and then hopefully a S2 announcement.

Even as Isagi tried his best to avoid the ball for the match point, all of this couldn't make the deception that his team lost in the pivotal match against Rin's team with a score of 5-4. As customary, the winner team must pick someone from Isagi's team, and Rin, for better or for worse, chooses Isagi to join in his conquest to become the best, completing the 5-people team for the 2nd Selection.

The last goal that was pure luck, Isagi feels regret that he's moving on, but Chigiri, Barou and Nagi will not back from their own fight. Tokimitsu and Aryu welcome Isagi with open arms, and the reunion of both him and Bachira reunited the hope of fair competition and teamwork. Now that all 5 people have passed the 2nd Selection, now it's all down to teaching what luck means in the football world from Ego himself, thrugh explaining the ruses of the final decisive goal, the part where Isagi's planning could not catch up to. Ego is truly right: luck only comes to those who fight hard for it, be it either coincidences or not, and that is the difference beween Isagi and Rin, in the process of victory and defeat.

The 3rd Selection against the World Five in a 5 vs 5 match, this is the brutality of the outside world of football. Isagi wanting to one-up Rin by following in his footsteps, even in his cooldown, it's a bit on the stretch that Isagi is forcing himself upon. But with Bachira, these two are peas in a pod to do things together, to devour the World Five.

The World Five aren't to be trifled, and apart from the somewhat scamping Engrish, it's Team Blue Lock vs. Team World Five in a standout play of individuality and teamwork, with Bachira and Rin scoring first blood.

Gonna be a finale that's worth watching.

Well only one player from the big 5 is native english speaker so it makes sense they are not fluent speakers and Rin english was good too imo

•Aunque ya solo queda un episodio.

I think it's not surprising to the audience that Rin wins against Isagi. And Isagi got chosen to go with the winning team for the next selection. I wonder who Bachira would pick if Rin didn't interrupt. It's a good start that they got the first goal against the team with the best strikers. Looking forward to the continuation of their game. I have read the manga but I forgot who won.

I'm from Brazil, the character is based on Dada Maravilha. A complete pure scorer type of player (Haaland is a good similar example of style, scoring machine). So the match finally ended albeit with some luck. I had no clue who would win and after Rin's team won I thought maybe they would pick Nagi after Bachira said he didn't need Isagi anymore but Rin ended up choosing Isagi anyways. It does suck for Isagi's old team but if they regroup and win their next game they would be up to 4 players and if they win again then they would have 5 players, I'm assuming at that point there could be a potential for a rematch and if that's the case that would be a season 2 match up (that's if I'm understanding how this works).

The Engrish was amusing and somewhat cringe but as some people pointed out it would not be any of the players' native tongue except for the English guy. The additional time segment was funny as apparently Isagi was mom for the guys lol.
