I think season 1 was much more enjoyable to watch than season 2. It felt powerful and sentimental at times. Mugen train was fine but entertainment district is 100% fighting with barely any meaning to it. If it continues like this i might just understand why people say it's mid and carried by animation.
I really like Demon Slayer but like. A bit overhyped. Most people who don’t watch anime say they like it / that it’s the only one they’ve seen. It’s a beautiful masterpiece for sure, but meh 6 awards across the board? It’s one of the only animes I watch even though it annoys me a bit.
Super proud though, and happy for the people involved :)

it's not a beautiful masterpiece for me but it can won some categories, all six are not deserved imo
Demon Slayer feels like a diet fantasy at most, that award definitely should have gone to Mushoku Tensei or (even though I still haven't watched the new season yet) Made in Abyss. Then again, these Crunchyroll Anime Awards are a joke and should NOT under any circumstances be taken seriously lol. Judging by the results, this was clearly a popularity contest between Demon Slayer, AOT, and Spy x Family.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.
yeah but it not like it was unexpected demonslayer is one of the most popular anime so it doesn't have to be good in th3 categories it win just the most popular
If only it didn't won the award for Fantasy... I would have had some value for the awards.
Like seriously? It was not even worthy for nomination! But! It even won the won the award by winning over Made in Abyss AND Mushoku Tensei lmao
All other awards were fine but i totally lost my impression on the awards due to the fantasy award.
probably cuz the judges were too lazy and stupid to be aware of any other anime. Or were so woke that they had issue with every show. Crunchyroll votes are like 70% judge votes.
Show is great but it created a weird demon slayer elitist circle jerk. You can tell someone who knows nothing about anime if the only anime they know are KnY which is a lot of youtube that constantly says disney is dying and the only anime they can bring up is KnY

Yea made in abyss should have won this
Made in Abyss is overrated and doesn't have much appeal like demon slayer has
Lmao, You Serious made in abyss with 64+ chapters and 2 season+1 movie got far more story/character development than this whole DS manga/anime will ever get. These crunchyroll awards are just popularity contest tbh and mainstream normie mostly vote in these awards plus a hype show coz animation so mostly will support the decision too.
Made in Abyss is more underrated than overrated. It's DS which is overrated af.
2023 might be the year where I will be happy. This year is not happy year.
Personally, I strongly disagree with some of the awards at this Anime Awards. The fact that Kimetsu no Yaiba won the Best Action Anime and Best Animation categories is fair enough and I have no complaints about it. However, the other three categories were, in my view, from injustices to terrible mistakes.
I can even accept the award in Character Design, although I believe that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners' design, its color palette and style were superior. Although I disagree, it's not an unreasonable choice, given that Kimetsu's designs are original, detailed, full of period costumes and, above all, improved in the anime adaptation.
However, when I talk about the choices in Best Fantasy Anime and Best Direction, I think it's absurd. Besides the fact that Kimetsu no Yaiba already won several categories in the year of its debut, the sequel was definitely not superior to Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou. Not even as a fantasy anime and, in my view, much less as a general story. And even more absurd is the fact that so many talented directors failed to win this award and it fell into the lap of Haruo Sotozaki. I mean, Sotozaki isn't a bad director, but he's completely favored by the genius animation minds that exist at ufotable. Many of the incredible action sequences that the anime has are free shots, the result of these animators' hands and their pure talent, not the director's coordination and vision. Even at the time of the first season, I followed some Sakuga Community articles that talked about this. Some scenes that Haruo himself animated and coordinated alone are far inferior to others involved in the project. His direction works at times, but at others limits the studio's capabilities, though it's hard to believe when Kimetsu no Yaiba is already a product with amazing animation. In addition, he is not as active as other directors, he is not experimental, he does not have a style or signature in his works... It is difficult to think about this choice. I would give the 2022 award to Tomoyuki Itamura, from Yofukashi no Uta, in view of the stylization and quality he managed to attribute to a work from a studio as bad as LIDENFILMS. However, since he is not in the running, I would choose Hiroyuki Imaishi, from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, or Shingo Adachi, from Lycoris Recoil. Even Yosuke Hatta, from Ousama Ranking, I believe would be a priority over Sotozaki, and I barely mentioned the directors of Chainsaw Man and Bocchi the Rock!, who were left out of the vote due to date issues.
See, I don't dislike Kimetsu no Yaiba. I read the entire manga and follow the animation. I think it's a reasonable Battle Shonen, but it's at the heart of one of the reasons why people, myself included, discredit the Awards. It may have qualities to be considered in several of these categories, but it certainly shouldn't win all of them and popularity pushed it to do so, as it has wide reach and many people who voted for the award just watched it. That's how it is with virtually all Battle Shonens and popular works, which is why the award is so lackluster. You can bet, this year's Awards will be an infestation of Kimetsu no Yaiba, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Bleach and Jigokuraku, because it always "needs" to be a Battle Shonen. And that's why many are no longer valuing the Awards.

Funny, DS is a generic shounen which got carried by ufotable, the plot is not any different from any shounen so far and the characters are just... bland. The only things that stands out is animation and music composition. Now that should tell you which one is overrated, that is if you watched enough anime.
I mean crunchyroll awards are way more than popularity contest than anything, i bet Aot would win best romance had it been nominated.
At this point the Anime trending awards and reddit awards(mostly AT) are way more legit than crunchyroll awards despite the massive difference in popularity

I actually agree with you on everything you said, it is indeed true that demon slayer is carried by animation and ost but it doesn't change the fact that it's still a better fantasy Anime than made in abyss, since better plot and characters =/= more enjoyable and memorable Anime as a whole
