| Gene is an expert at grappler combat... because, uhm, errr, he's the main character duh! Let's forget the prior episodes where he was a helpless wreck in space, getting sick, and barely able to take off, let alone to fly. And now he takes out three pirates paid by the most powerful Chinese guild mafia for his first grappling fight in space. Are we sure Gene hasn't died and been replaced by a pirate bio-android? I hated Shinji from NGE, and no matter of explaining behind his wimpiness was going to change my perception of him. BUT, at least the pilot was actually improving and more believable when he saved the day. Gene just pulled out a plot armor gary stu, out of nowhere. All the episodes spent building up this flawed anti-hero thrown unceromoniously into space in the last half of the episode, just fantastic. Suzuki joins the crew out of the blue, not suspicious at all, I can't wait for their surprise faces when she turns on them. Either that or we just heard the most pathetic excuse in my memory of why a character joined the group. No build up, no complex character interactions and backstory. One fight and being spared has got Suzuki's panties in a knot. Herp derp dey interestin'. And apparently Gene is a eunuch and can be healed by the power of boobies, baby. |

| The scene between Melfina and Gene was beautiful if also strange. How did she heal him? Why show his crotch if it just looks like a Ken doll? I'm excited to see where their journey takes them now that it is finally started. |
| Great episode! I guess Gene's toxin was removed due to the water or some form Melfina made ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Suzuka is slowly becoming part of the crew. I love it :) |
| How did Melfina cure Gene? I suppose more of her mystery will be unraveled later on. Suzuka is amazing once again, Gene sure couldn't get that pirate, let alone that pirate inside of a robot. I'm glad they're back in space, these space battles are sooo epic. I love how Jim is the only one to think pragmatically and not sure if during the space battle Suzuka went to go make herself tea, but that's what I really want to think. |
| We're finally on the move, and the limitless possibilities start now. Hopefully the series delves into some interesting adventures now. And, despite all of Gene's trepidations he is actually pretty competent when it comes to space stuff. |

| Kind of ridiculous how massively visually superior this episode was to everything that came before. Reminds me of that one random episode in the middle of Gundam X that looks 10x better than anything else in that show. Sunrise really weren't bothered by uneven production quality in the 90s. |

| @OneMoreFinal I almost feel like this wasn't such an issue back in the 90's. Uneven production quality was kinda the norm back then, and it seems like fans had more of a "good animation is worth bad animation" mindset. I could be wrong, but that's the vibe I sense talking with old school anime fans. |
